Saturday on the LOB
A very good Saturday morning, chaps! I'm settling in with a cuppa to enjoy the offerings from across The Pond. First up is Burnley hosting title hopefuls Spurs. Then at 10am, I'll be turning my attention to the Championship and Leeds' match with Notlob on the Plus. Finally at 12:30, it's Leicester v. Palace. The big ones, including the League Cup Final, are all tomorrow, but there is plenty of interest this morning. Join me, won't you?

All of the pre-match chatter this morning has been about Potch's bold decision to stick Harry Kane back into the starting XI after six weeks out and only two days of training this week. It's a huge risk but Potch must still think that he's got a chance at the title.

Good morning, Bob. Up and ready for the Prem action . How have you been?
Morning, MUR - I've been great. Fairly easy week at work. How about you?
Agreed. Mo Po believes that despite the hug risk , it's necessary if the Spuds have any chance of winning their first top flight title since the early 60s.
Teams gathering in the tunnel at Turf Moor now:
Burnley: Heaton, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Hendrick, Westwood, Cork, McNeil, Barnes, Wood.
Subs: Lowton, Gudmundsson, Brady, Gibson, Crouch, Hart, Vydra.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Foyth, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Aurier, Sissoko, Winks, Rose, Eriksen, Kane, Son.
Subs: Lamela, Wanyama, Walker-Peters, Llorente, Gazzaniga, Lucas Moura, Davies.
Referee: Mike Dean (Wirral).
Same here. Thank you for asking. My work week didn't start until Wednesday, so a fairly short week.
Two Prem matches yesterday as the Hornets went to the Welsh Capitals and stung the locals with a 1-5 win thanks to a hat-trick from Deulofeu. The East End Boys defeated the West End Boys 3-1 as the Hammers prevailed over the Cottagers
They're off from Turf Moor.
And we're off at Turf Moor, which is bathed in spring sunshine.
Strange to say that it's much sunnier in NW England than it has been any time here this week.
McNeil wins an early corner for Burnley
Oh - Lloris has to take emergency measures with that early corner.
The corner curl;s in and Lloris is forced to tip it over just under the bar.
Just a reminder that Mike Dean is one away from his ton of red cards in the Premiership. What a record!
You must be pleased that Leeds vs Bolton is on Plus today. Of interest to UWS is a promotion six pointer in L1 as Pompey hosts Barnsley.
Is that why I call him the Dean of officials , mate?
I am, of course. Every match from here on out is a Cup tie for us. We need three points today, for sure.
Not sure Mike has the academic credentials for that.
Key matches in the Championship are the Canaries vs Bristol City and the Baggies vs the Evil Blades. What results would you prefer in those matches?
Tom Heaton does well to dive in and catch a cross from Danny Rose amongst a crowd of feet.
LOL! More like Jimmy Dean or Dean Martin. Definitely not a genius.
Juan Foyth called for pulling back Ashley Barnes , who went past him.
Free kick headed out for a Burnley corner.
Sorry.A throw near the corner flag taken by Charlie Taylor.
Most of the early running has been from the home side. What we wouldn't do now at Leeds to still have Chris Wood leading the line!
Despite the sunny weather , it appears that a swirling wind is blowing based on the crosses coming in to the Spurs box.
Charlie Taylor is another one that Sean Dyche poached off us.
What do you think of those two key Championship matches , mate? Would you like a draw in those matches?
Does that make him Evil Sean?
If clubs keep building their stands higher, we'll be watching matches from space eventually.
Yeah - a draw would do us nicely in both of those matches.
LOL! That would be really fascinating. Would you watch from space? Some binoculars would come in handy.
First shot of the match from Harry Kane is a run then a long range effort that goes wide of the mark.
Spurs just starting to get going in this match.
This and the Leeds match probably the best of the action today. The top matches are tomorrow.
Absolutely, mate. I may skip the late one between Leicester and Palace. Strictly mid-table stuff.
The draw for the Round of sixteen EL matches was made. The Gunners face Rennes and Chelsea against Dynamo Kiev. The first leg will be played on March 7th and the second leg on Pi Day
Likewise , mate. There's a huge pile of leaves to rake that got postponed due to the rainy weather last weekend.
Scouting duty for Southgate in the North of England. Wouldn't that make him Northgate?
Burnley concede a need less corner. Will the London club capitalize?
Taken short and a shot from Winks is somewhat blocked then Burnley hoof it away from danger.
We're supposed to have hurricane like conditions here tomorrow.
WOW ! Is a blizzard headed your way? Hope everyone stays safe.
Long range effort from Eriksen is easily saved by Tom Heaton.
Then lloris does well to tip over a shot from Ashley Barnes.
Great solo run by Number One Son, But not ONE white shirt made a run to get on to his pass into the box.
Great run by Son but he couldn't find a teammate when he cut the ball back from the by-line.
HK was nearly in there from Erickson's ball - his touch just let him down.
Header from Harry Kane straight to Tom Heaton off a great cross from Cissy off a long spell of possession.
Danny Rose with a cross and headed into the ground by Aurier straight to Heaton.
Spurs are beginning to ask questions of the Burnley defense.
Agreed. Spurs starting to show their quality in a hard fought first half.
Ashley Barnes being scouted by the Austrian national team coach. Qualifies through a grandparent.
No stoppage time played as it's 0-0 at the end of a competitive half.
Not even a minute of stoppage time there. The teams troop in 0-0. I'm off to make my half-time bagel.
Back and ready for the second half, which could be a key half in the title race.
The second half is underway from Turf Moor.
Pass into the box from Danny Rose is off of Tark for a Spurs corner.
Taken short to Number One Son and passed to Danny Rose, whose shot is blocked.
Back with my brekkies for the second half then.
OH! Long range effort from Harry Kane superbly turned around by Tom Heaton.
Welcome back. How are the bagels?
Lovely, thanks.
Jeff Hendrick wins a corner off of Vertonghen after a great run by McNeil.
Morning Boys
I join you as Burley take the lead!!
GOAL !!! CHRIS WOOD HEADS BURNLEY INTO A SHOCK LEAD OFF THE CORNER.
GOAL! It's that man Chris Wood with a towering header to put Burnley into the lead!
Good morning, UWS . Perfect timing.
I have been watching some of the match upstairs then showered and shaved... as soon as I sit down... Spurs fall behind!
I heard on the radio during the week and Becky said it this morning... If United beat Liverpool...the title is in Spurs hands...not now
Mo Po furious , barking a fourth official, Pawson that the corner should never have been awarded. Spurs should have defended better off the corner.
Spurs are up against it now. They haven't looked close to scoring this morning and now they'll need two.
Morning, UWS - great timing!
Correct, UWS. It seems a long shot for Spurs at best even if they come from behind to win
I won't be around for the late match and in and out the boring 10 o'clocker but of course there is Leeds to watch!
Laura's last full day today. I have to drive her to Newark Airport tomorrow right after the Cup Final
Then I have to go back to work on Monday...grrrrrrrrrr
Chelsea banned on signing new players the next two transfer windows do to a breech of rules concerning the transfer of international players under the age of 18. Who ever is in charge during that time has the challenge of motivating a group of players that are difficult to motivate.
Agreed it is a long shot with Spurs going to Chelsea, Liverpool and City BUT all the have to do is win the game in front of them and not worry about anything else... need two goals here!
Harry Winks being withdrawn now - big Fernando Llorente to come on. Kane is staying on - I'm shocked.
The Llorente Express on for Harry Winks as he gives Spurs an extra striker in the hopes that their title challenge is not derailed.
That's true, UWS - Spurs are capable of scoring two here.
Hope you have a had a great break and that Laura had a great time in ENY. Sorry you have to go back, but at least you're not far away from retiring.
Danny Rose wins a corner off of Bardsley.
Corner taken short to Danny Rose and his shot is blocked for another corner. The next corner from Eriksen is headed away
The Llorente Express booked for steam rolling a Burnley player.
Kane is back!!
GOAL! The HK gamble comes good!
Again, Spurs have not drawn a game yet this season... a winner to come
GOAL !! HARRY KANE TIES IT UP ON HIS RETURN TO THE FIRST TEAM WITH A SHOT OFF THE INSIDE OF THE POST.
Simple goal there. Danny Rose with a long throw and then it was HK's strength that made the difference.
Not the usual way that Spurs score, Burnley caught out by A long throw from Danny Rose as Harry Kane got behind Ben Mee and scored with a great finish past Tom Heaton.
Speaking of United... has Ole got the job?
Only one loss to PSG... people saying that they were outclassed that game... I don't agree. I think the two injuries at the end of the first half screwed up all Ole's plans
I wonder if the two Robbies will admit that the gamble came off and that Potch was right and they were wrong.
Danny Rose may have cheated a few yards on the throw, but Sean Dyche should be more upset at his team's defending or lack of on the throw.
Mike Dean has a decision to make here as Foyth goes in. Yellow.
Not sure if Ole has. He should. The Robbies should admit their error.
The Dean of officials still on 99 as he books Juan Foyth for a wreckless challenge on Chris Wood.
I think that you lot would be mad not to keep OGS. He's an OT legend and has done really well.
Into the wall by Westwood and cleared away
Shot from Jeff Hendrick not too far wide.
Totally agree.. if they didn't hire him.. some other team wold right away
To clarify what Bob stated. The Dean of officials not an academic Dean
I agree as well. We need to hire OGS.
Former United player , Phil Bardsley, booked for a horrible foul on Danny Rose.
I know Bob won't agree and I am not sure about David but I want Spurs to be in the title race. I want them to win with other two choices being City and LIVERPOOL!
Pass from Aurier off of Ben Mee for a Spurs corner that's taken short by Eriksen to Number One Son.
I don't have any problems with Spurs being in the title race. Better them than Citeh or Liverpool. Not sure how it would affect the PPP.
Modern Day cross there by Spurs.... could have scored there
Lamlea on for compatriot Juan Foyth. An attacking move as Spurs look for a late winner.
Thought Burnley were going to take the lead
Shot from McNeil kick saved by Lloris off a poor SPurs clearance then Burnley win a corner.
Corner carried by the gusty breeze and out of play
I'm fine with Spurs making the title race more interesting. But they wouldn't be worthy champions. Liverpool or Citeh for me.
Double substitution now.
Like for like as Gudmunsson is on for the lively McNeil and another like for like is an Irish swap as Robbie Brady is on for Jeff Hendrick as Sean Dyche makes a double substitution.
Barf for both of those choices....worst case scenarios
It would be nice to see someone different winning the title . They haven't won it in our lifetime.Would prove that you can win a title without signing new players
LOL! Hard to stomach those choices?
Spurs would not be overplayed...they have a three week break in March with international and Cup weekends
GOAL... BURNLEY TAKE THE LEAD!!
You could see it happening!!
GOAL !!! GUDMUNSSON GOES ON A SOLO RUN AND HIS SHOT IS REDIRECTED IN BY ASHLEY BARNES.
GOAL! That's torn it! Barnes taps in from close range.
United for THIRD!!!
Now Spurs need two goals from the last five minutes or so. Tough climb for them.
Aurier was pressured into a poor clearance that made it to Jack Cork. he passed short to Gudmunsson , who went on that run to set up the finish for Ashley Barnes.
Bloody Burnley... how are they so low in the table?
Played well against United and now Spurs
Lamela talks his way into the Dean's book.
Burnley is low primarily due to their poor start. But for that they would probably be mid table.
Spursy play by the title hopefuls.
Stoke City's keeper will be wearing a throw-back kit in memory of Gordon Banks. Green shirt, team shorts... I miss those days
Final roll of the dice from Mo Po as Lucas Mora is on for Number One Son
That's a nice touch . Wonder if Kasper should do the same.
Next on NBCSN is a thriller. A relegation six pointer as the Toon host the doomed Terriers.
In the Championship
Leeds to win at home to Bolton
Norwich to lose to red-hot Bristol City
West From and Sheffield U to draw
Because they're rubbish?
Eriksen with a shot halfway across the Pennines
A barber shot quartet of stoppage time minutes. A loss would not be music to Mo Po's ears
Glad we're watching Leeds , but thought Plus might show the Canaries vs Bristol City
Pompey vs Barnsley the big match in L1 today
Top of the table Luton play at Coventry tomorrow
A top tier team during our days, Coventry are in major trouble. The Sky Blues have been told by the English Football League that they could be expelled from the league unless they can sort out where they will be playing their home games next season.
Coventry's rental agreement with Premiership rugby union side Wasps, who own the Ricoh Arena, ends at the end of this season.
They should have have left Highfield Road
Spurs with a chance... saved
Two Horse Race
A spell of Spurs pressure and a cross from Danny Rose is headed by Lamela straight to Tom Heaton.
Oh - Lamela goes close. But this looks like a bad loss for Spurs now.
That's it.... United will catch Spurs!!
I am off for walkies
I'll be back
Hope Coventry sort that out. That would be a sad loss.
It's over at Turf Moor as Burnley defeat the Spuds 2-1 , leaving their title hopes in tatters.
Mo Po replaying Bob's message that the dean of officials is not an academic dean.
I'm off for walkies as well.
I'm back after some washing up to watch the big one (for me). Potch is being interviewed after having a naughty episode with Mike Dean at the end of the match. He's more restrained now but he'll likely get a ban or a fine.
The team news out of Elland Road:
Leeds United: Casilla, Ayling, Cooper, Jansson, Alioski, Phillips, Klich, Roberts, Hernandez, Bamford, Harrison. Subs: Peacock-Farrell, Dallas, Brown, Davis, Shackleton, Stevens, Gotts.
Bolton Wanderers: Matthews, Lowe, Beevers, Wheater, Donaldson, Noone, Olkowski, Connolly, O'Neil, Williams, Magennis. Subs: Williams, Little, Vela, Ameobi, Buckley, Hobbs, Murphy.
The coverage has started on the Plus for the big one.
I am back from walkies and breakie
Kate has said that my version of MOT was the most pathetic she's ever heard from me - it is true that I'm a bit froggy this morning, despite my two cuppas.
Come on, you Whites! I want goals, goals, goals!
With Kemar Roofe out for the rest of the season, it's time for Patrick Bamford to step up and start scoring some goals.
Is the Leeds match about about a minute behind Newcastle?
Back for the Toon vs Terriers on NBCSN and Leeds vs Bolton on Plus.
off to the store for a sec
I'll be back
Right into the attack from the off - that's what we want.
The Cherries vs Wolves is the only other Prem match being played .
Oh my goodness! Cassila has to pull off a brilliant save to keep McGinnis out for Bolton!
OH!! Casilla does well to turn around a header from Josh MCGuiness off a cross from Connolly.
Cracking opening to this one. Now we race up the pitch and Roberts is hacked by Lowe. Free kick and yellow.
Leeds with a free kick on the counter off the Bolton corner
Matthews forced to tips over the free kick from Ali
Oh - Ali overhit it but forced the keeper to push it over.
Norwich beat these clowns 4-0. I'd take the same. We need to build up our GD again.
Teesider's in the lead vs QPR as are Evil Ridsdale's lads at the Evil Lions
Bolton parking the bus early doors; we're piling the pressure.
Kal Phillips blasts one well over. Speculative.
Leeds with a spell of pressure as they aim to take the lead.
Glory, glory Leeds United!
Scunny vs Donny Trump finished 1-1 in L1
Potters in the lead vs Villa.
Exeter in the lead at Motley Crewe
Scholesey's lads in the lead at Bury in a local derby.
I am back...missed no goals in both batches
OH!!! Two missed sitters for the Toon on the break in a matter of second s both off the post
Bristol City take the lead at Carrow Road
Oh - nice through ball from Pablo - Bamford collected and blasted a shot that was blocked.
Bristol City could be #50 in the Premier League!
Not happy to see that Boro and Bristol City are both leading.
You're happy Bristol City are winning!!!!
IT'S AT NORWICH!!
We're looking shaky at the back early doors - Notlob getting too many stray chances.
Leeds have to score soon...don't make it a struggle...make it a stroll
I'd prefer a draw in all of those matches between promotion rivals.
A long Toon clearance and a pair of missed sitters by ta pair on Venezuelans. New signing ,Almiron through on goal and off the post with just the keeper to beat then the rebound runned off the post and out for a goal kick
Just noticed Bournemouth are beating Wolves
Absolutely, mate - just like Motley Crue, I want goals, goals, goals!
Come on Leeds
It's Leeds time
Cherries in the lead vs Wolves
No...you want a Bristol City win!!
PENALTY!!!!!
YESSS!!!! Penalty!
PENALTY TO LEEDS AS TYLER ROBERTS WAS DEFINITELY TRIPPED IN THE BOX.
Bamford and Roberts having a "chat" about who to take it.
Lunges in... def pen
Bamford and Roberts arguing about it!
Captain kicks out Roberts
ONE NIL!!
YESSSSS!!!!!!
Bamford strokes it home and we're off and running! 1-0!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! PATRICK BAMFORD SCORES FROM THE SPOT, SENDING MATTHEWS THE WRONG WAY IN THE BOLTON GOAL
Leeds score first...they do not lose...apparently
