Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Afternoon, chaps - you'd better find an easy chair, because it's about to get busy. We have six top-flight fixtures on our menu this evening/morning/whatever-it-is-where-you-are, including a Merseyside derby (which gets its own liveblog elsewhere, and kicks off 45 minutes after every other game, but we’ll still be monitoring). The teams first, third and fourth in the table all play at home, with Leicester hosting managerless crisis club Watford and Chelsea welcoming Aston Villa, while Southampton, having seen off the Hornets and landed a killer blow on their briefly-manager Quique Sanches Flores in their last outing, play their second consecutive win-or-bust bottom-three humdinger as Norwich come to town.
Blimey - United are 1-0 up within the first ten minutes, through a goal by Marcus Rashford!
United aren’t just leading Spurs, they’re roaring at them with real vim every time they get the ball. It’s all extremely encouraging for the home side.
God Afternoon, Bob. Here to join you and United one up a quarter of an hour in. Harry Winks booked for a nasty challenge on Daniel James.. I've seen red given for those
Now Cissy fouls Fred. Did Jose instruct his players to foul and try to injure every United player?
OH!!! Free kick from Rash curled inches wide
The only other goal in English Footie is in the EFL Trophy . Tranny on top vs the United Academy
That's United up to 5th now on the strength of that goal, while Spurs have dropped to 8th.
Afternoon, MUR - buckle up, mate - it's going to be a lively one!
I sure will , mate. It's actually been that way all day for me. Something wrong with the energy here?
In a relegation six pointer the Saints take the lead vs the Canaries. Saints out of the drop zone and replaced by the Toffees , who are a point behind Saints.
Gazza with a nice save from Mason Greenwood
The Mersey Derby kicks off in about twenty minutes. The Toffees need at least a draw at Anfield. A tough ask for the Toffees.
I hope you'll have a relaxing evening, mate.
The Tractor Boys in the lead at Posh in the EFL Trophy
The Saints are on a bit of a high after that big win over fellow relegation strugglers Watford. And they've taken the lead against another - Norwich - tonight. Danny Ings with that vital goal.
Deodoncker has fired a set piece home for Wolves against West Ham.
OH!!! Off the bar from Rash with a spectacular long range effort
Chelsea takes the lead vs Villa on JT's return to SB. Tammy Abraham , who was on loan at Villa last season, with the goal
Lindy wide with a curler
United should be playing like this regularly, not just when they want to show Jose
Hey Boys
I am home early from work
Been watching it on App
Looking good so far
The United Academy ties it up at Tranny. Bob wants a visual
Good Afternoon, Dave. Glad your here to witness the best United performance in a while
Just tuned in Gold for the Merseyside Derby
Foxes Academy on top at Donny Trump
So far... hope they don't drop!
Of course, they are going to be on fire on Boxing Day!
I need to do the same. I believe kickoff is in ten minutes
Tammy Abraham has scored yet another goal in the Prem tonight. Chelsea up 1-0 pm Villa.
Toffees now in the drop zone.
Afternoon, UWS - how are you, mate? Still digging snow?
He was on loan at Villa last season. Did he celebrate?
That was a great video you sent
I WANT ANOTHER GOAL!
posh ties it up vs the Tractor Boys in the EFL Trophy
I remember Jose's knee slide for Porto....United needed a win and Porto tied it up late past Howard!
For United that is!
I would love to see United thrash Spurs and make Jose leave with his tail between his legs
I think McTom and Fred in the mid and Pogba as the #10 would be good
Lingard instead of Fred?
I remember that well. Agreed that we want United to score and may times
Is McTomain out injured?
As I type, Wolves 5th , United 6th... of course we were fifth against Villa and then United decide to play half the Sid eon half
Foxes vs Hornets the only scoreless match. How long will that last?
BUGGER
Dele Alli equalizes!
TERRIBLE DEFENDING!
DAMN DELLE ALLI TIES IT UP FOR SPURS AFTER DE GEA MADE A KICK SAVE
Young is pathetic
Agreed. Atrocious defending . That undoes all United's hard work. VAR reviewing. Checking for hand ball on Delle Sandwich
VAR checking a handball...never a handball!
Better not be overturned.
Villa tie it up at the Bridge
Goal given at OT.... totally deserved
Villa ties it up at SB
Leicester in VAR penalty controversy! Vardy goes down in the area as Mariappa challenges, but the referee is unimpressed and books the Leicester striker for his troubles. VAR checks it, but it’s not overturned.
Only Leicester Watford is goalless....apart from the derby at Anfield...that one hasn't started yet
United good start all for NOWT
Trezeguet with the Villa goal. The Egyptian, not the former French star
Dele has really turned it around under Jose - did he just hate Potch?
Saints two up vs Canaries
Saints two up vs the Canaries
Toffees in real trouble and have the matter of a Derby At Anfield , of all places
That goal was scored by Ryan Bertrand off a corner from JWP.
Everton in the bottom three....wow
United down to 8th
Gazza rushes out to smother from the on rushing Rash, who is down for the count
Correct, Dave. Toffees need a draw at Anfield top move out of the bottom three on goal difference.Don't see that happening
Norwich are in deep trouble now - I feel for Yellows, who I believe is still a season ticket holder.
An LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes
Correct, Bob. He is definitely a Canaries fan through and thorugh
If the Toffees finish this evening in the drop zone, surely Marco Silva will be the main course on Bill Kenwright's next meal.
Wonder if Steve is routing for United on his birthday
Half time at OT
It all started so well!
Why couldn't more of those shots gone in!
It's 1-1 at the half at OT
Come on, United!
Agreed. One mistake has cost United
I'm watching the Mersey Derby on Gold where the Toffees ale looking for a less than likely Silva lining
Origi scores in the DERBY again!
GOAL !!!ORIGI SCORES PAST THE STRANDED PICKFORD ON A THROUGH BALL FROM MANE AS THE TOFFEES WERE SUCKER PUNCHED
Took him 6 minutes this time instead of 96!
Easily rounding Pickford
Jim Beglin says Marco Silva dead man walking. I agree with Jim Beglin
Becky Lowe doesn't do midweeks!
She lives in California so some reason when she works in Connecticutt
Looks like Adrian is trash talking Calvert- Lewin. Lots of things to say to these Toffees.
Hard for her since she is needing to pick up the kids from school/ daycare
Wonder how many frequent flyer miles she has. Bet it's not a Lowe number
Oh dear...punmeister is back... did he ever leave
Liverpool looks like they want this more than the Toffees.
No just took a short nap!
But for a last ditch tackle by Holgate on Mane the Reds would have gone two up
At least United have made some chances and had shots today
I really hope they do the same in the second half
Marco Silva looks really desperate
Agreed. A win vs Spurs would be fantastic
I just like the performance
I want the same effort
A Gunners win tomorrow vs the Seagulls would be a great birthday present for Steve while Bob will be hoping the Toon win at Bramall Lane tomorrow.
Everton really down in the dumps. I don't imagine that Marco Silva will last much longer there. He could easily be sacked in the morning.
Nasty from Robertson...he should be carded for that!
VAR should take a look...it was TOTALLY on purpose
Hand bags between Andy Robertson and Tom Davies. Pool starting to rattle the Toffees.
Steve's birthday today?
How old?
Two nil Pool
GOAL !!!SHAQUIRI PUTS POOL TWO UP . THE ROUT IS ON
Everton players arguing with each other! Two pairs of players complaining to each other
Nice long diagonal from TAA to Mane and his reverse pass found Shaquiri , who finished past the stranded Pickford
Rich Arlison with a header that lands in Row D, which is what I would rate the header
We are off at Old Trafford
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Second half underway from OT
Chelsea retake the lead early in the second half
A rout would surely mean the end for Marco Silva
Penalty to United.... if VAR gives it
Everton score!!
Don't think this will be given!
PENALTY UNITED! CISSY ACTING LIKE ONE AS HE TRIPS RASH
GOAL !!!MICHAEL KEANE PULLS IT BACK TO 2-1 WITH A SHOT OFF A CORNER
That second Chelsea goal was mounted in
It's given. Rash to take
VAR checking.... will it or won't it...given
Rashford to take.... They've missed four of six
COME ON RASH..... Don't encroach....YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's always a bad sign when players are fighting with each other.
NOW SCORE MORE!!!
YESSSSSSSS!!!! RASH WITH HIS AND UNITED'S SECOND , SENDING GAZZA THE WRONG WAY. UNITED LEAD 2-1
Wahay! Well done, boys!
Now Three First Names sticks a foot in
Everton are back in this!
Rich Arlison so seriously injured he got up within a second to try and start a fight with TAA. What a jerk!
Please.... keep playing well!!
United have played well against the big uns... of course we are taking on Newcastle on Boxing Day!
Thanks, Bob. We want to stick it to Jose and we really need a win
Everton almost in again!
They want a pen... will VAR check?
I don't think it is... not given
Calvert- lewin put through by Holgate. Was he fouled in the box by Van Dijck. VAR says no
Spurs with a chance!!
COME ON UNITED....don't concede again
The Toffees have been a completely different team since the goal
Three first names has gone in one ref's book.
Young getting told off...just play the damn game Ash
With Leicester currently drawing, Liverpool are now 10 points up on them in second.
Foxes take the lead against hapless Watford
It's halftime and Desmond watching Tranny vs the United Academy in the EFL Trophy
Spurs are pressuring too much... this makes Ole become more defensive... and it never works
Vardy scores from the spot... 7 games in a row with a goal
It was scored with a Vardy spot kick
I think he now has 14 Prem goals this season
Foxes vs Pool will be the most discussed Boxing Day fixture
Origi scores his brace
Yeah, Vardy is top of the heap on 14 goals now.
Tammy Abraham and Aubama both have 10
Aguero and Rash have 9, Mane and Sterling have 8
Both players who have been brought in Org and Shaq with all three goals
GOAL !!!ORIGI AT IT AGAIN WITH A SUPERB CHIP OFF A NICE THROUGH BALL FROM LOVEREN. HIS SECOND OF THE MATCH AND NOW 3-1
I need a goal from Greenwood
Origi loves his Mersey Derbies
Not good by Rash there... keep it simple stupid
Michael Keane with a nasty foul on Origi, presumably because he was made to look a fool on that last goal. He should have been booked.
Are you stating the KISS principle?
4 wins out of last 19 games....AWFUL STUFF BY UNITED
Rash tries to do too much again... keep it simple stupid
Totally
Marco Silva makes a change in the 35th minute. Sidibe replaced by St. Bernard. An attacking move
Digne heads out a cross from Milner for a Pool corner
Dan James straight to Gazza with a curler.
Bill Kenwright does not see a Silva lining for his relegation threatened Toffees.
Nice cross by Spurs...not good Obi Wan
Nice diving reaction from Pickford off a cross from Wijnaldum off a nice reverse pass from Shaquiri
The Finnish finisher scores for Norwich
2-1 Saints
Bob and Dave want to watch Bill Kenwright have some Silva vittles in his scrambled eggs tomorrow morning
Pukki is the only player who may save Norwich this season. The rest are rubbish.
Nice description, UWS
I'm sure that Kenwright will have Marco on toast tomorrow morning.
Andy Robertson with a moronic trip on Calvert- Lewin. He was going nowhere
I'm off home to watch the rest of it, chaps - cheerio!
LOL, Bob. He's already been roasted!
United should have beaten Villa
Should have beaten Southampton
Should have beaten Wolves
Should have beaten Palace
Should have beaten Sheffield United
That's at least 12 Points down the drain
Cheers, Bob. Look forward to chatting with you soon.
nice effort by James
Decent long range save by Gazza from Dan James
Hope United are 4-1 up by the time you get home
I agree with description 100%, UWS
Spurs break...Sisso with a useless pass
Long may it continue
No Hendo , Salah, or Bobby Chompers and the Toffees still being thrashed
Nearly an OG by Loveren, but stopped by superb save from Adrian
Mane makes it four one
GOAL !!!MANE OH MANE AS HE PUTS POOL 4-1 UP ON A BREAK OFF A TOFFEES CORNER. NICE PASS FROM TAA
Forgot Newcastle
15 points!
Into stoppage time.
A question for UWS. What would the score be if Salah, Chompers, and Hendo were starting?
McTom is acting plonkerish... stop it
Peter Dreary says Liverpool pressing Toffees depressing. Nice description by Peter Dreary of the Dreary toffees
Everton get a goal back
4-2
GOAL !!! RICH ARLISON HEADS IN A GOAL OFF A CROSS FROM HIS COMPATRIOT, BERNARD. NOW 4-2
United have 17 minutes plus to hold on or add too
They deserve the win today
What a classic Mersey Derby
Pool lead the Toffees 4-2 at the half
Not a good clearance by Maguire
Tranny lead the United Academy 3-2 in the EFL Trophy.
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
United have slowed down too much... too defensive
Pereira about to come on
WHY?
Leave as is
Back from a brief trip to the bog. Did I miss much?
Bugger... taking off Greenwood!
Again... TOO NEGATIVE!
A deserved standing ovation for Mason Greenwood. Agreed with you. Not a great substitution
Nuttin
The home team winning every Prem match today. The Mersey derby the only match which is not a one goal lead
Stop taking an age De Gea
Ta for the update
North of the border
Rangers were two up but Desmond has arrived in Aberdeen
Celtic still one up at home to Hamilton
They meet in the League Cup Final at the weekend
Probably just over 10 minutes to go
United can't sit back
United survive a Spurs shot
Serge Aurier straight to De Gea.
GO FORWARD
Too many passes backwards or sideways
Wolves double their lead
United cannot give these points away!
COME ON!
Lingard down with cramp it looks like
If it finishes 2-1 Jose will claim his side was jobbed by the refs and that the refs are biased toward United. What a numpty!
Cutrone puts Wolves two up vs the Hammers
Now more negative moves by Ole.... I don't like it!!
Shaw in for Lingard
OGS Shaw shutting up shop as Lindy is replaced with a defender
73,000 at OT...not full
