A Spot of Footie on a Sunday
As usual, I'm settling in a wee bit late on a Sunday morning to enjoy the Premier League footie. I've got Burnley v. Liverpool pulled up on The Cock. Elsewhere, we've got Newcastle v. Villa. I'm hoping both Burnley and Newcastle get thumped, of course. After those matches, the late one is Leicester v. West Ham.
Come on by for a cuppa and a chat, eh?

I'm settling in with the official breakfast of the LOB now. Liverpool are knocking at the door by half an hour in they're still at 0-0.
Martin Weghorst has already missed a couple of big chances and there's another one. The big man snatched at it.
Weghorst was through again but Alisson blocked him out. He was offside anyway.
Come on, Liverpool - pull your fingers out!
GOAL! Fabulous! It's a scrappy goal from a corner but Fabinho somehow manages to bundle it home.
0-1!
That's half-time then and Jurgen sprints away to the tunnel. His side is 0-1 up but Burnley are still in this.
The teams are coming back out now. Liverpool can't afford any slip ups here, with Man City ticking along like a well oiled machine.
In the other 9am kickoffs, Kieran Trippier's free kick separates the sides at SJP sadly. And Wolves are 0-2 up over Spurs right now.
On the strength of that goal, Newcastle are now four points from safety and breathing down Everton and my beloved Leeds United's necks.
Oh - Ben Mee had a free header there but made a complete mess of it.
Good Morning, Bob. Thanks for getting us started. I'm watching the match from SFL 2.0 on Telemundo and the match from Turf Moor on the computer
In thew match at Turf Moor Pool lucky to be leading . It's been an easy match and but for several misses by Weghorst Burnley would be leading
Free kick scored by Trippier like the one scored against Croatia and vs the Toffees in midweek
Harry Kane and NOT Abel to score as he Sa did force a kick save from Jose with just the keeper to beat
Morning, David - how are you, mate?
Trips has been a good buy for the Magpies. On the evidence, Newcastle may just stay up and then the Saudi money will buy them a completely different squad going forward.
This match has the same feel as the one with United in midweek. I don't know why Burnley are so difficult for the big teams to break down.
Like for like as Thiago is on for Hendo
Doing well, thank you for asking . How are you this morning?
Agreed about the match at Turf Moor . I've been thinking the same. It's like the match vs United
Agreed about the Toon , but it's not just how much money you have but how well you spend it and so far the Saudis have spent wisely
Yeah - alright, mate. Kate and I are going to take advantage of my sabbatical to plan a day of just pure rest and relaxation for Valentine's Day tomorrow. I've got a couple of special touches up my sleeve for the morning. How about you and Elizabeth - any plans for Valentine's?
I could use a Villa goal right about now.
Dwight McNeil On for J Rod which means that Coronet will probably be up front with Weghorst
And another goal or two from Liverpool.
That sounds like a great Valentine's Day. I'm not sure what we're doing for Valentine's Day. We're doing are usual Super Bowl snacks today so tomorrow may be low key
Lennon finds Weghorst and he fends off a couple of challenges and unleashes a drive at Alisson.
It's looking more and more like the bottom three is going to be the Canaries, Hornets ,and Burnley, especially if the Toon win
As usual, I'll be tuning in for the half-time show - I hear it's Mary J. Blige and possibly Snoop today. Now that the Bills are not in it, I have little interest in the Rams v. Bengals.
Olly Watkins has scored Villa at SJP. VAR checking
I guess we'll be rooting for the Bengals as it's only their second SB . Their only other one was 40 years ago when they lost a close one. Fort us it's more about the occasion than the actual match
Goal disallowed. Still 1-0 to the Toon
Bobby Chompers with too much bite on that header as it was a freee header that went over off the cross from Andy Robertson. The offside flag bailed him out
Oh - how did Firmino miss from there! It's of no consequence - he was a mile offside.
Pretty much like for like as Steve Berg-Wine on for Lucas Moura. We don't want any Moura of those Spuds attacks
Dave would not approve of the athletic leggings that Alisson is sporting today. It is raining but that's not really any excuse.
Wolves the only Prem team to score from open play today and those were early in the match
Sorry to hear that that Villa goal was disallowed. I'm still hoping that Villa can turn this one around.
I agree with you and Dave. Alison needs to stop acting like an Allison and wear shorts. No excuses!
it's looking more and more like the bottom three are going to be separated by a huge gap from the rest of the league in case that's any consolation
Wolves up to seventh and the Spuds down to eighth if this result holds
like for like as the injured Weghorst replaced by Ashley Barnes
Just wide by Dejan Kulesevski, recently signed by the Spuds on loan from Juve
Poo, break and TAA smashes the ball off Joish Brownhill's face to win a corner.
Oh - Mo Salah had a chance to romp forward there as Liverpool broke, but he picked the wrong choice.
Nearly an OG by Ben Mea as it goes out for a Pool corner oa pass from TAA
Oh - nearly a corking own goal there from Ben Mee!
Like for like as Casino Royal on for Matt Doherty
Liverpool seem to be seeing this one out in the attack, but it's still a slender lead. I'd be happier if they were 0-2 or 0-8 up.
Wolves manager Bruno Lager will Hwang Chung tonight as the striker is on for Danny Podence
Leeds' next three matches are at home against your lot next Sunday, then away to Liverpool in midweek and then at home to Spurs the following weekend. I'd be happy with two points from those.
Pool no w nine points behind Citeh with a game in hand and still have to face Citeh. They're Citeh's only real challengers and their chances ae slim
Are you suggesting that Bruno enjoys a pint or two?
Coronet plays in an offside key as he was through , rounded Alison then shot in to the side netting
They would have to beat City and hope that they drop a couple of matches. Slim chance is right.
LOL, BOB! He looks fit and trim but is always opening to a few samples
The Portuguese are not known for their lagers. They're more of a port wine nation.
Chelsea won the World Club Championship for the first time in their history defeating Brazilian side , Palmeiras 2-1 in ET. Kai the Guy with the winning goal from the spot three minutes from the end of ET
Agreed, Bob but it's always a good pun to use. I guess Catalonia would be the nearest lager brewing area to Portugal
Oh - Jota is nearly in there but Pieters put him off.
You're a man of a million brilliant puns, mate.
Hard to believe that not one single second half goal has been scored in the there ematches even thought here have been plenty of chances
Jose Sa did have too tip over a header from a spuds corner
Cheers, Bob. I try but not necessarily a pro
Brest thrashing Troyes 5-1. I guess Troyes not keeping abreast off matters
Into stoppage time at SFL 2.0 A quintet of those minutes. You can Conte on the Spuds boss not being being a happy chappy
Liverpool seeing this one out - Burnley will be stuck on 14 points now from 21 matches. Still only one win all season for them. Realistically, they'll need at least five wins in the last 17 matches. I can't quite see it.
A trio of stoppage time minutes at Turf Moor
It looks more and more like the bottom three are going to be pretty far adrift from everyone else
Bob will be pleased but not Dave due to it being a really late stoppage time change as Milner is on for Keita
it's over at Turf Moor and Pool has to grind out a 0-1 win at Turf Moor . Bob will be pleased
It's over at SFL 2.0 and riding those two early goals Wolves win 0-2
The COCK now off to SJP where Toon lead Villa 1-0
I'm fairly pleased with that Liverpool win. Not so with the Newcastle score-line. It'll put them up to 21 points.
St. Max goes past four Villa players before a deflected shot is comfortably saved by Martinez
I guess you're main hope is that the bottom thre\ee stay pretty far adrift. that should help
It's over at SJP and the Toon hold on to defeat Villa 1-0 and are now four points clear of the bottom three.
No joy for Villa today - the Toon Army are elated. Newcastle are four points clear of the dropzone now.
I'm off on shoveling duty, mate. I'll be in and out of the late one.
The only remaining match is the Foxes vs the Hammers , which doesn't look too exciting. I'll be rooting for the Foxes.
Cheers, Bob. Wishing you the best. We didn't get any snow even though we were supposed to get some.
They're off from the KP
GOAL ! JARRED BOWEBN GIVES THE HAMMERS THE LEAD WITH A GREAT FINISH. A REALLY SIMPLE GOAL WHERE A LONG BALL FROM DIOUP FOUND BOWEN WHO BEAT THE FOXES OFFSIDE TRAP AND SCORED WITH A NICE FINISH PAST KASPER
James Justin down for the Foxes as they are about to take a corner . Luke Thomas about to come on . One right back for another
PENALTY TO THE FOXES AS CRESWELL IS CALLED FOR HAND BALL OFF A CORNER. A REAL GIFT TO THE FOXES AS THEY'VE CREATED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
GOAL 1-1 AS TIELEMANS SCORES WITH A WELL PLACED SPOT KICK. THEIR FIRST SHOT ON TARGET OF THE MATCH
A trio of stoppage time minutes
Hammers remain fourth a point ahead of United while the Foxes move two place s up to eleventh ahead of Palace and ahead of Villa on goals scored.
It's 1-1 at the half and Davie Moyes will not be pleased that the Foxes were gifted a way back into the match. It's 1-1 at the half and not a classic half of football as the goals were the only shots on target of the half
The second half is underway from the KP
I'm just checking in with the late match after lunch. Enjoyed reading your notes on the match. I don't have a lot invested in this one as neither side is a threat to Leeds' immediate situation.
GOAL ! THE FOXES HAVE COME FROM BEHIND TO TAKE A 2-1 LEAD. RICARDO WITH THE GOAL
The goal off the Foxes best football of the match. The hammers coughed up the ball then several passes later a long cross field pass from Tielemans found Harvey Barnes wide left and his cross was headed in at the far post by Ricardo
A minute earlier a pass across the box by Harvey Barnes just missed an out stretched leg at the far post . This goal was coming
Thanks, Bob. Hope you don't have too much shoveling left to do
The Foxes now up to tenth place while the Hammers remain fourth , but only ahead of United on goal difference
That’s got to be a great result for United.
GOAL ! DESMOND AT THE KP AS CRAIG DAWSON HEDAS ION A CORNER FROM JARRED BOPWEN AS WE ENTER STOPPAGE TIME
Into a barber Shop quartet of stoppage time minutes , but it will be more due to the goal
The Foxes move down a place to eleventh place while the Hammers stay fourth, now a point ahead of United
It's over at the KP as it finishes Desmond.
That's it for me . Great chatting . Enjoy the rest of the day and look forward to chatting on Tuesday.
CHEERS!
Cheerio, David - I'll catch up with you during the week.
