Morning Boys
Sorry for the delay starting this thread
Villa and Leicester on the telly
MUR has tuned in Norwich v Sheffield United
I am trying to get to the Newcastle v Southampton link... scouting for Boxing Day!
The Baggies hammered the Swans this morning 5-1 to go back on top
Good morning, Dave. Thanks for getting us started. I am glad to join you for your last LOB appearance of the year
Both center backs almost create at goal for the Foxes and then Villa go down the other end and El Gaz hits the crossbar from five yards out!!
Okay...he was SEVEN yards out
OH! Close range effort fro, El Gazi off the bar for Villa. Great work by Jack Grealish and Matty Targett to set him up
Ronny Rosenthall hit the crossbar at the other end after rounding the keeper for Liverpool. I remember it well
I switched because Goal Rush was showing the match on the telly. Wonder if they'll change that
Tyrone Mings booked for a foul just outside the Villa box. great save by Tom Heaton off the free kick End to end stuff at Villa Park
Sad news of the loss of Ron Saunders yesterday
He was in charge of Villa as they won their last championship in 1981. He then left the next year and didn't win the European Cup!
Also in charge of Brum and West Brom
According to Roger Bennett of Men In Blazers, Ronny was the biggest pie eater at the synagogue. I could see that
They normally don't change
I was watching SS yesterday but Tom had GR on for the goals...it was the Liverpool match
Sad loss indeed . Moment's applause at both Villa Park and CR. He was the first person to get the Canaries appointed to the top flight. I think he left just before the 82 European Cup Final because of a spat with the board. Never was the same manager again
Mings down with a hammy...not good for Villa
Why that score you posted sounds like the Swans were stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey. Bob will probably be okay with that because Leeds and the Baggies are pulling away from the rest of the pack
I cannot get the Newcastle game!
Bloody NBC
Looks like he'll be replaced by Engels. I'm not talking about Little House on the Prairie
If they were NBC Gold-Stein instead you would have no problem
MIngs wants to stay on!
Overtime they try... they last a minute and he's down again
GOAL !!!!! VARDY GIVES THE FOXES THE LEAD ON A TEXTBOOK COUNTER
Vardy breaks and almost blows it but finally nets it!
He's scored in his 8th Prem game in a row
Can Leicester stop Liverpool?
How ironic would it be if Brendan Rodgers wins the league at the expensive Liverpool
I called it!
He should have come off
It gave them a goal!!
Mings selfishness caught Villa . He and his partner , Ezra Konsa , were caught out by the pace and skill of Vardy. off a through ball from Ihenacho. Vardy rounded Tom Heaton, left Konsa on his Arse and tapped in to an empty net. Textbook Foxes
He was no where for the goal
Whose fault?
The player?
The manager?
COST THEM A GOAL
Engels on for Mings too little too late
Especially when Vardy is there
Free kick from Jack Grealish headed inches over by El Gazi. Then Vardy put through by the Fourth President, but took too long to shoot and was stopped this time
That's eight matches in a row he's scored. Didn't he score a dozen matches in a row during the title season?
Decent save by Tim Krul from McGoldrick off a poor clearance from Ben Godfrey
Newcastle link still isn't working
I put on GR
Villa are now in the bottom three with that goal and Saints getting a point
Norwich take the lead!
VAR is checking for handball
Goal is given
GOAL !!! TETTEY GIVES THE CANARIES THE LEAD AT CR OFF THE CORNER. VAR CHECKING BECAUSE ZIMMERMAN APPEARED TO HAVE HIS HAND ON THE BALL PRIOR TO THE STRIKE. VAR AWARDING THE CANARIES THE GOAL
Foxes eight points behind Pool in second and half a dozen points ahead of third placed Citeh
Correct. I think they're a point behind Saints as things stand
Cross from Lundstram so far over it made it halfway to Cromer
If the Canaries win it will be the first road loss of the season for the Evil Blades
Leicester almost in again
Vardy leads a counter down the right, but his pass for Ihenacho was cut out by a sliding Engels. That pass was like something from Little House on the Prairie
The Canaries currently still second from bottom, but just two points from safety. The Hornets in big trouble
That sure was a wasted free kick from the Foxes
David McGoldrick, of the Evil Blades , booed by Canary fans for being a former Tractor Boy
Marvelous Makamba booked for late challenge. Michael Oliver didn't seem to think that challenge was so marvelous
Rain and sleet mixture in blighty today. Sounds like a really raw day
Ihenacho booked for what looked a fair tackle on Matty Targett. Is Michael Oliver "targeting" him?
An all Old Firm Scottish League Cup Final kicks off at 10.
TWO NIL FOXES!
Liverpool beware !
GOAL IHENACHO PUTS THE FOXES TWO UP WITH A CLOSE RANGE NEAR POST VOLLEY OFF NICE ONE TOUCH PASSING DOWN THE LEFT. GREAT CROSS FROM THE FOURTH PRESIDENT
As you probably know the big match on Boxing Day is the Foxes vs Pool. That will have a major bearing on the title race
The Canaries look like they deserve their lead.it's really tight at the bottom other than the Hornets being adrift.
We haven't missed any goals from, SJP
Villa nearly cut apart as Ihenacho was put through, but Tom Heaton did well to come out and block for a corner
A pair of present LOB Bloggers of stoppage time minutes at CR. Same at Villa Park
Ricardo fouls Jack Grealish and is booked for persistent fouling
The free kick from McGinn is headed out by Ndidi for a Villa corner. Canaries one up at the half
Villa back in it with the last kick of the half
GOAL !!! JACK GREALISH SCORES OFF THE CORNER. UNUSUALLY POOR FOXES DEFENDING ALLOWING TO PASS AROUND THEIR BOX AND A GREAT FINISH. nOW 1-2
VAR check
Given...YOU CAN NEVER CELEBRATE
Why is VAR checking? A goal is awarded as it should be. It's 1-2 and we have a contest on our hands
It's Toon 0 Saints 0 at the half
Why can't Sheffield Utd wear their regular kit!!!
There isn't a flash of Red, White or Black on the Norwich kit
I HATE IT!
The second half is underway from CR
Agreed, Dave. It doesn't make any sense
We are off for the second half in the Second City
Just a reminder we need the Seagulls to defeat Wolves today. Strange as this may sound it will be a tougher match to day for the Seagulls than on Thursday
The second half is underway from Villa Park
I hate how today's commentators scream when some takes a shot.... just incase it is a goal
GOAL !!! THE EVIL BLADES TIE IT UP AT CR
Blades tie it up early in the second half
Baldock set free down the right and his cross was headed in by Enda Stevens that Enda up in the back of the net
Evans with a great header gives Leicester their two goal lead
GOAL !!!! JONNY ON THE SPOT AS MR. EVANS HEADS THE FOXES INTO A 1-3 LEAD. NICE HEADER OFF A GREAT CORNER
Soton take the lead at SJP
GOA. FAFFING ABOUT AT THE BACK BY WHAT LOOKED LIKE VRANCIC .BALDOCK PICKED HIS POCKET, TURNED HIM AND SCORED WITH A WELL PLACED FINISH BALDOCK GIVES THE EVIL BLADES A 1-2 LEAD AT CR
Blades now take the lead!!
Danny Ings with yet another goal for the Saints. He's really been crucial for them
In the past few minutes the standings have drastically changed. Saints up to 14th while the Canaries are now five points from safety
Evil Blades up to 8th and a lengthy VAR check at CR to see if the Blades have a penalty.
Offside given , which meant it was a dead play before any penalty decision.,
Vrancic with a shot deflected for a Canaries corner. Corner from Beundia headed wide by Pukki, but another Canaries corner
What exactly did Chris Wilder say/do at the half? He sure got a response!
Each away team has scored once in the second half
Trezeguet on for Marvellous Mkamba , who didn't exactly live up to his first name today
John mcGinn booked for an agricultural challenge
In the SJP match... both teams wearing black shorts...not a problem!
Agreed. Shouldn't detract from the match
It;' like for like as Lys Mousset goes off with an injured hammy and is replaced by Cally Robinson
Harvey Barnes on for Ihenacho
Villa with a shot deflected for a corner
Cyuncu down off a stray elbow from Wesley Crusher. Looks like he'll be okay
Long range effort from the Fourth President curled about a foot over
United still in fifth.... only Wolves can knock us off later today with a win
The Toon tie it up
Shelvy scored scores again
Mr President should have scored there!
Vardy could have shot himself
OH!!! Wide by a wide open Fourth President on the counter . Ndidi put through Vardy and he laid it back to the President
Saints now one point clear of the drop zone and behind the Hammers on goal difference
Like for like as Jamaal Lewis is on for LUFC Academy grad, Sam Byram and another like for like as local Canaries lad , Todd Cantwell, on for Oriel Hernandez, a Cuban born German
Evil Blades down to ten men. Chris Basham gets a straight red for a challenge on Kenny McLean that was anything but clean
He's still on the pitch due to a VAR check. He's back on. It's been changed to a yellow, which actually looks to be the right decision. Bob will not be pleased
Trezeguet went down , looking for a Villa Penalty. Perfectly timed tackle by Ricardo
VARDY scores again!
He should be in the England squad
GOAL!!! 1-4 VILLA THEN THE FOXES GO DOWN THE PITCH AND VARDY HAS A BRACE
I think he retired from international footie. Is that correct?
The Foxes goal was a counter off the Villa corner from that incident. Vardy got behind Matt Targett , beating him for pace and finished past the stranded Tom Heaton
McGoldrick misses two great chances and the Canaries fans cheering because it's a former Tractor Boy guilty of those misses
Dennis Srebny on for Vrancic on the final roll of the dice from Daniel Farke
Great save by Dean Henderson from Todd Cantwell for a Canaries corner
Justin on for Chilly on the final roll of the dice from the Brodge
Like for like as Olly McBurnie is on for David McGoldrick
Newcastle take the lead... off a rebound
VAR WILL CHECK
I think he's in
The Toon have come from behind to take a 2-1 lead vs Saints . Fernandez with the goal
It's count
Toon up to tenth place, Gunners down to eleventh. Saints back in the drop zone ,, behind Villa on goal difference. Canaries four points from safety
RED CARD OVERTURNED
Norwich 1-2 Sheffield United
Chris Basham survives. The video ref reckons it is only a yellow.
"It's not football anymore," is the latest chant sang by the four sides of Carrow Road.
Half a dozen stoppage time minutes at CR
The Toon better not get something on Boxing Day
5 at SJP
for Once, I think VAR got a decision right and glad that delay was only about 60 seconds.
agreed, but it appears that you will be attending a right old contest on Brucie's return to OT. Will you say hi to him from me?
Is anyone giving Bruce any credit
They are 10th and only two points behind United in fifth
Only a trio at Villa Park and Jack Grealish with his requisite booking
I have been giving Brucie credit all season on the LOB. He's done a great job
In terms of the standings it's as you were prior to kickoff
COME ON YOU SEAGULLS!
Saints want a pen... VAR probably will check
Never a pen
Corner with 90 seconds left
Cleared
Leicester stay in striking distance of Liverpool
Over to Norfolk
gREAT SAVE BY tOM hEATON FROM hARVEY bARNES OFF A RUN AND PASS FROM Albrighton and it finishes 1-4 to the Foxes at Villa PArk. Off to CR
Blades in
Now over to SJP
Over at CR. Evil Blades win 1-2. Off to SJP. Toon lead Saints 2-1 and that's how it finishes
All over and Toon win again
I am off to take Shadow for walkies in the frozen tundra
I'll be back for a bit
Back from walkies with Sparky and ready for the Seagulls vs Wolves.
COME ON YOU SEAGULLS
Celtic took the lead vs Rangers in the Scots League Cup Final then had a player sent off three minutes later. Should be an interesting final quarter of the match
Morning, MUR - I'm here for the start of the Brighton v. Wolves match. It's a beautiful morning here in WNY, so we took some time to enjoy a relaxing breakfast and then do a bit of yard work.
Here is the team news out of the Amex:
Brighton & Hove Albion (4-2-3-1): Ryan; Burn, Webster, Dunk, Alzate; Pröpper, D Stephens; Trossard, Mooy, Groß; Maupay.
Subs: Button, Montoya, Duffy, Bernardo, Bissouma, Jahanbakhsh, Murray
Wolverhampton Wanderers (4-3-3): Patricio; Dendoncker, Coady, Saïss; Doherty, Neves, Moutinho, Jonny; Traoré, Jiménez, Jota
Subs: Ruddy, Vallejo, Bennett, Kilman, Vinagre, Neto, Cutrone
Referee: Jon Moss
Enjoyed reading your comments earlier. You're right that I'm not that fussed about WBA's win over Swansea.
They're off from the AMEX
Good Morning, Bob. Great to enjoy the pleasure of your company. A lovely morning here as well. Glad you and Kate were able to enjoy some good weather
Would love Brighton to win like A Flock of Seagulls instead of the visitors being Hungry Like the Wolves
Brighton with an early chance there.
Scramble in the Wolves box and a close range effort from Neil Maupay blocked for a corner. The corner from Gross was dunked over with a free header
Another effort from Neil Maupay. This one a long range effort straight to Rui Patricio.
The Monday nighter is a London Derby as the Hammers host the Gunners. Sadly it's 16th vs 11th as both clubs have had massively disappointing seasons
The referee Jon Moss getting a bit of treatment now.
I am back from walkies
It be cold
Graham "Harry " Potter got a contract extension till 2025 with the Seagulls
Welcome back, Dave. You're always welcome to visit Harlingen if you're looking for warmer weather
When you were on walkies, Brighton started like " A Flock of Seagulls."
Celtic still a goal up and a man down in the Old Firm Scots League Cup Final
Boy that shot was a rocket!!
Just wide
And Rangers missed a penalty
First Wolves shot and a rocket of an effort from Ruben Neves from 25 yards out cannons off the stanchion off a poor defensive header from Steve Alzate
That missed penalty must have been leess than a minute ago
Doesn't look Leeds match is on Plus this week
I did hear on Talksport that Liverpool's CL match followed by Leeds match is on Talksport 2
The Celtic player sent off is an 18 year old signed this Summer from the Citeh Academy. There's a real shocker!
What A really Superb Pre Saiss saved header by Matty Ryan off a cross from Raul Jimenez
Nice save by Brighton keeper
On my walk, they started saying how well Potter has done at Brighton and him being given a new contract already... BUT... they have three points less than last season!
PNE vs the Cottagers is on Plus on Tuesday in a playoff six pointer. I can see that one
Celtic looking to win their TENTH domestic trophy in a row!
I agree. Not sure what all the fuss is about other than they like the style of play from the Seagulls
Rangers have been the better team all game
14 shots to 5
7 to 1 on target
Brum vs QPR on Plus on Wednesday, which means absolutely nothing to our Bob. The one on Tuesday is more significant
I wonder if most of those came once Celtic went down a man. A nail biting finish
I am watching a link on youtube of the match with two blokes talking from the living room!
Both sides in that Old Firm Final have made all their substitutions, so no stoppage time changes to ruin your day
I don't think so
LOL! they're any more professional than the LOB! I guess better than nothing. It's also on B/R, but not subscribed to that
Oh - what a cracker from Neves! Close call there.
It is bucketing it down in Glasgow
They just hit the 90th minute
6 added minutes
I didn't understand the meaning of the goal scored by Webster at the EM, so I looked it up in the dictionary
That's a fair amount of stoppage time. Do they use VAR North of the Border?
Welcome back, UWS - it's lovely and warm here today. But I hear we're getting a wintry pattern later in the week.
Rangers can't get the ball over...modern day crossing
4 minutes remaining
Rangers hits one inches wide
A draw here would be a decent result , but a Seagulls win would be better
Time running out for the Gers , making them say GRRR!
Forster collects a cross... two minutes left
We are supposed to get some rain tomorrow to fall on our TWO FEET of snow
Forster down hurt...surely he's wasting time..I Hate it
We're having a cool down too. Only in the upper 50s today and low 60s Wednesday.
Oh - Brighton get caught up in some modern footballing nonsense at the back and almost let Jimenez in.
Rod Stewart in the stands... he's enjoying it!
Forster...surprise surprise...he's ok
6 minutes are up but more will be added!
Raul Jimenez should have given Wolves the lead, but hesitated and his close range effort was blocked
Rangers cross... modern day!
Really Surprising news from Hampden Park, LOL!
GOAL! Diego Jota finishes off a quick break to take the lead.
Celtic have won!
Of course Forster is sliding around not hurt!
Celtic win their fourth League Cup in a row
10th domestic trophy in a row
GOAL!!!JOTA GIVES WOLVES THE LEAD.
Wolves up to 5th , United now in 6th
Really good interplay between the two Wolves strikers there - that shows the advantage of having a true strike partnership, something very few teams have these days.
It started with a long Seagulls clearance intercepted at the back by Wolves . Several passes later,Jota passed to Jimenez down the left and he passed into the box for Jota to score with a first time finish
Not good news for United. We could use a Seagulls equalizer
Jota through as a long ball was headed on , but Matty Ryan rushed out to block
1-1
Nice goal
GOAL! Maupay with a great strike to equalize for Brighton!
GOAL !!!NEIL MAUPAY TIES IT UP FOR THE SEAGULLS WITH A SPECTACULAR VOLLEY OFF A NICE LONG BALL.
Rui Patricio may want to have that one back. He shouldn't really be beaten at his near post from that distance.
1-1 Game on!
Nice long ball from Dale Stephens to Maupay and Rui Patricio had trouble judging it do the power and swerve
