FA Cup fourth Round Sunday and the Fifth Round Draw
The draw for the Fifth Round was made this morning and there are three Fourth Round matches today, one which just finished. Liverpool defeated Cardiff City 3-1, with all the goals coming in the second half. There's an East Midlands Derby that kicks off at 11 AM with Forest hosting the Foxes. The day concludes with not just the last non leaguer side left in the competition but the only side below the Championship remaining as the Cherries host National League side, Boreham Wood with kick at 1:30 PM. Join me if you can for the remaining matches.

Liverpool will host the Canaries thanks to their victory vs Cardiff.
Only two out of the eight Fifth Round ties are all Prem matches. Those are Pool vs Canaries and Saints vs Hammers There are four Prem vs Championship matches. That changes to six if the Foxes won at Forest and the Cherries defeat Boreham Wood
Morning, David - thanks for getting us going. As you can imagine, the idea of waking up for a 7am match after a late Saturday night wasn't exactly palatable. I fully expected Liverpool to run out winners against Evil Cardiff.
Liverpool and Citeh will be favorites to reach the final now - great draws for them.
Hey Boys
I'll be watching the Forest match in the basement on my computer while putting together a rowing machine for my brother-in-law
I'll be around midweek for the league matches
Good Morning, Bob and Dave. Glad to post the thread . Next is an East Midlands Derby as the holders make the short trip to the City Ground.
Cheers, Dave. Look forward to chatting during the Prem matches
Both managers formerly employed at Liverpool, The Bridge bin charge for several seasons while Welshman, Steve Cooper was the youth team manager at Pool. His last season was Brodge's first. Then become the England under 17 manager
They're off from the City Ground
Steve Cooper took the swans to the playoff fin al last season where they lost to the Bees. Has Forest up eighth . They were in the drop zone when he took over in September
The Fourth president fouls Ryan Yates just outside the Foxes box
Free kick into the wall, then cleared
First good chance for the Foxes and well wide by Ihenacho after some fiords time passing in a move that started in the Foxes half
Cross from Ztielemansd off Joe Worral for a corner . Keeper, Bryce Samba just failed to prevent the corner
James Justin wins a corner off of Scottish international, McKenna
I'm back from the shower and squeaky clean and settling in for the Forest v. Leicester match.
Training Ground routine nearly comes off . Corner passed to Ade Loomman just outside the box and his first time shot deflected just wide
Good Morning, Bob. Great minds think alike. I showered after the first match. Those showers are great during the cold weather
This should be a competitive affair. Forest are knocking on the door of the playoffs spots in 8th, while Leicester are mid-table in the Prem.
U.S. keeper, Ethan Horvath , on the subs bench for Forest . Has on ly played twice since signing from Brugge in then Summer. Canadian international, Richie Lareya, also on the Forest bench , but for the first time as he was just signed from Toronto FC
Yes, indeed - on most days I shovel for an hour - my morning workout - and then shower up afterward. I took a break from it this morning, as we didn't get any additional accumulation.
Forest have been in fantastic form since Steve Cooper took over in September and definitely must be considered as having a good chance of ending the season in the playoffs
Interesting how many US internationals are bouncing around Europe these days.
Great that you finally get a break from shoveling The good news is that Spring should be about a month away
Agreed, Bob. Now some Canadians are in Europe too.
A bit of argybargy there settled with a Forest free kick.
Harvey Barnes concedes a free kick to Ryan Yates. Free kick cleared then Keenan Davis , on loan from Villa has a volley crash off the post after controlling the ball with his chest
It's starting to feel like a local derby. Best chance of the match even though the Foxes have been the better team
These two managers know each other. Steve Cooper's last season as manager of the Pool youth team , Brodge's first in charge of Pool. Cooper left to take charge of the England under 17s despite being Welsh
GOAL! Forest have grabbed a lead against the run of play!
GOAL ZICKERNAGEL GIVES FOREST THE LEAD. CROSS FROM BRENNAN JOHNSON HEADED DOWN BY KEENAN DAVIS AND PUMPERNICKEL SCORED EASILY FROPM CLOSE RANGE. NICE LAYOFF FROM DJED SPENCE
Nice chipped in cross by Johnson and a tidy knock-down at the backpost and Zinkenardin was Johnny on the Spot.
GOAL! BRENNAN JOHNSON PUTS FOREST TWO UP . TWICE IN A MINUTE
Oh my word - Forest have another! Johnson this time! He's on a flyer! And the City Ground are rocking!
Tidy finish there between the goalkeeper's legs.
2-0!
It was a horrible back pass from Amaerty to break up a forest move down the left. Went straight to Brennan Johnson who nutmegged Welsh international teammate, Danny Ward to put Forest two up
Brodge is positively seething! His team were totally on top of things and now it's unraveling. And this has got to be the last chance for Leicester to do anything this season.
As things stand the holders will be put away to lower level opposition in a local derby. Also would be the only tie without a Prem team. Would be an all Championship Cup tie and possible dress rehearsal for the playoffs.
I wonder why there wasn't a match scheduled for 9am this morning? It would have been a perfect time to schedule a Premier League match - surely there were two teams out of the Cup who could have played this morning.
The Foxes players need to spend less time complaining ng to ref, Paul Tierney , and more time looking at how to get back in the match. Surely, the Brodge will bring this up at the half
Agreed, Bob. I thought it odd that there's a two hour gap in matches
Djed Spence wins a corner off of Luke Thomas
First Forest corner of the match after scoring twice
"Premier League - you're having a laugh" sing the triumphant Forest fans.
Corner missed by Ryan Yates who could have put Forest three up then Danny Ward superbly turned around a shot from Joe Worrall
Oh - Forest were nearly in there again for a third.
It is 3-0 now! Wow!
GOAL ! THIS TIME JOE WORRALL SCORES AS HE HEADS IN THE CORNER TO PUT FOREST THREE UP
Forest thrashed the Gunners in the last round and now the Foxes so understandable why the fans would be chanting what they are
Simple goal there - Decent corner over, Leicester defense all over the place and a stooping header from Joe Worrall.
As things stand Forest would be thrashing the last two Cup holders. Is that correct?
Forest doing all this without top scorer Lewis Grabban out injured . Still grabban plenty of goals despite that
Martin Tyler stated that Forest haver faced the holders seven times previously and won five of those matches. Looks like it's going to be six out of eight
Long free kick and Keenan Davis is a nuisance to the Foxes defense who clear for a corner
A foul called off the corner from James Garner. I saw that on the Rockford Files
Nice kick save by Danny Ward from SDjed Spence off a pass from Keenan Davids. it started with a goal kick from Bryce Samba
GOAL! THEN THE FOXES IMMEDIATELY PULL IT BACK TO 3-1
GOAL! Oh - that's brilliant from Ihenacho!
Good ball forward from Maddison and the goalkeeper went walkabout. Once Ihenacho had beaten him, he still had a lot to do to find the net.
3-1 - What a match!
Nice finish from Ihenacho , but a moment of madness from keeper, Bryce Samba as he rushed miles out off his box needlessly. Long ball from the back from Maddison Avenue to Ihenacho who side stepped Samba then scored from a narrow angle in an empty net
I think that is, correct - it's a brilliant Cup run for them. But will it distract from their main goal of gaining promotion?
Djed Spence fouls Harvey Barnes near the Forest corner flag
I have a feeling that Steve Cooper won't allow any distractions. They're on a roll and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the playoffs at the end of the season. Should be a cracking cup tie vs the Terriers in a clash of playoff hopefuls
Hope is this for an interesting stat? Forest haven't been in the Prem for 23 years. Far too long for a club their size.
Same score now as the final score in the early match. All the goals in that match were scored in the second half
A trio of stoppage time minutes
James Garner is down , holding his head, like he did in the Rockford files when receiving a wack from a thug
Too late Martin. I already mentioned the Rockford Files twice
Forest lead 3-1 at the half and the holders are in trouble
Well, that first half raced by. More of the same in the second half, please. Whew!
I totally agree with you on Forest in the Prem. I'd much prefer to see a club like that go up then another season of watching WBA, Fulham or Bournemouth struggling.
The teams come back out to the strains of "Mull of Kintyre." Odd choice, that.
The second half is underway and the Bridge makes a change as Patson Daka on for Harvey Barnes
Forest nearly in there for a fourth but Soyuncu blocked well.
Ade Lookman wins a Foxes corner off of Djed Spence
Soyuncu wins a free kick out wide left now after the corner. Forest will need to be careful here.
Corner headed out then stupid foul by Pumpernickel on Soyuncu who wasn't exactly going to put in a dangerous cross
Maddison tries one from the training ground but it's woefully executed.
Training ground routine from the Fourth President a disaster waiting to happen
Doesn't look like Steve Cooper has told his side to park the bus quite yet. That may come in the last ten minutes, though.
James Madison had better luck with the War of 1812 than that free kick, eh David?
Shot from the Fourth President just win eon a Foxes break off a pass from Daka who got a long pass from the Fourth president that started with a tackle won by Soyuncu
LOL, Bob! If the War of 1812 had gone the way that are kick did we would be a British territory
Well, the Canadians did burn Madison's White House to the ground. Still - that free kick was worse. ;-)
This Forest side reminds me of the Bees. Would be a great addition to the Prem
Not sure, Bob. Both were pretty awful. The fourth President did burn his side with awful back pass of a free kick
Stu Robson calls Forest former Champions League Winners. it's actually European Cup
That was naughty win Pumpernickel Indidi. Does he prefer rye?
I agree - they'd struggle, as Brentford have of late, but at least they'd be less predictable than yet another season of the same WBA side that was relegated the year before.
A deserved booking for that despite campaigning against the decision.
Agreed, Bob. Also better than having the likes of Burnely and the Hornets
GOAL! Forest are 4-1 up! Wow!
GOAL! DJED SPENCE GIVES FOREST A 4-1 LEAD
Definitely - apparently that match yesterday was one of the worst of the season.
It was well worked throw in . Taken by Spence , got the ball back then played a one two with Pumpernickel , before scoring with a great finish past Danny Ward
Tidy finish there from Jed Spence.
Both sides had a chance to score shortly before the goal., Danny Ward made a great save from Brennan Johnson and seconds before a last ditch Forest tackle in the Foxes box where the Foxes were appealing for a penalty
Jack Colback on for Pumpernickel
Mr. Pumpernickel has gone off then. Which reminds me - I'd kill for a spot of pastrami on pumpernickel for lunch, right about now. Wouldn't you?
The Fourth President to take the Foxes corner
Soyuncu heads well wide but it was a really difficult angle to score from
Pereira on for Lookman . and Tielemans off for Dews bury-Hall, which is around the corner from Bob's office. Some odd changes considering the Foxes need goal
Lt. Becker books James Garner for a foul
Agreed, Bob. it's about time for lunch. I will be ready for a sandwich once the match ends
Just wide by Lowe off a pass from James Garner
Lowe tackles for a Foxes corner Indidi
Corner from Maddisonm Avenue headed away by the first man. Not an advert for taking set pieces
Now the Foxes haver another corner.Better from Maddison Avenue and further but headed away
Sam Surridge on for a Forest debut for Keenan Davis
Daka with a shot from 25 yards out that lands in Row H
The Fourth President deservedly booked for a foul on Djed spence
The Fourth President in danger of being sent off. Just booked then fouls James Garner, but didn't look as serious after seeing the replay
Perreira battles his way to a Foxes corner off off Jack Colback. The corner is over everyone then Bryce Samba makes a good save from an Amaerty volley
Speaking of lunch, we're sitting down to a bowl of Fiesta Chicken soup.
Naughty by Amaerty on Sam Surridge and should have been booked
That's a perfect lunch for this weather . well done
A double substitution from Steve Cooper. A standing ovation for James Garner as he's replaced by Cafu and also for Brennan Johnson as he's replaced by Xande Silva
Forest will be hosting fellow Championship playoff hopefuls, the Terriers , in the Fifth round
A trio of stoppage time minutes
Nice pass from Daka to Perreira and his shot from just outside the box is just wide
The Fourth President throws himself to the ground to win free kick from Max Lowe
Free kick headed sideways by James Justin
It's over and the holders are dumped out by a 4-1 thrashing by Forest.
The holders were certainly humbled by Forest, as were Arsenal in the last round.
The last match of the day is the fairly unappetizing one between Bournemouth and Boreham Wood. I'll likely have that on in the background as we go about our afternoon chores.
The Fourth Round concludes with the Cherries vs boredom Wood. The Cherries are third in the Championship, a point and a spot off an automatic promotion position. Wood is fifth in the National league, in a playoff spot, hoping to be promoted to be promoted to the Football League for the first time in their history. Today Wood hoping to make it to the Fifth Round for the first time in their history
The teams are out in the tunnel. The winners travel to Goodison Park in the Fifth Round
They're off from Dean Court
The late one has started, not surprisingly with the home side on top.
We're going to take advantage of the sunny weather on go on a Sunday outing . It was great chatting with you and look forward t o chatting on Tuesday. Enjoy the rest of the day.
CHEERS!
Just checking in with the late match coming up on half-time and Boreham Wood have got a shock 0-1 lead over the Championship side. Could be a giantkilling effort on the cards.
Cheerio, David - great chatting with you today, as well. Loads of great Premier League action coming up this week. I'll look forward to the chatter.
Into the second half now - interestingly Scottie Parker has turned to Todd Cantwell, who has just come in from Norwich. I've always fancied Cantwell but he's fallen out of favor at Carrow Road.
An amazing win by Boreham Wood, who are the sole remaining non-league outfit left in the Cup now. They've earned themselves a visit to Goodison Park today.
