An Early North London Derby
Up early for one of the biggest matches of the season - the North London Derby. After that early clash, there is the usual 10am EST slate of matches in the Premier League and the EFL. At the end of the day, we've got a mid-table clash between Newcastle and West Ham. Join me for all the fun early doors.

Morning, chaps - Tottenham have lost their last two Premier League games, and Arsenal have won their last two Premier League games. But both of those Gunners wins came at home, while away they have been pretty wretched.
A lot of buzz about Emery's starting XI choices today, with top scorer Aubameyang sitting on the bench. Here are the teams:
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Trippier, Wanyama, Sissoko, Rose, Eriksen, Kane, Son. Subs: Lamela, Llorente, Gazzaniga, Aurier, Lucas Moura, Davies, Skipp.
Arsenal: Leno, Mustafi, Papastathopoulos, Koscielny, Monreal, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Ramsey, Iwobi, Lacazette. Subs: Cech, Ozil, Torreira, Aubameyang, Maitland-Niles, Suarez, Kolasinac.
Referee: Anthony Taylor.
With a win here Spurs could narrow the gap with Citeh to five points. Arsenal, otherwise, could go within a point of their rivals with a big win here at Wemberley.
Teams in the tunnel now at the home of English footie.
Morning Bob
I am down in "your" seat for kick off... of course, you haven't been here for yonks!
Morning, UWS! Get out of my seat! There should be a #6 Leeds shirt draping off that seat.
We are off
Feel sorry for all those fans on that side of the field... sun in their eyes must be horrible
Good morning, Bob and Dave. Here to join you for the North London Derby
ooh, a big chance for The Gazette... screwed wide
Oh - Lacazette had a chance early on from a deflected bobble. Completely bollixed it up.
Morning David
Whiie Typing I missed the action , but read about a missed sitter while reading La Cazette.
Come and put it here yourself!
Spurs almost make a chance but fail to get a shot on goal
Oh - Trippier fizzes a cross over. Cleared out. Good cut and thrust to this one straight away.
Don't tempt me!
What score does a United supporter want here
We could catch Spurs with an Arsenal win but we could be above Arsenal in fourth. I guess a Spurs win
Sorry Steve
Anytime Bob
Arlo likes red cards.. he likes to see them
So what it has be 78 games and 1 red
That's the way it should be
Like Sunshine , we want a Spurs victory. The two Daves so that United can benefit and Sunshine to avoid St. Totteringham's Day
Sorry for all those texts yesterday Bob... I thought you were at work and not watching
What a thumping win... many congrats
Miki should have had a pop there
I suppose it gives Arlo and the boys something to chat about.
Agreed. This ref is Taylor made for the occasion.
Arlo has enough to chat about as is, LOL!
Arsenal are the better side right now
I thought Spurs would have a bounce back
Not sure what Steve will think of Sunshine's prediction.
This is a proper derby – high-tempo football, nobody having a moment on the ball, the middle third of the pitch obscenely crowded.
Naughty by Xakha Khan on Harry Kane and Abel to avoid a booking someway somehow.
Morning, MUR - how are you, mate?
Mo Po letting Jon Moss know what he feels about that decision.
Kane fails to get a shot off there too!
and Ramsey breaks and it's one nil!!
GOAL! Ramsey is played through while still in his own half. He runs through and rounds Lloris to score!
0-1 Gunners!
GOAL !!!RAMSEY GIVES THE GUNNERS THE LEAD ON THE BREAK SECONDS AFTER HARRY KANE WAS ATTEMPING TO GET A SHOT OFF IN THE SPURS BOX.
Sorry seconds after Kane was in the Gunner's box.
Gunners fans enjoying the moment at Wemberley now.
It was actually a very simple goal. Harry Kane had a shot blocked then Xakha Khan's long clearance was completely miss headed by Davinson Sanchez at the halfway line and L Cazette put through Ramsey, who beat the offside trap and rounded Lloris for an easy score.
Dancing in the chilly streets of Alex?
Eriksen held back and Spurs have a free kick.
Free kick...great header....flagged offside
I think he was off... why do players leave early
Nice free kick from Trippier headed in by Harry Kane, but disallowed for offside. He looked level. Should be tied up.
Oh - great header from Kane but it's flagged offside.
Not looking like a happy 47th birthday for MO PO.
After that brilliant thumping of West Brom last night, I can't see Millwall taking anything from the Canaries today
We are all on the Owl's side of the Steel City derby on Monday at Hillsboro
Bruce has got Wednesday on a great run right now... let it continue for at least one more game
No doubt that Gooner is enjoying the moment as well.
Mustafi called for a push on Danny Rose.
Crunching tackle there by Mustafi on Rose. Anthony Taylor is being very generous today.
I want a draw here more than a Gunner win.. I want United in fourth
Spurs are shooting!
Wow - great run by Son but then Monreal stuck out a foot.
Agreed, Dave. Bob will definitely want evil to triumph this weekend with him going against his normal wishes by cheering for the Lions and Owls.
Definitely a draw is the best result for you lot.
AREN'T
I'm a Millwall fan for the day, for sure.
Any chance of a new manager boost for Fulham in the West London derby tomorrow...I don't think so
Cant believe Claudio R already lost his job.... how did he ever win the League!!
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to bugger off over to campus around 10am for an open house event. Should be back for the late one.
Fulham are in an irretrievable situation. I feel bad for Claudio.
If not for that loss at Loftus Road... Leeds would be sitting pretty
Did you listen to that Leeds program on 5Live yet?
Long Spurs possession that started in their own box that culminates in Eriksen dragging a shot wide.
How dare you miss United!!!
I might not be here for the late one
Didn't know that Claudio was sacked. Fell for him. How do the Cottagers expect to improve if they don't give their managers a chance. Cottagers and Terriers pretty much doomed.
A corner comes to nothing
What did England do in the World Cup the made them so dangerous at almost every corner?
Why aren't teams doing the same?
Will be here for United vs Saints. Will be around for the late one if anyone else is.
There's Arlo wanted more cards shown
Anthony Taylor is already warning Bert Leno about time wasting...in the 33rd minute!
Sorry, mate - duty calls.
Would not be surprised if relegation is done and dusted with a couple of matches t spare. Expect Cardiff to be the third team that joins the Cottagers and Terriers
Now we know how Arlo acts on his birthday and holidays!
Gunners free kick headed on by Mustafi and off Davioson Sanchez for a Gunners corner.
Spurs break from a corner... Trip almost get in Siss' way but Trip gets a cross in...couldn't find anyone
Long range effort from Vertonghn curled not too far wide.
This match following a similar pattern to the one at SB in midweek.,
Spurs are looking a bit low energy today. The decision not to sign any new players to strengthen the squad in the summer isn't looking very good right now. Are you sure that you want Potch at United?
Oh - Iwobi curls one in but Lloris saves well.
Pass from Trippier intended for Harry Kane cut out by Socrates then the Gunners counter and Lloris makes a decent save from Iwobi.
Arlo pointing out fouls...Le Sox liking the no cards
We've got our man!!
Agreed, Bob. Spurs put in a very similar performance at SB in midweek. No on Mo Po for United and yes to OGS.
Well, Graeme is a card carrying member of the Defenders Union.
Spurs have two chances... two great saves by the Late Night Talk Show host
Oh - how did Leno save both of those efforts - top class!
OH!! Nice double save from Jay Leno , first from Eriksen off a cross from Harry Kane then the next one even better as he tips over from Cissy.
So is is Lee. He is happy with no cards as well.
A minute of stoppage time.
Arlo with the stupid panicking remark. Le says you never want to panic. DUH!
Son blasts one over and that's about it for the first half. Arsenal will troop in 0-1 up.
HT at Wembley
Good news for Stevie D
Mo Po heads off to the tunnel early and the Gunners are one up at the half thanks to that smash and grab effort.
Southend vs Barnsley is 0-0 at the half.
Teams coming out at Wembley for the second half
The Emery Board makes a substitution despite the Gunners having the lead . Torreira on for Hair Bear 2.0. Second half underway
Arlo begins the second half wanting a foul.
Ramsey called for a foul on Trippier when Trippier had an arm hold on Ramsey
A list of my pet peeves of modern day football
1) possession football
2) lack of quality crossing
3) teams coming out together and shaking hands
4) Short corners
5) late subbing
6) ridiculous amount of added time
7) yellow and red cards are common place
8) Cup given out after everyone gets their medal and not to the captain at the beginning.... to damn crowded
Do you you agree or disagree with any? Do you guys have any?
Lack of quality cross there by Trip
Example of #2
United fans need a Spurs goal
I'm back for the second half with a cuppa and a bagel, the official breakfast of the LOB.
I agree with those, but would like to add players complaining about every single decision made by the ref and losing their temper at the ref for every piddly thing. Also hate the managers always yelling at the fourth official and teams passing short passes just for the sake of possession.
Welcome back. Sounds like a great brekkies. Well done.
I totally agree with you on all of those points, mate. I'd also add the use of two (and sometimes three!) defensive midfielders and playing a false #9 up front.
Totally agree David
Your last point is my #1
Ohhh...how did The Gazette miss that one!!
Great one Bob!
Totally agree
Just to let everyone know that the MLS season starts today with USL kicking off next weekend . The opening USL match Tacoma vs our Toros on Friday with the other USL matches being played next Saturday
Of course... you also want the end of Leeds not being in the top division
Agreed, Bob. Thanks, Dave.
Spurs hit the side netting... people thought it was in
Well wide
More than half of those items on your list are basically the Barcelona Way; they're to blame for a lot of it.
Abum coming on for the Gazette
OH!! Free kick from Eriksen headed back by Kos and volleyed by Toby into the side netting.
Aubama coming on for his French mate, Lacazette. Why not play them together?
Totally agree... BLOODY PEP
I want to add another one
Goalkeepers bought because they make great saves.... and not necessarily good with their feet!
I missed that substitution while reading La Cazette , but read that it was like for like as Aubama replaced him.
Agreed with that for sure regarding the keepers.
I would like to add player power. Players are brought to play, not to be managers.
Just a reminder that the OGS interview is on NBCSN tomorrow beginning at 2 PM.
A back pass by Spurs.... thought they wouldn't do that after the Trip at the Bridge
Argie manager bringing on an Argie player in an attacking move as Lamela comes on for Wanyama.
Agreed. Thought Spurs would have learned their lessons after the Trippier fiasco.
Apparently Pep and others learned it from Johan Cruyff. Total Football in Holland may be the root of it.
Another one
Ex Player Pundits.... a dime a dozen
I would like to add players cheating , especially diving and forearms to opponents.
Are list could hit the 20 mark
I have to rush off to the store...I'll be back
Potch has thrown on Lamela, a more attacking option, for Wanyama. According to Le Sox that's "throwing caution to the wind." As I mentioned above, most teams start with two defensive middies - Spurs today had Davison Sanchez and Wanyama from the start.
Pep modified an attacking tactic to a more defensive time wasting version.
That's a good shout, too, MUR.
Lamela joins Miki in the book.
Cheers, Dave. Have a great trip.
Lamela wins the day’s second caution, for sliding in to collect the ball ignoring the fact that Xhaka was between him and it.
Cheers, Bob. I will try to think of others.
Any thoughts of MLS starting this weekend and USL next weekend?
Of interest to Pompey and Black Cats fans is that ten man Barnsley is in the lead at Southend on Sea. That's on Plus.
Lamela curls a long range effort wide, but seem to be covered by the late night talk show host
I honestly haven't followed the goings on during the break. As usual I'll be rooting for the Revolution, as I was a fan club member from the start of the league when I was living in Boston. But they haven't been any good since the days of Stevie Nichol's team with Double T, Clint Dempsey and Steve Ralston. I don't expect much from them this season.
How about you - do you follow Houston?
No. I don't follow Houston, but do keep an eye on the Toros result. Surprised we're the opening match of the USL season. Our home opener is in a fortnight vs Fresno. Not sure if I'm going. All USL matches are on Plus
Danny Rose booked earlier for a follow through on Jay Leno as he tried to get a shot off. Great Spurs defending on a Gunner's counter./
Ramsey comes off to a huge ovation; Beaker comes on for him for the final 20 minutes.
Final roll of the dice from the Emery Board as the Beaker is on for Ramsey. Shouldn't be any stoppage time subs.
Penalty to Spurs! Mustafi leaned on HK and he went down.
PENALTY SPURS OFF THE FREE KICK FROM ERIKSEN. MUSTAFI CALLED FOR A PUSH ON HARRY KANE. WAS HARRY KANE OFFSIDE?
Of course it's Kane to take....
Strokes it in like a perfect penalty taker does.
1-1! Game on!
GOAL !!! HARRY KANE TIES IT UP , SENDING JAY LENO THE WRONG WAY. WELL PLACED PENALTY
This would be the ideal result for you lot.
Cursing in the streets of Alex?
A Spurs win would be even better, then we need to get a win vs Saints at OT
Mo Po going for a physical presence as Number One Son, who never got going, being replaced by the Llorente Express.
Probably so. Ten minutes left for these sides to break the deadlock. Arsenal have ceded the momentum to Spurs.
Spurs looking at their first Prem draw of the season?
Ten man Barnsley go two up at Southend on Sea.
Lack of quality there in that final ball in from Mustafi.
I am back... and missed the equalizer
Welcome back. You have arrived with the match finely balanced And Spurs possibly getting their first prem draw of the season.
Just went back to watch the goal
Def pen but the trio want offside with VAR
Harsh booking for Llorente . Used the elbow for leverage. Not much else he could do.
Again, this score is okay for United.
HK did seem a shoulder offside.
More to the list.... First Class airplane seats on the "bench"
I miss the bench in a dugout
That was a nasty challenge by Harry Kane on Socrates. Should have been a booking.
I've got the BBC's Red Button channel going strong on my First One website
Final Score starting at the bottom of the hour
I would like to add refs giving cards for ticky tacky things , but what should be a booking gets ignored.
Oh my giddy aunt - it's an Arsenal penalty right at the death!
Penalty for the Arsenal in the 89th minute
That wasn't a pen
I don't see a lot of contact there on the replay. Soft.
PENALTY GUNNERS DAVINSON SANCHEZ CALLED FOR A TRIP ON AUBAMA .
Aubama with the pen - can he do like Kane.
Up comes Aubum....SAVED... cleared
Saved!!!
What drama!
Justice?
INTO STOPPAGE TIME . POOR PENALTY BY AUBAMA EASILY SAVED BY LLORIS THEN LLORIS TIPS OVER THE REBOUND FROM IWOBI
5 added minutes
Still five minutes or so of stoppage time to be played.
Weak penalty there!!
Into a quintet of stoppage time minutes.
Both penalties were probably mistakes.
Yes. Justice served and definitely a weak penalty.
That's why keepers shouldn't guess. React and save like you do the rest of the match
Lots at the back post....none could get on the end of it
Oh - that free kick drifted into a dangerous area but no one could get onto it.
Free kick Spurs. Curled in by Eriksen and Toby fails to make contact from close range
That was a great block from the rebound on Aubum was great
Bad cross by Aubum to Ozil... cleared
Oh - Aubama had a chance to hit that shot first time - why did he cross it?
Socrates named MOTM . for the Gunners or Philosophers. I named Aristotle.
5Live is saying Spurs need the three points.
They need at least one
Arsenal NEED the three points
United with a chance of going into fourth and only 3 points behind Spurs... with Spurs having to go to Anfield and the Etihad
United have to go the Emirates
Oh my dear - a straight red for Torreira at the death. That was a leg breaker. Off he goes.
Torreira with a nasty foul on Danny Rose and sent off for that. Won't be available for another month.
Torriera fouls and the ref.... modern day... gives a red card!
Pointless! He made a good tackle
He will be out of the United match..... I think it is stupid!
BLOODY MODERN DAY FOOTBALL
I disagree with you... not a yellow
It's all over..... advantage United
Now don't blow it against the Southampton!!
Spurs first draw of the season
It's over and finishes 1-1. Spurs first Prem draw of the season.
So that's that. It all ends 1-1, which is probably a fair shout. Great result for you lot.
I'm off to the open house then.
Off for walkies ahead of the United match
I am off for walkies
Have a good rest of the morning Bob
I'll be back David
United's line up
Manchester United XI: de Gea, Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Pogba, Rashford, Lukaku, Sanchez
Subs: Bailly, Grant, Rojo, Fred, Dalot, Chong, Gomes.
