Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The teams on display at Carrow Road:
Burnley (4-4-2) Pope; Lowton, Collins, Tarkowski, Taylor; Lennon, Westwood, Brownhill, Cornet; Weghorst, Rodriguez.
Subs: Hennessey, Long, Roberts, Thomas, Stephens, McNeil, Cork, Barnes, Vydra.
GOAL ! CANARIES TAKE THE LEAD!
Good Morning, Bob. and congratulations. Great news for you
Of course I'm hoping for a Norwich win to keep Burnley from progressing up the table.
And wahay! Norwich have scored early doors! Sean Dyche will be livid to see one go in from a corner.
Norwich have a precious 1-0 lead!
Morning, David - how are you? Any more curious April weather overnight?
Lees-Melou started it so he finished it. The Frenchman won a corner off of Dark that was taken by Kieran Dowell and Burnley failed to properly clear then Lees-Melou smashed it from just outside the box and it deflected off of Josh Brownhill just inside the post
Doing well, thank you for asking . How are you?
Sunny and cold this morning. It got down to the 20s , but it's supposed to be 70 today and in the low to mid 70s the rest of the week. Spring starts later today. Hope about you?
I have the match from CR on the telly and the London Derby on the computer. I guess you're going for the Hammers while the two Dave's root for the Bees.
Foxes vs Palace is the battle for ninth place. One team still in the FA Cup and one still in the Conference League
That sounds like us today - I like it bright and sunny and cold. We had a lovely long walk yesterday afternoon. I don't think that we're do for a warm-up until next weekend, but I'm hoping to tool up my bike this week for the riding season.
Oh - Pukki was in there but Pope did well, saving with his leg.
OH! Great kick save by Nick Pope from Pukki
Elizabeth is pleased we're starting Spring. She's ready. We've had a few short spells , but this will be the first sustained spell for us. Hope you get Spring weather soon. I bet Kate is ready
Coventry pays a visit to your place today. If the Cottagers win today and win at Pride Park Friday then they would clinch promotion on Good Friday.
Flappy has a powerful shot from Bryan Mbeumo straight at him that he's forced to push around for a corner
I'm back with the official LOB breakfast - bagel and cuppa. Lovely!
The Old Firm really showing their dominance and the Saints shopping they need divine intervention . Celtic really thirsty as they went sven up vs St. Johnny on the final goal of the match yesterday and this morning Rangers well on top at St. Helen Mirren as Rangers won 0-4 thanks to a hat-trick from Bob's mate, Kemar Roofe. Celtic half a dozen points clear of Rangers with five matches remaining
Oh - Maxwell Cornet pulls a good save out of Krul to be Kind. He's the danger man.
That's a great brekkie on a chilly morning
Zouma not puring as he's down off a challenge from Norgaard
Yes, Kate is ready to get into the backyard and clear out the beds. It's one of her favorite gardening activities.
He's done and is replaced by Issa Dioup
I started the weed eating Friday since all the grass is on two steep hills. Had to stop when not started raining and hope to resume this afternoon.
An interesting stat yesterday in the Poem . The away team out scored the home team 15-2 and 16-1 if you discount the opening match.Toffees only home team to win yesterday
If Norwich lose this one, we're just about safe. I had counted this one as a Burnley win in my calculations.
That is curious. It must have just been the match-ups - a lot of top teams visiting lower teams.
I think Leeds need three out four points to be safe. I'm adding an extra point for safety due to Toffees win yesterday
Hammers still win sixth place. If they win then they go above the Gunners to fifth place on goal difference
If Canaries win today then just three points needed to be safe according to my calculations
Just to let you kn ow the snow didn't stick to the ground d here, but once the sky cleared I saw a light dusting of snow on the upper part of the tallest mountains
That's my thinking, too. I don't expect to get anything from the three matches against City, Arsenal and Chelsea, especially with things so tight at the top, so that would mean a combination of three points from the matches away to Palace, at home to Brighton and away to Brentford on the last day.
Fornals wins a Hammers corner off of Zanka
I think there are points too gain against the Bees and Seagulls, especially if they have nothing to play for. I think there's four points available there
Foxes take the lead vs Palace in the battle for ninth place
That sounds beautiful. The videos you shared make it seem like you have a number of great walking trails to enjoy with Trooper.
Goal came from Lookman and assisted just down campus from your office at Dewsbury-Hall.
Yes we have lots of walking trails which attracted us to the area. This is a great place to live and visit.
I'm not sure why Brownhill took that free kick rather than Cornet. Cornet scored a lovely one against us. Brownhill skied it.
Not hit cleanly by Aaron Lennon, but wins a corner off of Kenny McLean
Magic - that sounds great. I'll look forward to visiting one of these days.
Corner not punched cleanly by Krul then a powerful volley from Westwood blocked then a shot J Rod blocked for a corner. Next corner cleared and Matty Lowton with a powerful shot deflected off of Gibby for another corner
Looking forward to your visit . We have a spare bedroom ready for you.
Free kick from Eriksen nearly headed for an OG by Coufal as it's inches over for a Bees corner into a trio of stoppage time minutes. A blogging duet of those minutes at CR
Comfortable save by Flappy from Eriksen
Foxes go two up vs Palace
That goal scored on the Fred Town campus at Dewsbury-Hall with an asset from the Fourth President unless the assist was in one of Bob's classes during a presentation of the War of 1812
Canaries one up at the half
Half-time: This one is going just swimmingly. 1-0 Canaries at the half.
Foxes two up at the half vs Palace. Bees ids Hammers is 0-0 at the half
The second half is underway from CR
Second half underway from the Bees Community Stadium
GOAL! BEES TAKE THE LEAD VS THE HAMMERS
I'm back for the second half now. Sam Byram, our LUFC Academy friend, hauls back Cornet and Burnley have a decent free kick chance.
That would be a great result for United. Would you and Dave be okay with a Europa League spot for next season or would you prefer to be out of Europe altogether?
Davie Moyes will be none too pleased as his players fell asleep at a routine throw in. It was taken and a wide open Ivan Toney found Bryan Mbuembo , who scored past Flappy at the near post
Big Matty Vydra is warming up now. I suspect that Jay Rodriguez will get the hook.
I think I'm with Dave that I'm okay with us being out of Europe, but as he stated we may not attract top players, which we don't anymore. We would be able to have more training sessions to improve
That score is good news for United , but not necessarily for you. Bees entered the match level on points with Leeds. Would be all but safe with a win
That's the only worry. You'll want to unload some players and allow Erik Ten Hag to rebuild with a fresh group over the summer.
So far a great weekend for Spurs if this result holds. With United , Hammers, Gunners and Wolve sall losing and their big win, they're in a great position and should defeat the Seagulls next weekend
I'm not that concerned about the league standings, as long as we stay up. 16th is just fine by me.
Of course, speaking of attracting players, we'll likely lose some players over the summer who don't want to play on a relegation threatened side. Raphinha is sure to go and I wouldn't be surprised if he were followed out the door by Kal Phillips and perhaps Ilan Meslier.
I'm not familiar with Erik and his ten Hogs. My first thought is that we should be able to do so much better. He should go to Animal Farm. I'm neither excited nor thrilled about him becoming our manager.
Isn't there a North London Derby to come? If so, that will surely be the Champions League decider.
Sounds like United might have a barnyard approach to things next season, eh?
That's a good point. This match should really help. I don't see Burnley getting more than 35 points if this result holds. That leaves you needing three points which Leeds should be able to get
I would love to throw Erimk in the barnyard with ten hogs. Somehow I don't expect the football to be the same, sad to say
If they lose this one, you're right. They'll have eight matches left after today, on 24 points. I could see them winning perhaps two matches and getting a couple of points here and there. Probably end up with 32 points. Not enough to stay up.
Spurs will be six points ahead of the Gunners if they defeat the Seagulls on Saturday. The North London Derby is Thursday May 12th. I won't be around for that because we will be at Melanie's graduation ceremony that day. By then the match may not have many implications
Perhaps the worst performing player would get the job of slopping out the hogs?
Are you flying back to Texas for that one?
I said 35 to err on the side of caution. I think Leeds should be able to get a win vs the Seagulls and/or Bees
Dwight McNeill on for Aaron Lennon, who has appeared to have lost a step. pretty much like for like
Another LUFC Academy product Aaron Lennon trots off; not a good day for him. McNeil comes on.
No we're driving to Texas. It will take a day and a half and we will be suffering in the heat and humidity now that we're used to this climate
That was my original thinking. The only issue is that Brighton have been a bogey team for us since returning to the Prem.
They beat us twice last season and again this season at the Amex.
Oh - what a miss by Cornet! You would have bet the farm on it....
I have a feeling Dave will be coming up with more than enough players to tend to the hogs
GOAL ! IVAN TONEY PUTS THE BEES TWO UP. HE ASSISTED ON THE FIRST GOAL
Well, it will be all worth to see Melanie's big day. Congratulations to her!
Have the girls seen your new place in NC?
Wow - that will not make WHR a happy chappy this Sunday.
Yeah - Dave usually wants to sell half the squad. How about you?
It was the revers e of the combination for the first goal. Nice run down the left by Rico Henry, then played a one two with Wissa . Then his cross was volleyed back across by Bryan Mbuembo and scored with a well placed header boy Ivan Toney
Lees-Melou, the goalscorer, comes off to a hero's ovation. It won't change Norwich's fate this season but it will at least give the Canaries fans a nice Sunday out.
Half the squad would need to be sold, but not all at once because it's hard to do well with too many new players at once. Ship off the worst few first
Agreed. Johnno now knows how Steve and us felt yesterday
That's precisely why I didn't want us to leave anything to do on that last Sunday away to Brentford. They're a decent side, especially with Christian Eriksen now.
Thanks, Bob. Yes, Melanie flew back to Texas the day after we moved in and Jacquelyn lives with us. She will resume classes at the local community college this Summer
I think the Seagulls and Bees won't have anything to play for , so they may taker their foot off the pedal. I'm predicting Leeds picking up four points from those matches
Haha pulls it back to 2-1 at the KP. Kasper saved his penalty. I'm not sure if the goal was him scoring on the rebound
Bob, I'm glad I didn't bet the farm on United winning yesterday. If they were horses they would be shot. I think Cloughie said that about Eddie Gray and was far from being a marksman with one of his typical remarks
YIKES! Coventry two up at your place. You and Kate are being too generous with the hospitality this morning
Charlie Taylor booked for bringing down Pukki about an inch outside the box
Oh - good save by Krul there from Grant Hanley's header.
OH! Nice free kick off the training ground .It was plated back to Pukki in the D and his shot was diverted inches over off of Grant Hanley's head. Skimmed the top of the bar
Sergio Canos on for Bryan Mbuemo
Nice save by Nick Pope from Rashica on a break off a Burnley corner. Was well picked out by Pukki
Well, that's perhaps our only saving grace. Their seasons may well be over and they may lighten up a bit.
Canaries change as Brandon Williams on for Giannououlous,. final roll of the dice for Sean Dyche as Ashley Barnes on forJ Rod. Dyche desperate if he's bringing him on
Trump supporters will be pleased that Brandon came on for the Canaries. Is that an accurate current events description?
Wahay! Teemu Pukki has sealed it!
2-0 Canaries!
WAY HAY! PUKKI PUTS THE CANARIES TWO UP. WELL PLACED SHOT
Sounds like it - "Let's go, Brandon," eh? There's a neighbor nearby that has a banner with that on it.
The goal came from a Canaries free kick that was headed out and Matty Normann did well to pick out a wide open Pukki and he scored in the corner with just Nick Pope to beat
Canaries still bottom and seven points from safety, keeping their very slim hopes alive
Cristos Zolis on for Pukki
I'm off to the shower - I'll be back for the big one in a bit.
Coventry two up at the half at the Cottage. What's going on at your place?
Cheers, mate. Enjoy
A quintet of stoppage time minutes at CR
Bees now in 13th place on 36 points, ahead of saints on goal difference, but behind Villa on goal difference
A trio of stoppage time minutes at the Bees Community Stadium
Krul to be Kind does well to turn around a curling shot from Josh Brownhill
Horrible attempt by Dwight McNeill to win a Burnley penalty. Should be booked for diving
Canaries have defeated Burnley 2-0 as have Bees vs Hammers. Foxes have defeated Palace 2-1
I'm back for the title decider now. Looking forward to it.
The team news out of Maine Road:
Manchester City (2-8-0): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Cancelo; Rodri, Bernardo Silva, De Bruyne; Sterling, Foden, Jesus. Subs: Steffen, Mahrez, Zinchenko, Fernandinho, McAtee, Lavia, Grealish, Gundogan, Ake.
Liverpool: (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Mane, Jota. Subs: Kelleher, Jones, Tsimikas, Konate, Gomez, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Diaz.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Wythenshawe)
All the experts seem to be going for City. I'm predicting a hard fought draw. I hope there are some goals in it, but the sides could nullify each other.
Back from walkies as it's warming up. Here for the biggie
I agree. I'm predicting a draw. This match may be fixed as the Prem wants a title race and a draw would leave Citeh a point clear at the top
How was your walkies, mate?
Teams coming out now - marvelous atmosphere.
Coventry still two up at your place. Kate must have rattled some teapots at the half
Walkies was great. It looks to be a lovely day after yesterday. Snow completely melted on the mountain tops
The matches have become such a production. I still remember the days of the teams just running out, kicking the ball about for a few minutes and then starting the match. Brass band at half time. That was it. Now it's all bunting on the pitch, fireworks and confetti cannons.
Agreed. Everything now long and drawn out American style.
They're off from the Etihad.
And we're away in this momentous tie.
It look like Foden is on the left against Alexander-Arnold. Sterling will play through the middle, Jesus on the right.
Oh - the first big chance. Sterling straight through on goal but Alisson stands up well to him.
OH! Sterling nearly put Citeh up against his former club Great close range block by Alison
GOAL! KDB GIVES CITEH THE LEAD
GOAL! Sterling has scored now! City strike first!
Sorry - it's KDB with a deflected shot that evades Alisson.
Fab fouled Kyle walker . Citeh took a quick free kick and a deflected shot from KDB went in off the inside of the post
That's a huge goal for City, which will settle the nerves on this big occasion.
The save from Sterling came on a Citeh break led by KDB . He played the ball wide right to Jesus , who passed to Sterling for that great save a minute before the goal
Gabby Jesus goes down looking for a penalty there. Nothing doing from the ref.
Arlo corrects Yours Truly. There was 38 seconds between the save and the goal, not a minute
Citeh really seem to be stretching Liverpool with some strategic long balls out of defense.
This puts Citeh four points clear of Liverpool , but there's a lot of football to be played
I don't see either side dropping points until the end of the season - they don't have any difficult matches after this.
Citeh yet to drop a point from a winning position this season. Not exactly encouraging for Liverpool supporters
GOAL! Jota equalizes and this has become a fizzer!
GOAL! JOTA TIES IT UP. WE HAVE A MATCH ON OUR HANDS
That's exactly what this match needed. Just when Citeh seemed to be dominating and then Liverpool struck back.
Great lay back by TAA.
I believe that that puts TAA onto eleven assists for the season - he's in the lead.
The two Pool fullbacks combined for the goal. It started with a throw in the Pool half. Later in the possession a cross from Salah was headed out then Andy Robertson picked up the clearance . His cross was volleyed across the box by TAA and then well placed by Jota with just Ederson to beat
Gabby Jesus has a half-chance but strikes it straight at Alisson.
I'm not sure who I picked for assists. It might have been TAA , but not sure.
Kate pulls it back to 1-2 vs Coventry late on.
For once, a much-hyped match is living up to the expectations.
This would be a real turn-up result in the Championship.
Agreed. We're pleasantly surprised in this Prem title match
The only way Cottagers can be promoted on Friday is if they win at Wazza's place and the Teesiders win at Dean Court on Friday
Looks like you chose KDB. He's got a chance, as he's only a few behind.
Rodri with a long range shot deflected off of Fab for a Citeh corner.
it started with anything but Fab defending as he was caught faffing about at the back
Thanks for the update, mate. I think I have change if KDB is close behind
YIKES! Coventry take a 1-3 lead in the third minute of stoppage time at your place
Oh - Ederson nearly pressed the self-destruct button but he made up for it by winning a challenge on the goal line from Jota.
That would have been a comical OG by Ederson . Shades of Roy Carroll playing for United
Doesn't look like that will change much in the Championship - with Fulham ten points up. They'll just have to wait another week to confirm promotion. Coventry well out of the playoff spots.
Free header for John Stones off a KDB free kick and headed wide
it's over at your house and Coventry win 1-3. You're spot on as the Cottagers promotion is delayed. Coventry half a dozen points outside the playoffs with a far inferior goal difference., Sounds like they're making steady progress.
Andy Robertson booked for cynically tripping KDB
Robertson gets the first yellow of the match for taking out KDB.
Poor free kick from KDB set Liverpool away again and then TAA tried an ambitious Pele effort.
Horrible free kick from KDB and Pool counter. Never left the ground then Salah tried to beat Ederson from thew halfway line and basically passed to him
Oh - KDB has a chance to put City in the lead. Finds the side netting.
Then Kdb with a nice reverse pass to KDB and from a difficult angle shoots just wide of the near post
Hard top believe these two will be meeting in the Cup semis next weekend
End to end stuff now - lots of quality on display. I hope that a lot of Americans are watching. Great advert for the Prem.
Made an error . Cottagers can clinch promotion on Good Friday if they win at Wazza's place and Forest lose in Bedfordshire in the playoff six pointer
Oh - Cancelo evades the off side trap but TAA's deflection steers is out.
Do you think that Derby can still survive?
GOAL ! JESUS GIVES CITEH A 2-1 LEAD
GOAL! Gabby Jesus creeps in on a late run to beat Alisson!
2-1!
Corner headed out then Cancelo played a nice ball in the box for Jesus , who timed his run perfectly and beat his international teammate, Alison for a clever finish
VAR checks it and finds that the Brazilian was on side. City have the lead heading toward the interval.
On the balance, you'd have to say that Citeh are worth this lead.
Sorry to save I don't think Wazza's Rams will survive. Nine points from safety with five matches remaining is a tough ask. I doubt will let the Cottagers be charitable at his place on Friday
Hi Boys
Just got back home!
I agree. This scoreline is an accurate indicator of the balance of play
Welcome Dave. Great to have you on board.
Arlo and Le Sox really laying it on about how brilliant City have been but Liverpool are still in this one. One mistake and it could be Desmond.
I just don't know what I want from this match!!!
I don't want City to win the Treble
I don't want Liverpool to win the Quadruple and #20
Can they both be docked 30 points?
Can't stand how they talk about City and Liverpool
Cross from Jesus for Sterling just too long . Could have been 3-1
Bob, surely Leeds are safe!!
The teams below them won't get maximum points
Oh - Jota was in there but the last ditch tackle by Laporte was brilliant.
Perhaps Real can defeat Citeh in the semis . That would prevent the treble.
Hiya, Dave - how are you, mate?
Just a friendly reminder that we got watch these two play at Wembley next weekend. Will TT and Champ be the announcers?
Great save by Allison.... flag up anywhere
I'm not counting my chickens yet. I think we need three more points to be totally safe. But this morning's result was as good as another win for us.
Whoever wins today...loses next week?
That will help
Alison superbly saved a header from Laporte off a free kick then the offside flag was raised
I agree with Bob. Three points makes it certain . Right now Leeds extremely close.
Consider the chickens counted, eggs laid, scrambled eggs on toast
