The War of the Roses Resumed?
Good morning, guys! Leeds United v. Manchester United. For the first time in 18 years, an Elland Road crowd will have the chance to enjoy this meeting of ancient foes. Still, a lot of people will get carried away about it. The media of course are promoting it as The War of Roses Resumed. And many Leeds fans will see it as the most important match of the season. Yet, if one looks at it in the cold light of day, fourth place Manchester United and 15th place Leeds United are not true rivals and our season doesn't hinge on beating them. It depends on beating the likes of Norwich City, who we play in a few week's time. So, realistically, a point today would be more than satisfactory for my beloved Leeds. But more than that, I want to see a fun and exciting match with lots of goals.
Let's have some fun, chaps, eh?

Good Morning, Bob. Thanks for getting used started. Looking forward to the match. I'm expecting a competitive, m hard fought match
Morning Boys
I hope this is a good game and not the nil niller from last season.
I read a fact today... it has been 18 years and 125 days since the Red Army traveled over the Pennines to Elland Road!
I will be on LOB today. Walt isn't coming over after all
I think a point would be a better result for Leeds even though both our teams need three points for different reasons. Lindy starting for United for the first time in two years according to the person interviewing Ralf
Lingard starts for United!
Raph doesn't start for United!
Leeds XI: Meslier, Ayling, Llorente, Struijk, Dallas, Koch, Klich, Forshaw, Rodrigo, Harrison, James.
Subs: Klaesson, Firpo, Raphinha, Roberts, Bate, Gelhardt, Cresswell, Shackleton, Kenneh.
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, McTominay, Pogba, Lingard, Fernandes, Sancho, Ronaldo.
Subs: Henderson, Mata, Rashford, Fred, Varane, Dalot, Telles, Matic, Elanga.
Good Morning, Dave. Great to have you on board today. Hard to believe it's been eighteen years
Morning, guys - I'm settling in with my lucky LOB brekkies - cuppa and bagel. Really looking forward to this one.
Well the Good Guys have been willing to play but the Bad Guys have buggered off to Doncaster, Crewe and others!!
LOL! Well, you could have joined us in L1?
Looks like Bielsa is going to play it somewhat safer today, with Adam Forshaw replacing Raphinha in the starting line-up.
Numpties in the studio still trying to be comedians
I really hope Leeds turn the corner and go on a great run....starting at 11am today
I hate how the media complain about how Leeds play
They want teams to be boring
So bummed Chelsea got that late winer...they scored after I left the diner... United are not that far behind them!
LOL! I'll be happy with a point today. Realistically, we're not going to get anything against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday. And then a point at home to Spurs next weekend. That will point us on 25 points from 26 matches.
The likes of Lee Dixon and Graeme LeSaux will never understand or respect the Bielsa way. It goes against everything they know and believe.
MOT sounds great
Glad USA are showing it
Now Man Utd have shut them up!
MOT! Lovely scenes!
Love it....United wearing their red shirts...just a change of shorts
The way it should be
Bugger....they now go off for a commercials
Back from a trip to the bog and back just in time for the match. I see I didn't miss any goals
Sorry Bob....I'm against your lot today
I used to hate Leeds every day of the year!
Now, I hate them only 2 days
Off we go
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
They're off from ER ope a special occasion.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Good luck, boys - let's have some fun!
I second what Dave said. I feel the same about Leeds
Early free kick for United.
Man Unitred need to win or the two London clubs will likely overtake them for the last CL spot and fifth place
So upset about the two teams gunning for the title
I hate Pep.... and of course Liverpool
Dan James nearly away there. He's playing on his traditional right side today, with Rodrigo playing through the middle.
Arsenal have some games in hand but Chelsea and Liverpool are two of the games
PHEW! Nice ball down the right by Dan James but the Lead player had Klichjed himself to offside position
Storming atmosphere here - they're well up for it.
Surprised that Lingard and Obiwan get the start
Hopefully Ralf isn't resting for Atletico Madrid on Wednesday...btw....that is on CBS proper as well
That's encouraging, Dave. I guess you and I will be rooting g for Pool and Chelsea those matches. A ion today still helps our cause just as a Leeds win would help them move further above the drop zone
WOW ! Definitely surprised top see the match at AM on the local CBS during the middle of the week. Looking forward to it
Oh - Jack must finish those chances!
Harrison hits over....he was WIDE OPEN! I saw it...how don't United!
OH! Jack Harrison blasts over from, close range but called offside. United wanted a foul on Obi Wan but he was fairly tackled. Leeds with the better start
Hopefully that is a norm for CBS...are they stopping soaps?
It's been two weeks in a row
Klich should probably have been penalized for that challenge on Pogba but instead he was allowed to romp forward and chip toward Jack who made a hash of the half-volley. An early goal really would have settled the nerves.
Well Struijched in on Bruno and does well to prevent a corner
Nice tackle by Pascal there as Bruno threatened.
Anything with Simeone is a Soap Opera . Just more in the sporting genre. Does that count???
Sad to see Kal and Coop in the stands.
Bruno down off that tackle. It was a powerful, but fair challenge
McTom fouls Harrison.... McTom likes a foul here and there
Full throttle stuff so far with very little finesse.
Harrison fouled. Down to the foul or did he catch a bout of McTomain poisoning?
Back in the days with a Roy Keane winner...I miss those days
Agreed, Bob. This has the feel of a local derby
Pogba with a shot... almost spilled
That's more like it
Pogs has a go from distance and Meslier spills a greasy ball but recovers it.
I heard McDonald's took McFoul sandwiches off the menu do to bouts of McTomain poisoning. Did you all hear about that?
I worry that Raphinha is unsettled right now. We need him until the summer when he'll likely move on.
Bruno can keep crossing like that all afternoon, ta very much.
The cross from Bruno is halfway to the Pennines rather than to the player on the box
Agreed about Raph. He will be hard to replace
It would have been helpful if there had been a spot of McTomain poisoning in the United camp this week.
Ooh - nasty one there from McTom.
Wow.... blood coming out of the head!!
I am not sure it was a foul but McTom needs to settle himself down
LOL, Bob! That's wishful thinking. Ralf banned the players from McDonald's
Robin Koch still getting some treatment. We can't really afford to lose him with Liam Cooper still recovering. We'd likely turn to 18 year-old Charlie Cresswell if he had to go off or Jamie Shackleton and a reshuffled.
That challenge was not Koched to perfection and therefore spilling some blood for the cause. That's a textbook case of McTomain poisoning
Fresh shirt needed for Robin and a fresh wrapping for his head. He's really been in the wars.
Ok...enough of the 92 talk!!!!
United drew both league games... knocked Leeds out of both Cups and then......grrrrrrr
Good old, Robin - he's going to carry on.
Play resumers asa Koch will need to change his jersey due to blood spilage
Could have done more with that free kick.
Butcher or Ince comes on
Not many chances have been made yet
What are the Elland Road faithful singing - can't quite make it out. But I'm sure it's spicy.
United have done nowt going forward...there has been the Pogba shot and that is it
You remember how Gazza described Paul Ince then? "Look like a pint of Guinness." Not very p.c. - wouldn't go over today.
That really was an Ayling pass from Luke straight to David. De Gea that is
Winter Break ahead of me this week
I am only tutoring one girl on Tues/Wed/ Fri for 90, 60 and 60 minutes respectively
Easy week!
To be fair, there hasn't been a lot of free-flowing football yet. It's been played at a furious pace.
I don't remember that description but knowing Gazza and his lack of sophistication anything could have gone with him
Why didn't Lingard first cross....then a cross comes in...just too high for Ronaldo
Ah - we had a break on but just couldn't get the final ball right.
Well done Dave. You deserve a break after all those hours put in. Hopefully you have been able to earn a fair amount of Bob over the past weeks
Sounds like you'll deserve the rest.
Bruno already whining....not a good sign
When he is more bothered about complaining...he stinks
Am I correct that CR 7 is the only player on the pitch that has played at ER in a War of the Roses Derby with fans prior to today?
Oh - good hit from Forshaw! Beaten away by De Gea.
Forshaw with a shot saved
United's defensive is so poor
The people in thew studio may like controversy but were spot on about Bruno's complaining and how it can cause unrest in the team
I think you're probably right, David.
Powerful shot by Adam Forshaw straight to De Gea , who beat it away
United win the ball in the midfield....can't pass the ball good enough... no chance!
This match feels more like a derby than the Manc Derby
Hand in the face there for Dan James.
I'm wondering if Bob thinks of matches vs Burnley more like a derby than this match as Burnley is closer to Leeds
COME ON UNITED...they have a chance....useless!
Poor clearance by Meslier straight to Sancho, who passed to bruno and he found McTomain , who was muscled off the ball
Well, certainly matches against Burnley are more important for us these days.
Phew! Point blank save by Meslier from Ronny.
Great move by Pogba....how did Sancho not score!!!
He was two inches out....he sucks
OH! Nice run and pass by Pogba going past Forshaw and a superb close range reflex block by Meslier from CR 7
Now a free kick for United after Klich fouls Maguire.
It was Ronaldo...it was behind him
I'm wondering if matches vs Burnley have a more of a derby atmosphere or vs United
Another set piece....another lack of a goal!
It is not just corners United have failed to score from this season
Nearly half an hour gone and still 0-0. Suits me just fine.
Robin Koch is down again and Bielsa isn't happy about it.
Robin Koch down again and looks a little dizzy . Looks like he will have to be substituted.Junior Firpo would probably come on for him
Thankfully.... TT isn't on the mic...he'd be going on for 25 minutes about concussion
a standing ovation and the Leeds coaching staff with words for the fourth official , who is the Dean of officials
Doesn't look good for Robin - he's struggling off. Firpo to replace him and then someone will slide over.
Junior Firpo not ready and probably not ready to irk Dave, LOL!
Junior Firpo now on for Robin Koch
Firpo in at left back then, Dallas slides over and Struijk at defensive middie I think.
Pacal just blocked the Struijch from Bruno after a pass from Sancho was cleared
Pogba is starting to do well
Bruno with a shot....saved
Brilliant from Pogba there and then Bruno curls one that Meslier claws away.
Chance gone then...it's a corner
Meslier pushed away the shot from Bruno from just outside the box then Jack Harrison put it out for a United corner
OMG....MANCHESTER UNITED SCORES FOR A CORNER
Bugger! Maguire is left alone and he scores United's first set piece goal all season. Of course.
Shocking defending. 0-1
GOAL ! MAGUIRE SHAW DOES HEAD IN THE CORNER TO GIVE UNITED THE LEAD. LLORENTE LEFT HIM OPEN
Sorry, Bob. Plenty of time for your united to come back
Maguire the first United player to score at ER since Roy Keane. Now that's a long time
Sorry Bob... I feel for you...but...you know
I know, mate.
First United goal off a corner this season. The 140th time is the charm. Bob was hoping that would have come later
Over 140 corners!
I was going type before the goal...why don't United just give up the corner and give the other team a goal kick
Maybe....like London Busses?
I hope Obiwan has a good game...he is way down RR's pecking order
Phew! Sancho fires over when United were threatening again.
Ronaldo gets some much flack from the media
I don't see what people saw in Sancho...not impressed at all
Oh - Klich nearly in there but De Gea clears. Better.
Obi Wan must think Ralf is Darth Varder . Definitely doesn't want the force to be with him
Why are all of the chances falling to Forshaw? Over the top.
Bob, no need to worry...this United side never make things safe
Sancho is learning that playing in the Bundesliga is quite a bit different from the Prem.
Ronny Kliched there and made a meal of it.
Let's hope, mate.
I agree with Dave. there's always a chance against us. The Seagulls was the exception and only because they had a player sent off
Bob, for some reason CR 7 and Bruno don't seem to Klich
What was that from Llorente now?!
oooh....almost a great finish there!!
Another corner...two for two?
OH! Miscommunication between Llorente and Meslier and United gifted a corner
United on a roll off corners
Glad you aimed that awful pun toward Bob
So... another 140 to go before we score another
Leeds break off this United corner
James is upended by Obi Wan and this one might earn a yellow.
LOL, Dave. A pun and often times reality
The media this day in age is so bad
Whatever happened to impartiality. All these ex-players are just pathetic. You can't take anything Carra or Neville or Richards say with any seriousness
Half a dozen stoppage time minutes
Into six minutes of stoppage time now.
ANOTHER STUPID foul by McTom
Foul by McTom now and we've got a free kick chance.
He is not the sharpest tool in the shed
That Struijch had a tad of McTomain poisoning in it and Leeds have a free kick
Elland Road faithful getting a bit restless now.
Those fouls from the last corner
Why is VAR so inconsistent ?
Dave that statement reminds me. Have tried the new McDummy meal on the McDonald's menu. If you do make sure not get ab out of McTomain poisoning
Klich strides forward but then fires well over. And it gives Jim Beglin a chance to nick David's pun.
EL Tel the last leeds boss to defeat our United in the Premier . Simon grayson was Leeds boss during the Cup upset
Cross just too long...then Shaw with a chance.... awful!!
TWO NIL!!!
Bruno heads in a Sancho cross...great run by Lindeloff
Bugger! I was hoping that we could hold out at 0-1 until half-time. Not to be. Nice move by United and Bruno finished with an easy header from six yards. No chance for Meslier this time.
WAY HAY BRUNO HEADS UNITED IN TO A TWO GOAL LEAD. IT DSARTED WITH A LONG AYLING BALL HEADED BY MAGUIRE TO LINBNDELOF. PLAYED A MICE ONE TWO THEN PASSED TO SANCHO WHO PUT IN A GOOD CROSS FOR BRUN O TO HEAD IN
Leeds caught on the break. Very sorry, Bob., I think the score flatters us a tad
And the ManYoo faithful are giving us the Joy Division treatment now - lovely.
Half-time, then. A really big hole for us to dig out of.
Half time
This is not over...United don't play two halves of football
United two up at the half .Both goals were headers. One off a corner and one on the break in stoppage time
I am a Fox fan later on today...got knock Wolves down a peg
WHY ARE ALL THE GAME MIDWEEK ON THE COCK?
The Olympics are over!
Teams out for second half
So is Rahphinia and Gelhardt
True to form, Bielsa is making two changes at half-time. Raph and Joffy coming on and Llorente and Jack off.
Those two scare me
This game is not over at all
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Jack Harrison and Llorente replaced by young Joe Gelhardt and Raph. Those are bold attacking changes by Bierlsa, but why not?
The second half is underway from ER
Stupid play by United... Leeds have a shot saved
Not a good start....again...this team drives me nuts
Standing water on the pitch
Leeds attack from the off . McTomain tackled and a shot Kliched for a corner that is headed away
I'm guessing Bielsa didn't mince his words at the half and between the halftime talk and the condition of the pitch Leeds can cause United problems
Nice attack there but the ball falls to Klich who's shot is deflected out.
Can't believe the water on the pitch...did they bring out the brooms at half time!
This one should probably be abandoned.
The ball should be chipped more often..Don't dribble...dont pass on the ground
Be smart
At least we're attacking. Nice interchange there and the Dan James cross just evaded Joffy.
Nah...just call it off now and give the win to the Red team
Pogba seems to be the only one who's thriving in these conditions. Was he born in a swamp?
They didn't have pitchforks to clear Hillsborough , but Expect from Leeds, LOL!
Pogba passes it back to DeGea....STOP IT...the ball isn't running
Bloody Elland Road.... no drainage in Yorkshire?
Oh - Ronaldo was set off there. No flag and then Meslier saved. Then the flag went up! Ridiculous!
The players are still trying to pass the ball on the ground
Ronaldo was well off...just raise the flag...so stupid
OH! CR 7 beat the offside trap off a long ball from POgba then blocked by Meslier with just the keeper to beat. Why doe the flag take forever to come on
Bloody hell - Matty Klich is giving me hives today.
I think Wellies would be better footwear than footie boots.
EXACTLY....Kadoomph it up the pitch
Bloody hell.... Rodrigo flukes it in
Oh what was that from Rodrigo?!
No chance that that was intended. That was a cross and we got lucky.
1-2!
BLOODY HELL! THAT WAS MISS HIT BY RODRIGO BUT WENT IN THE UPPER 90. CROSS FROM THE LEFT LANDED IN THE UPPER 90 AND FOOLED DE GEA. LEEDS BACK IN AND NOW 1-2
This side is going to blow it....AGAIN
They are so fragile
IT IS DESMOND IN A MINUTE
Congrats Bob...but this team sucks
