Seventeen minutes in and 0-0 in both 1 PM kickoffs.
Interesting comments by Chris Wilder calling his players L1 stroke Championship players after the loss to the Foxes on Thursday
Afternoon, David - thanks for getting us going this afternoon. Not the best matches today, but it's still football in July. I'm marooned at work but listening to Talk Sport.
It's the two minute timeout at Bramall Lane
Not much at stake in the Brighton v. Newcastle. Both are basically safe for another Premier League season.
Sheffield United need a win tonight against Everton to keep the pressure up for European qualification. I agree with Chris Wilder, of course - they're a rubbish side.
Good afternoon, Bob. How is your Monday?
At first I thought it was you making those comments, not Chris Wilder, LOL!
I'm not watching the match on Gold
Play resumes at Bramall Lane
Rich Arlison down, holding his head
Chris Basham Digne into for an Evil Blades corner that's cleared
Ben Osborn grabs Theo on a Toffees break. Lucky not to be booked
Thanks, mate - it's been a good day. I've just about put my Fall 2020 schedule together. It's been a bear this year because of the whole issue of instructional modes. We're also spreading out the instructional day so that there aren't groups of students jammed into the hallways.
I've got two weeks left in this big office that you visited back in 2018. I'll be back in a regular office. I just bumped into the painter who's been working on cleaning and painting the new one for me. It looks excellent.
Half an hour in and not much to write home about yet.
Tom Davies booked for a rash foul on McBurrnie, who was BURRned
WOW! Sounds like a busy Summer. Stay safe.
The Evil Blades Enda up with a corner won by Stevens . A header goes straight up and is gathered by Pickford
Very busy, but the footer has been a nice distraction. Looking for the LUFC celebration on Wednesday at ER.
The matches are so poor that the blokes on Talk Sport have resorted to 80s karaoke.
If the Blades slip up today, Arsenal will be in pole position to leapfrog them into 8th.
The Toffees win their first corner of the match
Corner from Siggy goes to Theo and Dean Henderson saves a close range header from Calvert-Lewin. It actually came off the post. The closest either team has come to scoring
Until the last couple of minutes they have been that poor
The Gunners still in with a chance of finishing in the top seven. They need the Evil Blades, Wolves and Spurs to slip up.
An LOB blogging duo of stoppage time minutes
McBURRnie with the Evil Blades first shot on target. Deflected straight to Pickford
Poor challenge by Olly Norwood on Rich Arlison. Deservedly booked for that
It's 0-0 at the half in both matches.
HO HUM!
Not a lot of entertainment on offer for the punters.
The second half is underway from Bramall Lane
Let's hope for some Toffees goals.
GOAL !!!RICH ARLISON HEADS IN A FREE KICK FROM SIGGY TO GIVE THE TOFFEES THE LEAD
You got your wish ,mate and sooner rather than later
Wahay - just what the doctor ordered!
The Blades are down to 54 points again, two points off the pace of Wolves in 7th and only a point above Burnley and Arsenal on 53. Arsenal have a real chance now.
Billy bloody Sharp now on for the Blades. Best of luck to them.
Back after my wife, the RN , and I were helping my father-in-law with a bout of acid reflux
Tom Davies tackles George Baldock for an Evil Blades corner
Billy not looking Sharp at all off that pass from John Fleck as Pickford easily gathered
Calvert-Lewin Enda up with a booking for a foul on Stevens on his return to Bramall Lane
Not Sharp at all. He's pants.
Richarlison is booked for kicking the ball away - silly boy.
Into a Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time minutes with Bob singing about another Evil Blades defeat
Bob will be looking at Siggy and Rich Arlison as heroes for being involved in that winning goal
I'm loving it - this is a huge blow to the Blades, losing at home to a side that is solidly mid-table with nothing to gain today. It definitely lets the Arsenal in with a chance of European qualification.
I'm off home now. I'll catch up with you there.
It's over and the Toffees win 0-01 thanks to that headed goal from the free kick early in the second half
Off to the AMEX. Still 0-0
It's over at the AMEX and it finishes 0-0
The day concludes with Wolves vs Palace. If Wolves win then the Evil Blades and Burnley will be eliminated from EL qualification. Palace with half a dozen consecutive losses since clinching safety
Nice to see both teams wearing their traditional colors as they did at Bramall Lane
They're off from Molineaux.
Just home in time for kickoff between Wolves and Palace.
Welcome home. Great to have you around for what hopefully is a better match than the 1 PM kickoffs
Wolves have the chance to leapfrog Spurs into 6th, a position that might be crucial in terms of Europa League qualification.
Bright start from Palace here. Could this be a repeat of the earlier result with the mid table side defeating the top side away from home?
Burnley and the Evil Blades are eliminated from EL qualification with a Wolves win
Mamadou Sakho is limping off now - he's done for the evening.
After a lengthy stoppage play resumes as the injured Sakho is replaced by the Coyote
It's the Coyote against Wolves. My odds would be on the Wolves. How about you?
OH! Just wide by Geoff Schlupp. Boli caught faffing by Zaha , who found Schlupp for that chance
Jonny called for a foul on Townsend about 25 yards from the Wolves goal
Free kick from Townsend curled and straight to Rui Patricio
Coyotes are more common to your neck of the woods, so I've never had any encounters with them. I'm guessing Wolves.
GOAL !!!DANIEL PODENCE GIVES WOLVES THE LEAD WITH HIS FIRST WOLVES GOAL
GOAL! Wolves take the lead through a great team goal. Easy finish by Podense.
1-0!
It started with Townsend gifting possession just outside the Palace box. Matt Doherty passed to Moutinho, who chipped a pass into the box for Matt Doherty to pass across the face of the goal leaving Podence with an easy tap in
Raul Jimenez heads out a free kick for a Palace corner
A trio of stoppage time minutes
Moutinho with a foul near his corner flag
Wolves is one up at the half
Half time at Molineux with the home side 1-0 up. Not a great spectacle but it's football in July, eh?
The second half is underway from Molineaux
Palace have not won when trailing at the half since May 2018. Not look good for Palace
Agreed, Bob. It hasn't been a great day for football, but a cure for the Summer Time Blues
Into the second half now at Molineux.
Zaha wins a free kick for falling down just outside the Wolves box
Close range effort from Adama Traore well blocked by Guaita
Corner from Moutinho headed out by Joe ward for another
Nearly a second goal there for Podense.
Next corner headed away by the first man, Jordan Ayew
The ref is not a fan of McCarthyism as he books McCarthy for a nasty foul on Daniel Podence
Connor Coady booked for a push from behind on Jordan Ayew
Raul Jimenez headed on a punt from Rui Patricio and Podence was through , but Guaita rushed out of his box to clear
GOAL !!!!JONNY ON THE SPOT AS WOLVES GO TWO UP
GOAL! Wolves are 2-0 up and flying now. Traore made it and Jonny finished it off.
Adama Traore went on a run down the right and his pass went off of Raul Jimenez to Jonny who was on the spot to turn and score with a great finish
That leads to the two minute timeout
Play resumes
The Coyote called for a foul on Podence off a long diagonal pass. Looked a soft call.
A Wolves change and like for like as Jota is on for compatriot, Daniel Podence
Riedewald on for Schlupp as Palace makes a change
Adama Traore with a long range effort straight to Guaita
The color guy is complaining about simulation now. It's an old whine at this point.
Pedro Neto on for Adama Traore, who just got booked for throwing a tantrum
Agreed, Bob. Too many complaints gets really irritating
A trio of stoppage time minutes
Zaha with a shot straight to Rui Patricio
It's over and Wolves defeat Palace 2-0
That's it - Wolves take one more big step toward EL qualification. One more win should do it for them.
Well, those weren't the greatest matches ever but it was nice chatting with you as always.
Cheerio!
Cheers Bob. Great chatting. Enjoy the rest of the day and look forward to chatting tomorrow.
CHEERS!
