Another Critical Saturday
Morning, guys - I'm still heartsick over the events of the last week at my beloved Leeds United. But I'm here to roar on the boys as they kick off the Jesse Marsch era. We're away at Leicester today in yet another challenging fixture with an understrength side. A draw would be welcome.
That's just the start of a day dominated by matches involving teams in the bottom seven, including Burnley v. Chelsea on USA.
The late one is a top of the table clash between West Ham and Liverpool. Join me for all of the action, won't you?

Morning, boys - I'm not really looking forward to watching this one. It feel more like a duty than an entertainment. But here I am, ready to roar on the boys.
The teams news out of Filbert Street:
Leicester City: Schmeichel, Choudhury, Amartey, Soyuncu, Thomas, Tielemans, Ndidi, Dewsbury-Hall, Albrighton, Vardy, Barnes.
Subs: Ward, Iheanacho, Perez, Vestergaard, Mendy, Daka, Lookman, Soumare, Brunt.
Leeds United: Meslier, Ayling, Koch, Struijk, Firpo, Klich, Raphinha, Dallas, Rodrigo, Harrison, James.
Subs: Forshaw, Bamford, Roberts, Klaesson, Gelhardt, Cresswell, Summerville, Greenwood, Shackleton.
Referee: David Coote (Nottinghamshire).
Some interesting changes by Marsch. Jesse Marsch’s first selection includes Rodrigo and Mateusz Klich, Adam Forshaw drops to the bench, while Diego Llorente is missing altogether. Most important - Lord Bamford is back after a lengthy spell out injured, and is named as a sub.
Best of Luck Bob....I'm off to the dentist
MOT
Teams out on the pitch now - come on!
Good luck with the choppers, mate - I'll catch up later.
Nice moment of support for Ukraine now as we get prepared for this one.
And with that, we're ready to kick off the Jesse Marsch era at Leeds. Come on!
The Foxes get us started here at Filbert Street.
Looks like the 4-2-2-2 formation that Marsch has been none to employ.
Oh - Dan James nearly in there for an opener. That would have been a vital strike. But he misses from an acute angle.
Marcelo Bielsa's name being given the Seven Nation Army treatment now by the traveling Leeds fans.
Koch has a pop from distance - well wide of the mark. But good to see that we're still playing at a good clip.
Jack wins us another corner - lively start from us. The boys will want to impress the new gaffer.
Oh - Luke had a chance there from the corner. Put it over the top under pressure.
Good Morning, Bob . Just woke up and am here to join you for the start of the Jesse Marsch era
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
It's not surprising to see the Foxes dropping deep here - it's the way that they like to play, on the back foot. But they're more than capable of punking us on the break.
Morning, David - thanks for joining me. How's your week been?
Meslier was right around the corner from Bob's office as her was nearly caught in possession at Dewsbury-Hall, but got way with it
Oh - we broke well there and Jack pulled a good save out of Kasper.
On the break, Pascal brings down Jamie Vardy and gets a yellow.
Nice counter from Leeds as Dan James one ton a 60 yard run but played it too wide and Jack Harrison forced a kick save from Kasper
Then Struijch booked for bringing down Vardy . Fast start to the match
You're welcome. Glad to join you. It's been a great week and we've been taking advantage of the unusually warm weather before ti ends on Tuesday. How have you been?
Very productive week for me here. I polished off a couple of conference proposals for a conference in Philly later in the year.
I suppose the good news is that we haven't conceded in the first 15 minutes. A long way to go, though.
WOW ! Congratulations. When is the conference up in Philly? Excited for you.
Not a lot from Raph yet; I'm interested to see how he fits into this new system.
So far it looks like Marsch has Leeds playing fairly close to the Bielsa way than the Ralf way
First chance for Raph to stretch his legs but he's held up and then chips harmlessly into Kasper's arms. We need better from him today.
Nice run from Raph then a pass blocked then a poor cross gathered by Kasper. At least he had some touches
We weather another dangerous Leicester break through Vardy - phew!
The big match in the Championship is at your place. I'm sure that's keeping Kate busy as it's the table topping Cottagers vs Balckburn
The Foxes have looked dangerous at times. A Leeds goal would really help.
Good block from Koch on Harvey Barnes, who has looked the Foxes best player so far.
Raph lost put at Dewsbury-Hall, across the way from Bob's office.
Is Dewsbury-Hall the name off the athletics building on the Fredtown campus?
Kate is busy snoozing at the moment, with not a thought as to what's going on at Craven Cottage. LOL!
Another promising break there but Rodrigo's ball was too heavy for Jack. When the ball came back to him, he blasted over. Boy, do we need Lord Bamford.
Jesse Marsch's name now ringing around the ground. And Bielsa as well.
Halfway through the first half and I'm reasonably pleased with the way that we've started this one. But Leicester do have weapons.
Dallas blocks a cross from Dewsbury-Hall and Leicester have another corner. Mark 'em up!
Dewsbury-Hall wins a cover off of Stu Dallas
It's 0-0 at your place as well
Oh - great ball across the area by Jack but no one was following in.
Kate may be sleeping but she gave the Cottagers the lead vs Blackburn.
Who do you see going up from the Championship at this point?
Stu Dallas fouls Harvey Barnes and Leicester can swing a free kick in. Mark 'em up!
Cottagers now top ahead of second place Terriers who have played two games more and defeated bottom club Posh 3-0 yesterday. Third place Cherries a dozen points behind with three games in hand and playing at Deepdale at 10 AM
Somehow we're able to hack that one away. Not convincing defending.
It's definitely the Cottagers going up and probably the Cherries who are a pointy out of second place but with three games in hand. So I will go with the Cottagers and Cherries. Not sure who will win the playoffs
I guess Leeds can consider this progress as they have kept a clean sheet and haven't changed that much from the way they played under Bielsa. Do you agree?
I absolutely, agree - we do look tighter at the back and have created some chances. But then Leicester aren't as good as the sides we played last week. We'll never know how Bielsa's side would have fared in these matches to come.
Yesterday in the Championship Terriers and Forest were in action since they face each other in the Cup on Monday. The winner hosts Pool in the quarters
The welcome sight of Lord Bamford stretching down by the corner flag. Boy, have we missed him this season!
That's a good point, but I hate to say that I don't know if Biel;lsa's side would have been this defensively solid. You never know though
Choudhury concedes a corner now - come on, you Leeds!
Rodrigo went down under Soyuncu's challenge there. VAR having a look.
Sadly, we play on - we could have used a cheap one there.
Oh - great chance there! Jack got the ball over and when it came out Firpo hit it with venom. Cleared out for a corner.
More chances there from the corner but Leicester scramble it away.
Terriers moved up to second defeating bottom club Posh 3-0. Cherries a pint behind with FIVE matches in hand . Surely the Terriers will be playoff bound. Forest drew 1-1- at Bramall Lane in a playoff six pointer thanks to an equalizer in the fifth minute of stoppage time.Evil Blades sixth above the Hastters on goals difference while Forest is eighth just two points outside the playoffs. Hatters have a big match at the Riverside. Hatters will be sixth with a win or draw while the Teesiders will occupy the last playoff spot with a win. Sound like a big match
If we can just keep it tight now until half-time, we can build on this first half performance.
Cottagers two up vs Blackburn . Sound like Blackburn is sleeping more than Kate is
Stu Dallas concedes a corner - mark 'em up!
I have a feeling there wasn't enough ion it from Soyuncu to get a penalty. I always felt a penalty was a long shot at best
Oh - dangerous moment as Ndidi had a free header. Meslier was able to collect at the second time of asking.
Bob is pleased, Ndidi that the Foxes didn't take the lead off a corner with a free header that went straight to Meslier. Leeds needs to mark em up off of corners
Now then - Jack wins a another corner. This one needs to count!
Bob you must be pleased, Ndidi, about not conceding off the corner. A minute of stoppage time as Leeds have a corner
Oh - Rodrigo had a chance on the volley there and should have hit the target. Difficult skill.
Rodrigo volleys halfway to Bramall Lane off the corner
It's 0-0 at the half and Bob, you must be satisfied
Well, it's been a good start for Jesse's Marsch's side. We've been the better side and should really be in the lead. But this gives us something to build on. 0-0 at the interval.
Leeds get us underway in the second half.
Raph straight into the action in the second half.
Choudhury gives up another corner. Come on!
We still haven't got the free kicks going. That's something for Marsch to work on.
Firpo caught Albrighton there and he's not happy about it.
Groans coming up from the Leicester support who have been pretty quiet.
"We all love Leeds" coming up from the away support.
The Foxes haven't really got going yet and I hope they don't.
I'm wondering if Marsch will risk Lord Bamford in an effort to win this one.
Ndidi picks up a yellow for a rash one on Dan James.
Poor free kick there. A lot of fuss but the ball didn't beat the first man.
Back for the second half after a trip to the bog to see it's still 0-0 at the KP
Leicester fans starting to get really frustrated.
Oh - great shot there from Dan James but it ricochets off Raph and out.
OH! Shot from Dan James goes off Raph and just wide after Stu dallas did well to head down a pass off a nice long ball
Oh - nice move there through Raph, but it's blocked out.
Hi Boys
I am back from the dentist
IT'S LEEDS TIME
Oh - Rodrigo with a nice header from the corner. We're definitely knocking at the door!
Leeds remain 16th , but now three points clear of the drop zone pending Burnley vs Chelsea at 10 AM and Spuds vs Toffees on Monday. Can you Conte on much needed favors from Antonio's current and former club?
Welcome back, Dave. Hope you had a successful trip to the dentist as you sink your teeth into some football matches today
Welcome back, Dave - cheers!
Had my bridge put on... no troubs
The biog match at the bottom today is Canaries vs Bees. I guess a draw or Canaries win would be best for Bob
Oh - how did that not go in!
STRUTH....HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN!!
Good to hear it, mate!
OH! Nice close range kick save from Kasper. Keep it up Leeds!
Raph needed to bury that one - shouldn't have given Kasper a chance.
Nice Brazi footie as Junior Firpo passed to Raph for that close range block
Leeds well on top!!
Oh - Raph with another great move to the by-line. It came back to him but his blast went well wide.
Great move by Raph...useless cross...decent shot
Double change from the Bridge and an expected expected change as the Foxes now have an extra striker. Like for like as Ihenacho is on for Vardy and an striker for a defender as Lookman is on for Choudry
Wahay! Joffy to come on for the last half hour. Leeds fans are going to love that. He's the sort of player who gets on the end of things.
Glad your bridge went well. Hopefully your return here will be enough to provide us with some much needed Leeds goals
Nice - Rodrigo comes off; he's been wasteful today.
Bielsa was unlucky with his run of games. Fired after conceding 4 to United, 6 to Pool and 4 to Spurs
I think he could have stayed on for the a good stretch of games
Agreed, Bob. Joffy will be a great addition to the lineup and coming on at probably 0-0. Perfect timing from Jesse Marsch
Joffy on for Rodrigo . A great change from, Jesse Marsch
Oh - Joffy right into the action and wins a corner!
Come on Leeds....this is domination!!
Joffy with a shot blocked fo0r a corner off a pass from Raph
VAR check for a handball - we could really use this one.
Is that a pen?
Nothing given...they are not Liverpool or City
Leicester scare me every time they break forward.
Var checking for hand ball on Albrighton . Nothing doing as the Foxes counters off the corner. Thankfully. Leeds tracked back in time to stop the counter
Dave, agreed about the sacking of Bielsa. I think Leeds would have won the matches they need to if he had stayed on
Phew! Albrighton beat Firpo there but then chipped into Meslier's arms.
Why are there four games on Thursday this week?
Keeping away from CL?
Bloody hell!!
TOTALLY UNDESERVED!!
Bugger! And just like that, Harvey Barnes puts us behind. He was always the danger.
BUGGER! HARVEY BARNES GIOVES THE FOXES THE LEAD WITH A NICE FINISH. SORRY, BOB
That is so unfair!
still time!
One thing I like about Marsch....he says Premier correct
Come on, boys - get it back!
That was the Foxes first attempt this half and against the run of play. Started with a throw from Kasper and about ten passes later Barnes played a one two with Ihrnacho before placing the shot in the corner
Marsch may have to go with Lord Bamford. I hope he's ready and doesn't crock himself again.
Adam Forshaw Kliched on to the pitch. Don't like that ones it seems a defensive change with Leeds down a goal
Lord Bamford and Tyler Roberts warming up . What will be Jesse march's final roll of the dice?
Forshaw picks up a yellow card only minutes after having come on.
Forshaw booked for pushing down Dewsbury-Hall
Well, he's only got one more sub to go, having already brought on Joffy and Forshaw.
I just noticed about the fore Prem games bing played on Thursday. I saw that too. It must be for television Purposes as Dave stated. The suits at UEFA would be furious if the CL lost viewer ratings.
Firpo concedes another corner - mark 'em up!
Dewsbury-Hall wins a corner off of Junior Firpo
Hard to believe this fixture was a L1 fixture for one season
The 10 AMmatch on USA will be Burnley vs Chelsea. Bob will be rooting for Chelsea. The big match at that end of the table will be the Canaries vs the Bees. I guess a draw or Canaries win would be best for Bob
Harrison off for Roberts
Why not Bamford
No Lord Bamford today as the final roll of the dice from Jersse March is a much needed attacking one as Tyler Roberts is on for Jack Harrison
Like for like from the Bridge as Mendy on for his first appearance of the season for Ndidi
Leeds host Villa
Norwich host Chelsea
Wolves host Watford
Soton host Newcastle
Sunday is a busy day net weekend
Marsch must be saving Lord Bamford for Villa on Thursday.
Leeds currently a pair of points above the drop zone.
COEM ON LEEDS! TIE IT UP
Agreed, Dave. That is a busy Sunday. First day of DST?
Tyler is down - hopefully, he'll be able to continue.
Tyler Roberts still down. Id f he goes off injured, Leeds would be a man down the rest of the match as that is not due to a concussion
A blueberry scone has arrived at my shoulder. Lovely!
I'm guessing Jesse Marsch must be thinking that this in jury is why he didn't bring on Bamford. Bob's reason is a good one too, I would have risked him being a goal down
That sounds like l a lovely brekkies, Bob
Tyler has come off for more treatment and we're temporarily down to ten men.
Tyler is limping back on now.
Firpo wins us a corner. Come on, now - we need this one!
Some big matches coming up for Leeds ahead of the international break. Matches against Villa, Canaries , and wolves
Oh - Koch nearly got in there for a touch.
Not a recipe for success as the corner from Raph was headed wide by Robin Koch. Not Koched to perfection
Bob was not Koch a Hoop about that header
We need six points from those matches.
Not exactly, David. No.
Big match tomorrow is the Man Derby. The other match is a derby of sorts as the Hornets host the Gunners
Robin Koch is playing at center forward now!
That's what I'm thinking , Bob. Six points would be great
Koch as a striker is an un usual recipe cooked up by Jesse Marsch, but understandable considering the circumstances
Less than five minutes to rescue this one.
Leeds are so unlucky not to be winning let alone losing
Thankfully Lookman took too long to shoot then found Harvey Barnes whose shot was deflected straight to Meslier
The anti-Bielsa bias of these commentators is stunning. Why do they consider this "turning the corner?" We're losing!
Leeds last lost five matches in a row in 2015 in the Championship. We don't want that streak matched today
Harvey Barnes struijchs his way to a corner off of Pascal
Tielemans tries to seal it but Meslier clutches it.
It has been a good performance, so that's progress, but far too harsh on Bielsa A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time minutes
Three minutes of stoppage time left to dig this one out. Come on!
Kasper just broke Mark Wallington's record for most first team appearances by a Foxes keeper. That's quite an accomplishment
Joffy with a shot deflected for a corner
Joffy wins us a late, late corner. This one has to go in!
I guess Leeds can look at the fact that they gave a mid table side all they could handle on the road. Leeds do need points ASAP though
Sorry mate.... this team is good...they will get the points needed!
It's over and the Foxes undeservedly win 1-0. Sorry, Bob. It was a good Leeds performance
Next his Burnley vs Chelsea on USA and the big on the Koch iOS the Canaries vs the Bees. Those are the two I will be watching
Well, that's a fifth loss on the trot for the boys. It all looked very promising for an hour, but it wasn't to be. We looked tighter at the back but still conceded. 23 points now from 27 matches. 17 points left to get from the last 11 matches now.
Jesse Marsch has asked the team to have a bit of a huddle at the end of the match now. Interesting.
Unusual post match talk at the center circle with the team huddled in a circle. New managerial style for LUFC
The players don't look as if they're paying too much attention to Jesse. Hopefully I'm wrong about that
Nice to see the traveling Leeds fans applauding the players efforts . Well deserved despite the result
We don't want Brentford to beat Norwich
David already said a draw is best there...even a Norwich win
The table topping Cottagers have defeated fourth placed Blackburn 2-0 with both goals scored in the first half. The big 10 AM match in the Championship will be the Teesiders vs the Hatters
Great minds think alike as stated by the two Daves
Wow...Ericksen starting for Brentford at Carrow Road....the ref....Anthony Taylor...he was in charge in match in the Euros when he collapsed
The cock and Bull speech from Roman is perhaps too lenient on him. The real reason he's selling the club is because he has to and the due process nonsense is he wants as much money from the sale as possible.
That's incredible to think Eriksen is starting a match. Never thought he would. A bizarre coincidence that Anthony Taylor is the ref again
I have The Canaries vs the Bees on the IMAC with the match on USA on the telly.
I don't really feel like watching any more football this weekend, but I'm back because the Leeds boys need some help from other sides now. I'm watching Burnley v. Chelsea and of course I'm all Blue.
At the same time, Norwich are playing Brenford - a draw would be the best result there.
On the Canaries vs Bees link they're showing the match that USA is showing. WHY?
I know what you mean Bob but even with a loss....I think it was positive day for Leeds
They were the better side
Welcome back, Bob. Hope you will be around for at least the Mane Derby tomorrow
Why aren't they showing the match from CR?
I just tuned in Goal Rush....it is the same match the TV is showing...they should show a different match
