Another Early Start!
It's been a thrilling start to the season for Leeds fans, as our team has been involved in two 4-3 crackers. Today, we travel to Bramall Lane for a Yorkshire Derby against Sheffield United. This is a rivalry that goes back a hundred years and is traditionally one of the most tense affairs of the year. Yet, based on my survival rubric, we don't need anything from this match, so a draw would only be a bonus for us. I'm thus going to just sit back and enjoy it. Come on, you Leeds! #MOT!

Morning, boys - I've got my cuppa at the ready for this very early kick-off for a Sunday morning. I'm hoping for yet another exciting outing for my Leeds boys.
Team news out of the Steel City this morning:
Sheffield United (3-5-2) Ramsdale; Basham, Ampadu, O’Connell; Baldock, Berge, Norwood, Lundstram, Stevens; Burke, McGoldrick.
Substitutes: Foderingham, Jagielka, Lowe, Fleck, Norwood, Sharp, McBurnie.
Leeds (4-1-4-1) Meslier; Ayling, Koch, Cooper, Dallas; Phillips; Costa, Roberts, Klich, Harrison; Bamford.
Substitutes: Caprile, Struijk, Alioski, Davis, Shackleton, Poveda, Rodrigo.
Referee Paul Tierney.
No changes for Marcelo Bielsa from the side that defeated Fulham at Elland Road last week. He's obviously liked what he's seen from this outfit, and so have I.
No build-up so far for this one. Instead NBC Sports are playing the highlights from yesterday's match.
Good Morning, Bob. Here to join you in the big Derby match and a similar outcome for your United as ours yesterday
Got a pot of coffee brewing.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
BEAT THE PLASTIC WARE TEAM!
Morning Boys
Leeds better make the most of me getting up early
Good Morning, Dave. I second that. The roosters are still asleep over here since it's even an hour earlier over here
First Prem draw of the season yesterday in a really crazy match
Finally, we're set to go with the first Yorkshire Derby in 20 years. MOT!
First Yorkshire Derby since 2000?
Morning, boys - thanks for waking up early for this one!
They're off from Bramall Lane.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
This might be my only match again today
Off to Home Depot after this match, walkies and then finish staining the deck
We are off
Oooh, just in time. very good bleedin' early morning to you all.
MOT!!
Cheers, Bob. Glad to support you in this Yorkshire Derby Match. Last one vs a Not so Big Club.
Welcome, Steve! Thanks for joining us.
Good morning, Steve. Very early in Texas. I may step out to wake up the roosters
Oh - great break there but Jack decided to square it rather than jinking inside and hitting one.
Leeds own the Blades for the promotion fight from a couple of seasons ago!
Let's take a look at the Where Are They Now File
Norwich.... Winner... Championship
Blades...RU... Premier League
Leeds... 3rd... Premier League
OH! Nice break from Leeds, but the final pass from Jack Harrison was cut back to Chris Basham who hoofed it away in typical Sheffield style
Leeds break fast.... I like to see it!
I think Daniel James would be so dangerous for you
These sides certainly know each other well from the 2018/2019 campaign during which the Blades just pipped us for second.
OH! Aaron Ramsdale with a nice save despite it being an Ayling effort
Oh - Ayling pulled a great save out of Ramsdale.
Ripping start from the Whites. Good to see this one means something. I hate a tepid rivalry
Agreed, Dave. Dan James would fit perfectly into Bielsa's system
The Evil Blades have yet to score a Prem goal this season. That streak needs to continue
Oh - Lundstram was in there but fortunately put his effort well wide. Cracking start to this one.
Lundstram drags a shot wide . That finish would explain why they have yet to get off the mark. He missed a penalty at Villa Park on Monday
Referee Tierney went back and produced a yellow card for Kal for that earlier chop on McGoldrick.
Kal Phillips booked for a foul on Dave McGoldrick in the build up to that chance
Kal Phillips sure carved into McGoldrick's leg like one of those sharp chopping knives
Leeds needs to be careful as Sandy Berger led an Evil Blades break, where they will probably be the most dangerous despite being the home team
We're bossing the midfield so far - the Blades are looking like the away side.
Very petty decision to card Phillips. Unless it's really bad one, I don't think a card is justified when the game is in single digits. Modern referring, sheesh.
Morning Steve
Meslier did well to mop up that ball through to McGoldrick.
Did you guys hear Woy's comments about the game being ruined?
Agreed, Steve. Usually there is an unwritten rule in fierce rivalries such as this that those type of challenges are let go because it's taken in to accocunt that this is a derby. I think they want all leagues to be officiated as if it's La Liga or Serie A
A masked Gareth Southgate in the stands today, perhaps having a look at Kal Phillips' form.
Morning Dave. After I finish this pot of coffee, I can drop by to stain your deck gratis. No need to thank me, just close the curtains.
I didn't listen to the interview but think he referred to that ridiculous penalty awarded to the Toffees and agree with him on that
Yeah - I saw those this morning in the review show. Sour grapes from Woy.
Can we all agree that Chelsea's recovery yesterday was hilarious. Slaven looked grayer than usual at the end.
15 minutes... come on Leeds!!
Do you like Leeds away kit, Bob?
Tom really likes it
I agree with him
He admitted the same happened at OT last week
Fwank just looked like there was something missing in his full English.
Jack Harrison was one of the guests on Men in Blazer's last Monday. That may be of interest to Bob. It's on the last thirty minutes of the Wolves vs Citeh link on Peacock. A must watch for Leeds fans. Unusual journey for Jack Harrison
Robin Koch looking like a steadier influence today. The boss must have slipped him some beta blockers before kick-off.
It's hard to recognize Slaven with his glasses and earring. I thought Frankie looked more at a loss for words than Slaven, who has a long season ahead of him
Can't believe Chelsea refused to follow the No Draw Ban
I haven't see it but 606 said that the equalizer was a handball in the build up
Yeah - I do like this one; it's the traditional kit that we wore up to 1960 when Revie took over and wanted to emulate Real Madrid with the all-white kit.
I expect better from someone like Koch who plays for the German national team instead of playing like someone whose whole career has been in the Championship. He needs to stop playing like Koch!
Nice retro Leeds kit. It's a keeper for sure
Loved the Chelsea come-back yesterday; it kept one of my relegation favorites without a win for the season after three.
Dave, I was thinking about you when Chelsea came back. Had a feeling you wouldn't be pleased with that result, but good for Bob if I'm not mistaken
Oooh - that was a bit more dangerous than I liked.
Hard to evaluate the Baggies. They have played all top half teams. Once they play a few bottom half teams it will be easier to see where they fit in. I expect them to be like Villa of last season unless they continue leaking in goals to the point where a liscensed plumber is needed
We're missing the guile of Pablo Hernandez who is out with a groin strain.
Helder picks up a free kick chance now. Kal can swing one in to the big boys.
Despite that spell, of Evil Blades pressure all they could do was have a couple of low percentage shots blocked
Oh - Patrick got to that one but put his header over the bar.
Free kick from Kal Phillips headed over by Bamford.
The Evil Blades have not been good at defending set pieces since the start of the season, so Leeds needs to take adavnatage of these opportunities
I thought you would think that, Bob
Of course, I remember quite a long time ago my Worlington buddy, Bruno, wasn't happy that Bradford beat Chelsea for the same reason..... Ipswich had just been promoted but ended up fighting Chelsea for the top spots!
Could be the same this year!
Klich with a long range effort that's deflected up and into Ramsdale's arms.
A long range Leeds shot is Kliched off of Lundstram and easily gathered by Ramsdale
The Blades' free kick comes to nothing, just drifting through without a touch.
Wow....what a great save!!!!!
Oh - great save from Meslier!
OOOOOOF, what a let off. Great save.
I thought that was 1-0 Blades for sure. Wow!
That's why keepers shouldn't guess on penalties
He reacted to that shot....which was much closer than a spot kick!
Ayling had coughed up possession , Osborn went on a run down the left and Lundstram had a shot turned around with just Meslier to beat. The Evil Blades headed wide from the corner
Oh - another headed chance there for Patrick from Jack's cross. Just over the bar!
OH! Nice cross from Jack Harrison and headed inches over by Bamford . He should have tested Ramsdale
Leeds gifted a free kick . Chris Basham flopped over off a challenge from Klich. The ref said no and he's called for hand ball
Wasted free kick by Phillips..hit too hard
LOL! Basham has conceded a free kick for grabbing the ball when he thought he'd been fouled. Kal whips it in but too close to the by-line.
Free kick from Kal Phillips curled well wide
Ayling was beaten too easily there but Coop did really well to block.
The media complain about all these handball stuff but they are the first to stir up controversy by wanting an incident
Nice block by Ayling, but can't clear his lines then it ends up with McGoldrick just outside the box and his shot lands in Row T
Leeds need to be careful about being caught in possession just outside their box. It's happened several times, but they have got away with it
Oh - great one-two there with Dallas but his effort was saved by Ramsdale.
Decent effort from Dallas... well saved!
Seemed like commentator commented before it happened.
Ramsdale turns around a shot from Stu Dallas off a one two
Good effort. Saved.
Decent free kick from Kal but it was just behind Coop who put the header wide.
BORING BORING LEEDS!!
Where the hell are the FOURTEEN goals!
Mini Copper drives a header well wide off a corner from Kal Phillips
The graphic says the Evil Blades the only Prem team not to score a goal. I mentioned that almost 45 minutes ago
Another nice save by Messi.....can I call him that?
Oh - another great save from Meslier from Baldock's shot.
Osborn puts through Baldock and Meslier does well to tip over his shot
Too close. Another good save.
Wil VAR take a look...I don't think so
Amapdu falls over from the corner and wants a penalty. He's dreaming!
Blades wanted a pen there - but nothing doing from referee Tierney.
Bob will want the Evil Blades to be scoreless in their first three matches. He will love that
Dallas was lucky. It wasn't a pen, but he should defend without putting his hands on the guy's back in the area.
Ayling buys a cheap one there and we've got another free kick chance. Come on!
Leeds free kick off an Ayling challenge from Jack Robinson
Free kick from Kal Phillips headed on by Ayling and Leeds win a throw
Very lucky indeed - heart in mouth time.
Olly Burke leads an Evil Blades break, but his shot is well blocked
Burke broke there in the gap left by the marauding Ayling but was blocked out well by Koch.
Rangers 3 nil up at Motherwell inside 37 minutes
This derby is not as feisty as I thought it would be but really competitive
Into stoppage time. A minute of that
Agreed - I knew this one would be tighter than the first two. These sides know each other really well - there are no mysteries.
The half time whistle comes as the Blades are threatening. Time for me to towel off for more.
It's 0-0 at the end of a fairly even half
HT
I guess the 14 goals will all come in the second half !
United were completed outplayed yesterday
United but I think the timing was right for the last second pen
The Seagull goal was at 94.29
They hadn't kicked off for over a minute later
Handball was at 96.33
The pen at 99 means nothing... arguing, VAR check and then pen
I think something has to be done about the clock tho
These games are getting ridiculous
Rodrigo on as a sub for Tyler Roberts who had a quiet first half. Bob will be expecting better from Rodrigo as the second half is underway
Back with the official brekkies of the LOB for the start of the second half. Rodrigo has come on to replace Tyler Roberts. Nice change, boss!
Lees win a corner. Kal Phillips to take.
Early corner chance crushed by Helder - decent save by Ramsdale.
Headed away by McGoldrick then a great save from Ramsdale off a powerful shot from Helder Costa
Come on Leeds!!
On the replay, Jack's cross could easily have been given as a pen for us, based on the incidents from yesterday.
The commentator talks about approach play from the Evil Blades being easy on the eye. He has he been watching the same Evil Blades as us?
I'm having difficulty understanding the hand ball decisions. At Selhurst Park the penalty given looked less of a penalty than the one not given
Dale Stephens heads out for a Leeds corner
Stu Dallas's floated cross earns us another corner.
Wasted corner, sadly.
A wasted corner as goes out of play
Dangerous free kick for us swung in by Kal - nothing doing.
Good pressure from us now - by Ramsdale smothers a teasing ball in.
Nice Leeds possession that ends in a decent by Ramsdale from Klich. Nice back heel from Helder Costa
More great play from us there - Patrick did well to beat his man and get a shot off. Ramsdale scooped away.
Bamford straight at Ramsdale from, close range then tackled for a corner
Next weekend, Leeds visit Man City for the 12:30 NBC game
Four games into the season....3 away games will be off the docket....visits to the TOP TWO and your local rivals!
Ramsdale catches the corner in a crowd
That should be a cracking match and a test for Leeds .
Lundstram picks up a yellow card for hacking Dallas.
Lundstram booked for a foul from behind on Dallas
Good stuff from the Blades now - Meslier stopped Stevens' shot well.
Great save by Meslier from Dale Stephens off a long paper plate possession
Leeds will attack City at pace....they don't like that!
United beat them three times last season doing exactly that
Most teams don't want to attack City...too scared....wimps
This is the point at which our superior fitness level might kick in.
That's what I'm hoping, Dave - we've got absolutely nothing to lose. We should go after them.
Oh - Basham just about clears off the line after Dallas rounded the keeper!
oooooh.....big miss by Leeds!!! Get some oomph on the shot!
I thought the guy was going to knock it into his own net
OH! How did that not go in. Off the line by Chris Basham. Then wide by Ayling. Dallas unlucky not to score after rounding Ramsdale
That was a Goldstein style goal line clearance. I was known for those back in the day
Were you struggling for the 18 Down crossword clue?
Mancs United fit!!
LOL! No chance, mate. You're a more experienced crossword puzzler than that!
Well...if fit... so I used it!
Can't think of anything else that would fit!
Back from the bog to see that I missed a goal
Oh - great gut-busting run from Dallas and Rodrigo was nearly in there from the cross.
Ian Poveda on for Helder now for his Prem debut.
Poveda on for Helder Costa. Not sure Bob will be pleased about that change
No Nocito Curse in effect for you, David.
OOPS! The curse doesn't affect Yours Truly. Still 0-0
Yellow card for Baldock there for the hack on Stu Dallas.
I thought Helder was lively in the first half.
George Baldock booked for Kliching on the wrong link from behind
PUT IT A DECENT CROSS!!
Wide men just don't do it anymore!
All they do is cut it back....TO NO ONE!
Oh - Poveda made a great run there but couldn't find the pull-back.
Cooper does well to stop that drive from Ben Osborn. Leeds break. Now Ampadu down
Damn.... Leeds take a shot...saved by a head...ref blows up with Leeds still on the attack!
They're going to get the ball back....but probably back at their keeper
I've never seen that before - we were attacking and the referee blew up because the Sheffield player took one in the face. Is that in the rulebook?
I knew he's be okay
Ampudu is back up, of course. And we've got the ball back but back at Meslier. How is that fair?
Play resumes as Ampadu looks more than a little winded
If a player has any sort of injury the ref is supposed to stop play. I think the ref followed the current rules correctly.
Bloody hell - our old chum Billy Sharp about to make his entrance.
Oh - I thought Patrick was going to get to that cross!
Nice run and cross from Jack Harrison, but just too high for Bamford
Rodrigo with a shot on the turn but it's tame.
I'd love to see Rodrigo get one in off the bum just to get him off the mark.
Last season Billy Sharp's only Prem goals were scored against Ramsdale. He can only do that this season if he scores OGS
It glanced of his head so concussion protocols are used. Shame, Sheffield should have passed it out for a throw.
So - all change for the Blades - both strikers off and Sharp and McBurnie on. Grrr!
Billy Sharp for Olly Burke and McBurnie for McGoldrick. One like for like and one a striker for a winger as Chris Wilder appears to be going for it
All the white guys for Sheffield look alike. Butched hair, tats, no neck.
Good break there through Poveda but his shot in on the jink was blocked out by Stevens.
Bob, what the Leeds guy's name that was a young player that went off to Spurs and then went on loan?
Where is he now?
Yeah, Steve - they've all clearly done some borstal time.
Billy Sharp in typical fashion throwing a tantrum.
Ben Osborn wins a corner off of Ayling
That's young Jack Clarke. I'd have to look but I think he's still on the Spurs books but never plays. Shame - he was a great Academy product.
Leeds break....could have made more of it
Oh - great break again through Poveda and the youngster made Ramsdale work.
Corner now.
Head tennis off the corner then Leeds break. Then a long range effort from Poveda blocked by Ramsdale
That's right... he was really good
Then Ramsdale turns around a shot from Bamford
Didn't he come back to ER on loan but never played
Wonder if Leeds would be interested in Jack Clarke in this transfer window
The boss hasn't been spending much time on the bucket today - a lot of pacing. I'm surprised that he hasn't gone to Gianni Alioski yet - he's always good for a late goal.
Great description, Steve. Really hilarious.
Leeds's Ali in better shape than the one at the Spuds
Oh - Baldock bursts through and his shot is deflected out for a corner.
George Baldock with a shot deflected wide for a corner
Oh - I thought that was going in. Robinson put it wide!
