It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like the Premier League
A very good Saturday morning, everyone! It's footer time. We've got a cornucopia on board today - and it's all on the regular telly stations, with nary a Peacock in site. It all starts with an Everton site that has faltered of late traveling to play relegation-threatened Burnley. I'm hoping that the Toffees hit them for six. Same again for Citeh who host hapless Fulham at 10am on the channel. The lunch-time kick off is an intriguing on with West Ham hosting Man Utd. That's all the undercard for the big one for me - my beloved Leeds taking on our old enemy Chelsea and Frankie Lamps at 3pm. What a day! Join me for the lot, eh?

Everton’s seven-game winning sequence at the start of the season seems a long time ago now. Since then, they’ve played six matches, all in the Premier League, losing four, drawing one and winning another, and they made hard work of that against struggling Fulham. On the face of it, a visit to second-from-bottom Burnley looks an ideal opportunity to regain some of that lost momentum.
The team news out of Turf Moor this morning:
Burnley: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Brady, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil, Wood, Rodriguez.
Subs: Barnes, Peacock-Farrell, Pieters, Vydra, Long, Dunne, Benson.
Everton: Pickford, Godfrey, Mina, Keane, Iwobi, Doucoure, Allan, Delph, Rodriguez, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison.
Subs: Holgate, Sigurdsson, Tosun, Bernard, Andre Gomes, Davies, Lossl.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire).
We're all set for the kick-off now at Turf Moor, then. The Toffees in their change yellow and blue kit.
Morning Bob
I was going to sit out the first two matches but I am up at the TV and computer and have joined you
Of course, I am excited for the last two matches
ONE NIL BURNLEY
Nice hit
Of course... all made by modern day passing the ball out of the back!1
Good morning, Bob and Dave
GOAL! BURNLEY TAKES THE LEAD VS THE TOFFEES
Bloody hell! Brady has rocketed one in from 30 yards to open the scoring for Burnley. Pickers had no chance!
1-0 Burnley!
Morning, boys - I'm glad you arrived in time to see that one - a great drive from Brady!
Nice long range finish from Robbie Brady. Toffees were faffing about at the back
Come on, you Toffees - get it back!
Burnley out of the drop zone and replaced by the in form Cottagers who play in the next match at the Etihad
Burnley playing a high line and really pressing Everton - they'll need to mix it up and play some long balls to the front men to stretch the back four.
I will have to watch United on NBC Sports site because Dish did away with NBC
I need Rodriguez to get some goals!!
I don't like it at all, David - the bottom four are starting to pick up some wins here and there. I'd prefer that they get cut adrift.
Nice and sunny in NW England while it's raining here
Agreed, Bob. Leeds needs to continue winning even thought hey have a tough one at SB today
OH! Great close range block by Nick Pope from DCL
That did happen with the Dish? That is so pathetic!
I have firmly believed that Nick Pope should start for England instead of Pickford. Both are opposition keepers today and perhaps this match will reinforce that
I don't know why these companies have started ditching the networks. That should be basic.
Did they take away all the NBC channels?
The match is on Universo too Dish Ch 838
Agreed, Dave. I forgot and turned on NBC and was glad to see some man representing Dish stating that they collect a lot of money from Peacock and why do they need to hold DISH hostage by raising their rates. He called them greedy. Sound familiar although he's representing Dish?
Ah - that was a chance. Richarlison was away there but chose to shoot from an acute angle rather than squaring to DCL.
I hate watching things on line because nothing is live!
With all of updates people get from on their phone....you have hide your damn phone!
No they only did away with the local NBC. I'm watching this match on the telly. It's actually the networks ditching the companies because they want to double their rates with the satellite providers
Agreed, Dave. As you stated last week, there's no excuse because there's no reason why the matches online shouldn't be live
Do you have Universo? Is it for the Spanish speaking viewers?
James Rodriguez looked so good at the beginning of the season but he's gone right off the boil.
NBC delay on the TV too
I guess they do it so they can censor the language
Oh - Brownhill had a chance there to put Burnley 2-0 up - he raked it wide, fortunately.
That pass there by Rodriguez is just stupid
He played a one two.... when the ball came to him... he should have turned and taken the space in front of him
More problems for Everton - Fab Delph has done his hammy. He'll need to come off.
Delph is done
Hammy time
Thanks Dave. I think I do have Universo and will try it out . Thanks for the tip
Must have been his Leeds academy days that gave him a weak hammy
Andre Gomez to come on for Fab Delph now.
Horrible for the former LUFC Academy player. Sorry to see that
Andre Gomez Addams to come on for him
I never had a hammy injury. The closest I came to that feeling his having cramps while sitting on the bus coming home from matches
I don't know why players don't warm up properly. There's no reason for hammy injuries.
LOL! Probably true, Dave
That was better from the Toffees but I would have liked to see DCL hit that shot first time.
DCL played thru... I think he should have done better
I don't think I ever had a hammy injury either - it was the knees that did me in.
I don't if you all knew , but at a local high school American football game a player was arrested. He was sent off by the ref and had to be escorted off by the ref. He then snuck on to the field and punched the ref , who was unconscious for three minutes. Was arrested the next day but let out on a $10,000 bond.
If you google Edinburg High School there are lots of links with the story. He sounded like someone who was going to get a scholarship and just threw away his career
He just said it was a great break....was it!
I saw that on the Daily Mail website.... didn't he just run and bowl him over!
Craziness
What's scary is that if I wasn't teaching at a magnet school I probably would have been teaching students like him. His school was kicked out of the playoffs and he threw away any chances of earning scholarships. Who is going to want him?
Solo run by Rich Arlison and shot not too far wide
They keep talking about how Richarlison is weaker on his left side. Then why is he playing on the left? I don't get it.
Elizabeth and I saw it on GMA yesterday morning. The 59 year old ref was unconscious for three minutes. I hope he gets a prison sentence
Agreed, Bob. I always thought of him as being left footed
Totally agree.... bloody cutting back inside!!
Nice kick save by Pickford from Chris wood off a nice through ball
Oh - great save by Pickers at the feet of Chris Wood. That will do his confidence a lot of good.
30 years ago today... my mom, aunt, sisters Debbie and Lisa, brother-in-law, niece and nephew all arrived for my wedding
Brothers Tony and Mike came two days later
There was not one bad minute the whole time they were here!
THIRTY YEARS!!
The Reading Railroad one up vs ten man Forest. The Railroaders now second behind the Cherries on goal difference
That is a crazy story, David - never would have happened in our day. The world has gone nuts.
Great memories . Is your anniversary on the fifteenth
Agreed, Bob. It's a sad indictment of our society
Cherries went top yesterday thanks to a 0-4 win at Barnsley. Forest three points above the drop zone
Brownhill down for Burnley as we enter stoppage time. VAR checking in case an illegal elbow happened. Nothing doing as we are into an LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minuets
It is David....thirty years!!!! Bob made it to the wedding!
Remember the snow during and after the ceremony mate?
David, how many will it be for you?
30 years....it's been a doddle
GOAL !!! DCL TIES IT UP FOR THE TOFFEES
Yes! That was more like it. Richarlison feeding DCL for his 11th goal - good stuff!
GOAL... Rcharlson crosses and DLC there to tap it in!
Richie can cross with his left.... do it more often!!!
Allan won the ball off of Westwood. He passed wide left to Rich Arlison and his pass was well placed by DCL
Great memories of that event, Dave!
Half time at Turf Moor
I don't think Bob needs to worry about teams below Leeds
Our 27th anniversary was on the 20th of November
Great time for Everton to score - barely time to kick-off before half-time.
1-1 at the interval.
Burnley now second from bottom behind the Baggies on goal difference and a point behind the Cottagers, Toffees now up to seventh place
Congrats David!
Bob, how long is it?.... for you two.... please answer with the correct line!
LOL. Kate will be upset if he doesn't remember. We were there in Richmond
The second half is underway from Turf Moor
Back for the second half with a second cuppa. Let's have some more goals, Toffees!
Well...he better get the right number but I was talking about him finishing the quote correctly
Kate and I celebrated our 5th anniversary on June 20th last summer. Remember all of that torrential rain that night? Cor!
Not sure I'm getting the reference, though, Dave - something from Only Fools and Horses, is it?
ROBERT.... I am disgusted!!
How long was it?
How long IS it
Nice shot by Rodriguez... I needed that to go in!
Oh - James with a nice bender. Nick Pope was equal to it and tipped it around.
Nick Pope does well to turn around a long range shot from Hummus Rodriguez off nice one touch Toffees passing
Gareth Southgate watching. presumably watching the two keepers and DCL. Should be finally realizing that Pope should be the starting keeper
In contrast crazy keeping from Pickford . Not exactly sure what he was doing or thinking as he crazily rushed outside his box
Then Burnley wins a corner
ROBERT!!!
How long is it?
Then Pickford lets a corner go through his hands, but according to the ref he was somehow fouled
Sorry, Dave - I don't know the reference.
Oh - that deflection off Brownhill could have gone anywhere!
Struth!
Not OFAH.... I know you're not an expert on Only Foots....but you used to be an expert on Python!!
We listened to this sketch all the time
How are you feeling captain?
Everton must score one of these chances.
Is that the one with the guys on the lifeboat debating whether they're going to eat each other? I don't remember that line, sorry. Very disappointing.
Nice dribble and move... and can't cross the damn ball
DRIVES ME NUTS
A draw suits Leeds because they're still the same distance from the drop zone. Bob needs the Cottagers to lose at Citeh and for the Baggies to lose at Palace
Reading Railroad two up vs Forest
Yeah - that would be fine.
In L1 Gils one up vs Swindon at the half and in L2 Sunny one up vs the Orient Express, who will be in playoff spot if they can come from behind
YES!!! Thank you for at least getting the sketch!
How long is it?
THAT'S A RATHER PERSONAL QUESTION SIR!!
No... I mean how long have we been in the lifeboat! We'll have to start again. You've ruined the atmosphere !
How long is it? 33 days
I dont think I ruined the atmosphere
Of course you did
The late match will be a reunion of the spygate incident
I'd rather eat Hodges sir
I don't know you don't all stop bickering and eat me!
Look at that arm
Plenty of meat!
Looks like a problem for Chris Wood now. He's down in a heap.
I'll stop
LOL, Dave. A hilarious sketch
Yeah - I do remember that line now. Boy, it's been a while.
Doesn't look good for Chris wood at all.
He's up and able to continue
Wood went to Leicester?
When was he at Leeds? Did he leave ER for Burnley or somewhere else first
We got him off Leicester. And Burnley stole him off us, along with Charlie Taylor, Sam Byram and loads of others. One of the many reasons that I hate them.
I know he's been with Leeds, the Foxes ,and the Evil Lions. I think he went from Leeds to Burnley
I thought Sam Byram went to the Hammers, who have almost an identical kit. Then he flew off to the Canaries
They did steal BPF which was more like shopping off the clearance rack
Yeah - I think you're right, now that I think of it. Burnley stole at least one more of our players, though, I'm almost sure of it.
Yeah - that's right. Bailey. But one more outfield player. They also got Sam Vokes, but he was only ever a loanee for us.
Sad times when Burnley was a move up from Leeds!
Free kick chance for Burnley - these are dangerous for them. Cleared out for a corner.
Ashley Barnes on for J Rod which will add a more physical presence for Burnley
Agreed. Thankfully normality has pretty much been restored
Pass from Ashley Barnes cleared for a corner. The Toffee counter off that corner
Long range curler from Andre Gomes Addams well over
Like for like as Siggy on for Doucorre
After the match it will be time to take Sparky for walkies in the rain
Long Burnley free kick headed on then headed out by Allan for a Burnely corner
Another great save by Pickers - he must know that Southgate is watching today.
OH!Header from Chris Wood off the corner clawed away by pickford
I don't think this is one of the matches with fans today. Some stadiums will be allowed up to 2,000 fans
Burnley academy grad, Benson about t come on as Robbie Brady is down
Of course, Burnley did win two championships
They were top of the land in 1960
During my walks, I take up time naming League and Cup winners since WW2
I've got it all sussed.... but I struggle with the most recent years!! CRAZY
Josh Benson on for Robbie Brady
Me too. It's easier to remember the past
Ancelotti going for the win as he's about bring on Turkish striker, Tosun
The final roll of the dice from Ancelotti and an attacking one as Tosun on for Allan. A striker for a water carrier
Come on, you Toffees!
Great defensive header from Michael Keane off the Burnely corner as he clashed heads with Tark
Great save by Pope... Siggy sent in by Rodriguez...kick save and a beaut
Oh - that was a rubbish cross from Iwobi - straight out of play. Really poor.
A Barber Shop quartet of stoppage time minutes as Nick Pope makes a kick save from Siggy. Should have been a Toffees winner
He still should have scored from that spot!
Both keepers have been excellent today - what a difficult decision for Gareth.
USELESS effort from McNeil!!
Embarrassing effort!
Oh - what a bad miss from O'Neil. This is destined for a draw.
Gareth should go with the Pope
It finishes as a 1-1 draw. Toffees now in 7th place and Burnley second from bottom , behind the Baggies on goal difference and a point behind the Cottagers
This one ends in a draw
If United can win today they could overtake City(who will overtake United before we kick off), Wolves, Everton, Southampton, West Ham and Leicester. United could go from 9th to 4th!!
If we beat the Hammers by THIRTEEN... we would be in third!
Of course, who knows what United team will play today!
That's it, then. David's right, a draw isn't a terrible result for us. Burnley are still 19th on 6 points from 10 matches now. Everton stay in 7th on 17 points from 11 matches. Surely some others will leapfrog throughout the weekend.
Listening to 5Live right now and they are starting to be like CBS... too much trying to be funny!!!
At least NBC don't do that crap... with Micah and Jammie
This next match... such a bore!
City to win by a bundle!!
Reading beat Forest this morning
What has happened to the two time European Champs?
City with two easy back to back home matches!
Burnley and Fulham at home!
Of course....United would struggle!!
I will have my phone on to 5Live during this match for all the updates from the lower divisions
Of course, I will hear the goals at the Etihad before I see them
Next up - I'm looking forward to seeing Man Citeh hammer the Cottagers. I know that you won't like that - but I'm Leeds all the way.
What side will Ollie put out
Huge game but another one on Tuesday!
United can't really win the group any more! PGS's late goal gives them a lead in head to head 1-2 and 1-3. United are onto now because it is 3 team tie!
A point would qualify us but PSG won't tie to the Turks
A tie would make us finish in second with a PSG win
A win would mean we are equal with PSG and lose the tie breaker
No one is talking about that late goal being so crucial
I am well into the White corner today... or whatever color they decide to play in today!
I still think Moyes could have been a success at Old Trafford
He made a big mistake of coming in and doing things his way!
He should have come in and say.... you all know how to win. You help me
I know you guys don't agree with me but I hate the new in phrase.... "working thru the thirds"
The team news out of Maine Road this afternoon:
Manchester City (4-2-3-1) Ederson; Cancelo, Dias, Stones, Mendy; Rodri, Gundogan; Mahrez, De Bruyne, Sterling; Jesus.
Substitutes: Steffen, Laporte, Garcia, Silva, Fernandinho, Foden, Torres.
Fulham (4-2-3-1) Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Robinson; Anguissa, Reed; De Cordova-Reid, Loftus-Cheek, Lookman; Cavaleiro.
Substitutes: Rodak, Ream, Bryan, Cairney, Lemina, Mitrovic, Kamara.
Back from walkies and feeding the pets on a damp, rainy morning
Why doesn't Foden get more playing time?
I'll be going on walkies soon... I think the drizzle has stopped here
Ready for Citeh vs the Cottagers, which should be an easy Citeh win to the delight of Bob.
Bloody Hell... Fulham can't wear white while playing blue!
Fulham have Liverpool up next
The Cottagers haven't scored vs Citeh in Seven years, but have been in the Championship a good part of that time
5Live is ahead of NBC... of course
They're off from the Etihad. No fans here either.
These teams met in the Third Round of the Cup last season and Citeh won 4-0
We're away - I want goals early and often.
Millwall fans boo the kneeling at the Den
Swans take the lead vs Luton
Nice tackling by the Cottagers and nice run down the left by Cavalero, but tackled for a goal kick
Oh - Raheem should have made it 1-0!
Sterling with an early chance.... saved
He misses so many chances!! I don't think he is anywhere near World Class
Close range block by Arriola from Sterling off a through ball from Mahrez
Fulham are just going to sit back... you just can't do that!!
Horrible by the Evil Lions fans . Hard to believe the East end of London has a lower cases of COVID than other places
One nil
Sterling does finish this one
GOAL !!! STERLING GIVES CITEH THE LEAD THIS TIME
Wahay! Raheem gets it right at the second opportunity!
1-0 Citeh!
The goal came off the possession following the Sterling miss.A bout of head tenni9s off the goal kick from Arriola then hand ball from Anguissa, but the advantage was played as KDB put through Sterling for a good finish
Lookman has a shot come off of Ruben Dias and land on top of the net for a corner
Corner from Harrison Reed headed sideways by Adarabayo. Now Citeh back in the Cottagers half
Terriers one up vs QPR as is Coventry ve Rotherham in a match of newly promoted teams
Swans now third a point behind the Cherries and the Reading Railroad
Oxford Shoes kick their way to the lead vs L1 Leaders, the Tigers
Port Vale two up at Bolton
Fawlty Towers in the lead vs Wrexham as Basel is top of the National League looking to return to the Football League for the first time in nearly a decade
Good save from Areola from KDB.
Coventry two up vs Rotherham
Argyle Sweater in the lead vs the Tractor Boys
L2 leaders , Newport on top vs Morecambe and None Too Wise while Cheltenham now up to second as they lead third place Exeter 2-1
Citeh well in charge of this one and I'm happy to see Fulham back down to 7 points.
PNE takes the lead vs Wycombe
Tangerines take the lead at Highbury in the Fylde Derby
Wigan in the lead at the Black Cats. Wigan still bottom. Black Cats down to eighth place
