A Tale of Two Uniteds
Morning, gentlemen! I'm settling in in my favorite chair to watch the good stuff this morning. We start wth a bang this week, with United hosting Southampton at Old Trafford. The Saints had a terrific win against Spurs in midweek, so United will have to be careful. After that, the highlight of the 10 o'clockers is Everton v. Leeds, with Marcelo Bielsa and Frankie Lampard renewing their tasty rivalry. Those matches are all on The Cock. Finally at the end of the day, we switch over tot NBC for Norwich hosting the league leaders Man City. Join me for all the action, eh?

After dropping a couple of points at Burnley during the week, Manchester United really need all three this lunchtime as they continue fighting for a top-four finish.

Moring Bob
I was about to post a thread but I saw you had a draft going
I am not confident about this match at all. Southampton looked really good at Spurs and came back to twice to win it 3-2
United couldn't beat Burnley!!
By the way, this is the first Ralf/Ralph Derby in the Prem
Very poor by NBC...only one out of ten matches on the telly.
PATHETIC!
Good Morning, Bob and Dave. Up early to watch Ralf ball when the Saints come marching in
Why do they have take these guys to the Super Bowl?
Where is Becky? Is she at the Olympics?
Arlo should be in England commentating! He just got a free ticket SB
Dave, very observant with the Ralf/Raplph. Ralf would be pleased. Hpefully this leads to Happy Days for the two Dave's
Saints in the tunnel
You can hear the crowd singing "we love United"
The Stretford End sing that for about 10 minutes straight before the teams come out
Morning David
NBC stands for Never Be Conscientious. Also Never Be Considerate for one out of ten televised matches. Three out of ten if you count two on Telemundo tomorrow
Ralf is about a foot shorter than Ralph
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
I'll take another Nine Niller
They're off from OT.
COME ON MAN UNITED
That would be a fantastic result.
I wouldn't mind a win by the same difference in height between Ralf and Ralph
Ralf really doesn't like ObiWan at all....never gets a game
His he DVDB in disguise
Great cross there by the Saints...no one crashing the six yard box
Not a good omen for United
Wow...the guy sent off in the first minute in the last match never played for them again!
Rash puts the ball in.... not good enough but a good idea
Morning, boys - I'm back with my cuppa ready to roar Man United on to victory. Come on, you Red Devils!
Sancho runs the ball into the box.... poor decision making there
This Broja fella has been a revelation for the Saints. Where did he come from? I've never heard of him before.
Broja is an Albanian international born and raised in England on loan from Chelsea. Not sure if he ever got a match with Chelsea
The commentators are suggesting that Ralph Hasselhoff might make a good next United manager. What do you reckon?
United with a swift move.... Ronaldo rounds the keeper.... Saved off the line!
He didn't hit it hard enough
OH!CR & rounds Forster and it lacks the power as it's cleared by Kyle Walker-Peters in the nick of time
Oh - great break through Sancho who plays Ronaldo through. He rounds the keeper but his soft effort is cleared off the line.
I think We can do better than Rapf & Ralph. Probably being considered because Ralf in his role of consultant is probably picking his mate
OH! End to end stuff. Two Sain ts shots well blocked then United break and a nice kick save by Foirster from Sancho.
Oh - danger for United now but it's cleared and Sancho runs it up the pitch and nearly scores. End to end stuff.
Phew...thought the Saints were in there
Now United break.... Sancho has a shot saved
Sancho shoots that time when he should have shot unlike the last time
At least there was pace going forward
Bob. I thought you were in Gazpacho jail and we would miss you this morning
Kick it with your left!!
LOL! I've been let out on a weekend furlough, David. Glad to be able to join you.
I like how United are passing the ball forward
El Yanoussi with a cross blocked for a Saints corner
HEE HEE! Shor t corner comes to nothing
That's great to know. Hope all goes well after the furlough
Awful short corner by the Saints there....are they United in disguise?
I like the traditional colors the teams are wearing today
Cup Final '76 memories
Rash booked for a rash striker's challenge
Rash in the book... I dont get all of these cards
It was a tackle attempted but just late
Geez....Atwell is the ref and he screwed us in the last TWO games!
I was thinking the same thing, too, Dave, but not great memories of that Cup Final, surely.
Bob's two favorite teams playing ion a Yorkshire Derby as it's the Terriers hosting the Evil Blades
I second that about the team colors and '76
In '75 I was looking at Fulham and say why can't United make the Final in my lifetime!!
We then made 3 out of the next 4
I cried after the 76 Final and Joel came over and tried to abuse me
CR 7 leads United in two categories: Goals and age.
I'll definitely take the Terriers in that one. Leeds have an intertwined history with Huddersfield while the Blades are our most hated rivals.
That sounds like Joel, alright. I wonder if he even watches the football these days. Does he still call you on your birthday?
WAY HAY ! United take the lead. not sure if it was Sancho or an OG , but pass came from Rash
GOAL! Sancho turns in an easy one set up by Dalot after a lovely break.
1-0!
YES!!!!!!!
United break with pace..... Great ball to Rash who finds Sancho....ONE NIL!!
Surely VAR can't take that away
He still does call me on my birthday. He says he can remember my birthday more than his wife and son!
He called me when he heard about Tony as well
It was a a great break and a pass from Salisou picked ups from Un item bat their own touch line. Several passes later a superb pass from Brun o found Rash wide right and his pass was p[ut away bye Sancho at the far post
Come on United.... SCORE AGAIN!!
That's nice - I'm glad to hear that. I'd love to see him again one of these days.
He dropped by quite a few years ago withe his biker buddies. We went out to dinner
He had long gray hair
United now up to fourth place. The Gunners cannot overtake them because their match at Chelsea is postponed due to Chelsea's involvement in the World Club championship. Hammers play at the Foxes tomorrow, so hopefully the DFoxces can do United a favor
Perraud trips up Pogs and United have a chance to swing a free kick in now.
United are attacking...that's the important thing
Attacking with PACE
WOW ! Great info on Joel.!
Ross Perraud should be booked for that. Not nice to see dirty politics in footie
As for United this season... there is a part of me that wants them not to get a top four spot because it just papers over the cracks! This side doesn't deserve anything!
On the other hand, we need a CL spot to attract players
Oh - Ronaldo was nearly in again there!
After a fairly even start, the goal has firmly tipped the balance in United’s favour. Southampton aren’t offering so much in attack now.
I would say that balance is on the latter - you need to stay in the CL in order to get the sort of players in in the summer to push on and challenge City for the title next season.
Sadly, United have not added a second
Not having a good feeling
Decent hit there from Armstrong from distance - not too far away!
Back from the bog to see I did NOT miss a goal
Bruno and Ronny almost playing a one-two
McTom tackles no foul called... that would have been in JWP range
Oh - good attack by the Saints there with Walker-Peters fizzing a cross across that no one got on the end of.
Broija wins a corner off of Maguire
OH! Shot from Stu Armstrong saved by De Gea off a long throw back headed by a United defender
Phew..... Armstrong wide open... De Gea saves
COME ON UNITED!
Oh - great save by De Gea as Armstrong threatened. United have let Soton back in here. They must be careful.
So.... it is Super Bowl Sunday tomorrow. The latest every date. They added an extra week of games!
It always used to be at the end of January then it was the first week in February and now it is the second week
Anyway, this year it is on Kathy's birthday... Cincinnati are playing in it.... the city of her birth
COME ON BENGALS
The replay of the Sancho goal.... he didn't finish very well
His shot was not hit into the back of the net...hit a defender
United have started to sit back and concede chances....it happens every game!
OH! Ross Perrot cut inside three United defenders standing back and forces a comfortable save from De Gea
Oh - now Perraud got a shot away and De Gea had to get down sharply. United could use the half-time whistle right about now.
What a birthday for Kathy. At this rate the SB will be played in the Summer in our lifetime
Lovely day in Manchester, as usual.
As I said, United need a second goal but of course we got one at Villa Park and didn't hold on
A pair of stoppage time minutes
I didn't know that Kathy as a Buckeye by birth. Happy birthday to her. Will you be watching the Stuporbowl? I always tune in around 8:30 for the half-time show.
It's 0-0 at the half at Leeds Road
BUGGER! GOAL FROM POGHBA OFF A PASS FROM CR 7 DISALLOWED FOR OFFSIDE
Ball in the net... LATE LATE LATE flag
So stupid
Just raise the damn flag
Pogba taps home but he's been flagged off immediately. Shame.
United one up att he half as that elusive second goal eludes United yet again
United players saying their new coach is Ted Lasso
Not good
HT
So far so good
I'm off for a half-time snuggle. Back in a tick. Happy so far with this one.
What happened to Becky Lowe? Otherwise, it's the usual panel. Should be on NBC Sports.
Teams coming back out at Old Trafford now.
Teams out for the second half.... COME ON UNITED.... PLAY LIKE THE FIRST
Come on, you Red Devils!
Dangerous back pass there... De Gea comes out and gets it
Bugger... happening all over again!
1-1
Sorry, chaps - United have let Che Adams in to equalize.
EVERY BLOODY GAME
Sadly, normally United can't recover
Southampton come again and finally Armstrong shoots a bit off balance.
Saints break.... there were two players wide open...Armstrong with a weak effort
Not liking this at all....but knew it was coming
Oh - now Broja pulls a great save out of De Gea.
Bruno almost with a comical OG
How do United not score there!
Maguire hit the third post from 6 yards out
Ronaldo and Dalot make Forster makes saves
I don't like the body language of the two Iberians.... they do a lot arm gestures and whining
Armstrong with a chance... hit over...phew
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Rash has a chance to shoot three times... he doesn't!!
Saints break from it and almost score
Oh - Broja waltzed through the United defense there. Too easy for them.
Come on, United - pull your fingers out!
United forget how to play in the second half!!
Under OGS, we mostly played really well in the second half having to come back after playing so poor in the first....now it is exactly the opposite
Free kick for United....chance gone then...haven't scored from one all season..
Ball in the net... offside again
The ENTIRE team was offside!!!
What is taking so long.... EVERYONE was offside
Finally
I HATE VAR
Sorry, lads - frustrating day for Ronaldo.
Awful cross by Rashford.... just pathetic
Not good by Shaw
De Gea saves the corner
United break.... AGAIN...I think poor decision making
Rash with a chance....he's hopeless
Oh - Rashford was in there. You just need one chance to nick this one.
Last ten of the 90
COME ON
Dalot with an atrocious cross
DO THEY EVER PRACTICE CROSSING
BLOODY PEP
Lingard to come on
I would take off Rashford
Deja vu here as Lindy is about to come on.
It is Rashford
Back for the second half, but I had to deal with an unpleasant matter. Discover told me that my social security number appeared on the dark web, so I had to hop online to file a fraud report.
United fail to get it in the box... so frustrating
Every time United have the ball to attack and they don't get it in the box... they give away a break
Geez...hope all is well David
A lovely bowl of oatmeal has arrived at my side.
Pogba booked for a foul on Libramento and now letting Stu Atwell have it
Pogba in the book... of course he is...he's on my team and I lose points
Thanks, Dave. I feel good that I did all that I can do. Nothing on my credit report, but I still filed a fraud alert so anyone using my number has to go through a lot of hoops. Hopefully that helps
This side always lose their head when they have to be calm and try and score
Still 0-0 at Leeds Road. Terriers remain fifth and Evil Blades seventh , outside a playoff spot , behind Forest on goal difference
Bruno...what does see...some his attempts are useless
Maguire skinned again!
Will VAR give a pen?
Broja down with a horrible attempt at trying to win a penalty. Good tackle by Maguire
Sorry, David - I hope that gets sorted out before long.
Thankfully common sense prevailed and no penalty and Broja unhappy at having to go off and get treatment. it's his fault for faking injury
Come on, United - get a late one!
Thanks, Bob. I placed a fraud alert, and ordered credit reports, so I have a good feeling
Here we go again...United losing their heads
United really frustrated now - Lindy gets a card for dissent.
5 added minutes
A quintet off stoppage time min utes to get a late winner and avoid yet another 1-1 draw. Starting to feel like Sexton's last season at United
Not a lot but still too much for my liking
The added time is out of control
United look so nervy
No urgency...well maybe not to concede
United win a late free kick
Lindy wins a free kick out wide left.
Free kick to United...chance gone then
Damn... great save
OH!@ That Shaw was a great freee kick and a great save by Forster from a Maguire header
Still not a great header by Maguire
The ball hit him
All our throw-ins go backwards
It all to stop momentum... the authorities don't want goals
That will do it
Another couple of points dropped
They are useless
All over
Bloody pathetic
It finishes 1-1 at OT and yet another two points dropped and yet another 1-1 draw
They never score a second
They always concede
So frustrating
Sorry, chaps - very frustrating.
Thanks, Bob. Hoping for better from your United at Goodison Park.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
I wonder if Bob will be wising VDB good luck on his debut. The two Daves won't.
Little Ralf vs Big Ralph finished 1-1
I'm back from doing some dishes for the big one. The team news out of Goodison:
Everton Pickford; Coleman, Holgate, Keane, Kenny; Gordon, Allan, van de Beek, Iwobi; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.
Subs: Begovic, Patterson, Branthwaite, El Ghazi, Dele, Gomez, Townsend, Tosun, Rondon.
Leeds Meslier; Ayling, Llorente, Struijk, Dallas; Koch, Klich; Raphinha, Rodrigo, Harrison; James.
Subs: Forshaw, Bate, Klaesson, Roberts, Bate, Shackleton, Kenneh, Gelhardt, Hjelde, Summerville.
The Zed Cars theme plays as the teams enter the Goodison Park pitch. It's Lamps vs Bielsa renewed
So, your own pal Donny Van de Beek gets his Premier League debut today and DCL is back from injury. I think if we get after them from the off, we could get something out of this one. My patented rubric says we need a point today.
LOL! I'm hoping that Donny has an absolute stinker today, David.
I am back from some errands ready to watch the entertaining United
DVDB gets a start
There's a lLondon Derby as the Bees host Palace and the Hornets vs the Seagulls. Neither looks great but both also on the Cock
Thought you would say that Bob.
Not feeling Cock a Hoop about the lack of televised matches today
They're off from Goodison Park
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
We are off
Come on Leeds
And we're away at Goodison - MOT!
STRUTH... Everton almost in!
How was he so wide open!
OH! Nice Ayling tackle on Flash Gordon to prevent an early Toffees lead
Bloody hell - Anthony Gordon was wide open and Llorente had to get back desperately.
A furious pace right from the off. I expect loads of goals.
Bob wouylkd be wanting Mings the Merciless in the Leeds defense to stop Anthony Flash Gordon
Phew! Meslier finally has a chance to take a breath. Come on, lads - settle it.
No thanks, Mings was tragic on Wednesday, allowing wee Dan James to beat him in the air for the second goal.
The commentator mentioned the yellow socks back to the 70s
I thought exactly the same thing
Didn't Leeds and Chelsea both change the color of their socks for the 70 Final
I think Chelsea wore yellow and Leeds wore red in the first match
BUGGER! Richard Burton takes an early lead vs Cambridge . Liz Taylor with the goal
Good grief! It's action packed from the start. MOT!
Gordon does get a shot off finally but Meslier is behind it.
Flash Gordon with a shot from 25 yards out straight to Meslier. Good start by the Toffees
Good Morning, Steve. A weekend off for the Gunners after that great result on Thursday
Abe Lincoln takes the lead vs Wycombe
Stu Dallas seems to have a problem; we'll have to watch that.
We're finally getting the Christmas stuff put away so I'll be in and out while watching.
Stu may have to come off then. Not a good start for us, as Firpo still isn't fit. Looks like young Leo Hjelde to come on.
BUGGER! Stu Dallas down and signaled he needs to be substituted. Hejlde the Notting ham born Norwegian , on for Dallas. His dad formerly played for Forest
Pompy playing lowly Doncaster
Cousin has sent a vid of them coming out of the tunnel
So wish I could got to another match at Fratton Park
I remember going way back in the 70s... bought a Georgie Best Rosette !
Another time, my Uncle Arthur and I were going to see Pompey play. My cousin and dad didn't want to go. So we left the house and drove down the hill to the roundabout.... as we entered the roundabout the radio announces the match was postponed. We did a 180 on the roundabout and went back home....we had gone 2 minutes!
WOW! Sounds like a busy morning, Steve. Have fun.
Welcome, Steve! Thanks for dropping by for this one.
Hiya Steve
