The End of the Road
Good morning, chaps! The wonks at NBC are calling today "Championship Sunday," and are naturally focusing on the top of the table with Villa on NBC and Liverpool v. Wolves on USA. They're also tossing the Champions League with Arsenal v. Everton on CNBC.
But of course I'll be concentrating on the other end of the table, the two matches consigned to The Cock. I'll be watching my beloved Leeds United who are away to Brentford, while I'll also have an eye on Burnley's home match with Newcastle. The recipe for our safety is simple but could be illusive - we need to do better than Burnley to stay up. That could mean that we score a seemingly improbable win against the Bees but still go down because Burnley win as well. So, we'll need some help from the Magpies.
Join me for the emotional rollercoaster.

Good Morning, Bob. Here to support you on a massive Sunday. They just listed the telly schedule that Dave texted several days ago
I think I'm going to do the PIP on the telly with Liverpool vs Wolves on USA and Burnley vs Toon on the golf channel. On the IMAC I'm looking at watching wither Bees vs Leeds or the goal zone . Not sure on the IMAC choice yet
Sorry . Goal Rush, not Goal Zone
Morning Boys
Not happy with the NBC only putting on 5 games....back in the day...they showed all ten
Looking to next season everything starts and ends a week earlier and later than normal respectively due to the World Cup. Community Shield on July 31st Noon at the KP due to the Women's Euro Final at Wembley. Football League starts the same weekend . Prem starts the weekend of August 6th and ends the day before Memorial day. EL Final a couple days after Memorial day . Conference League and CL Finals in early June.
Good Morning Dave. That was the topic of conversation for Brekkies with Elizabeth and Jacquelyn. Must really be upsetting for them to participate.
Busy June with WC playoffs, friendlies , and Bob's beloved Nation's League. The action doesn't end today
The relegated manager today will be either MJ or JM. Becky says firing Dyche may have been the wrong choice. Howe? Burnley would have been relegated weeks ago, but for the sacking of Dyche instead of having a fighting chance today
Morning, boys! How are you feeling on the last day of the season?
Good Morning, Bob. I have a mixture of emotions. feeling disappointed that United will be either in the EL or Conference League next season.., but nervous about Leeds because their survival depends on not just their result but help from the Toon on Eddie Howe's return to Turf Moor
How are you, mate? Hope all is well in both WNY and ENY. We swam in the lake for the first time yesterday
News is coming through that Lord Bamford has Covid. That about sums up our season. Scandalous.
It's probably my last chance to see a lot of this Bielsa side in a Leeds shirt. Certainly Raph, Kal, Rodrigo and Koch will all go. Maybe others, too.
Doing well, mate. Thanks for joining me on this rollercoaster day.
The Leeds side for this morning's crucial match:
Meslier (GK), Firpo, Koch, Cooper (C), Raphinha, Llorente, Rodrigo, Harrison, Gelhardt, Greenwood.
Subs: Klaesson (GK), Roberts, Struijk, Bate, Hjelde, Cresswell, Klich, Shackleton, Gray.
Positive thoughts mate!
Toon win
Leeds draw
COME ON!
Lord Bamford hasn't played in a while, so not sure it affects Leeds that much. They need to sting the Bees and my Howe you need the Toon to win on Eddie's return to Turf Moor
I second that. Glad you're doing well.Leeds to start next season on the weekend of August 6th with Burnley starting their campaign the last weekend of July
That's what I'm hoping, mate.
In terms of the PPP KDB sorted PFA player of the season and Phil Foden PFA Young Player of the season. I missed it because I've been distracted with Elizabeth being under the weather since returning to Texas.
Wonder why the "studio" is at Anfield and not the Etihad
That is interesting. They said last week that they were going to split their time between the Etihad and Anfield.
That's a good question. I guess the Three Numpties are at the Etihad.
So do United want to finish 7th?
Play some kids in the first rounds
Play the big guns in the knock out and Final
Be the first team EVER to win FOUR European titles
European Cup, European Cup Winners Cup, UEFA Cup(EL) and the Europa Conference
City better not blow it this time after the QPR crap!
Not sure how the PFA awards affected the PPP. I think Your's Truly picked a great Saka for Young Player of the Year, so Your's Truly eliminated if Leeds, relegated or if Pool wins another honor.
We cannot have Liverpool win the Quad...please!!!
No one thinks Leeds will get anything at Brentford
To, supplement what Dave stated, Jose will be the first manager to win the CL, EL, and Conference League if Roma wins on Wednesday.
COME ON FEYENOORD!
Yeah - that's the conventional wisdom, but we have pulled off some shocks this season at West Ham, Wolves.
I don't even want Pool to win the treble. A double is plenty for them. If I'm in contention it will be Real true that I'm rooting for Ancelotti's lads
I'm predicting a draw at the Bees, but it's true that playing there has been surprisingly tricky for lots of teams this season
Leeds in Lilac..... a story of survival
Write a book Bob!
Not sure if it's good to have Eddie Gray in attendance. I think he was a player in 1982 and the manager in 2004. Good in the 60s and 70s for Leeds, but not so much after that. Hope he's not a jinx.
Wahay! The coverage has started on The Cock and the boys are in the tunnel. Come on, you Leeds! MOT!!
LOL, Dave! Great idea.
Brentford already starting up the Seven Nation Army routine against us. Grrrr!
I have Pool and Burnley on the telly with Leeds on the COCK
I'll put it on my aganda.
I hear "Hey Jude" from the Bees Stadium
Still some stupid Golf interview with some annoying Irish interviewer on the Golf Channel.
I think the media want a Liverpool title
To be frank, we need Thomas's lads to lose. Bob will be hoping for a hat-trick of OGs from Pontus
I just have the Leeds match on the telly. I'll rely on you lot and the Guardian for updates elsewhere.
BLOODY HELL! Golf Channel also at Anfield. Now they're not
I have the Leeds match on the Cock and trying to tune in Goal Rush but it's not loading
Probably too many people on it
We might need a bit of help from Pontus. He is an Elland Road legend.
Sam Greenwood making his first prem start for Leeds in place of Klich. He must be injured. What a time for a first start
Matches underway. Lucky lilac for Leeds?
YIKES Bees gifted a corner from the kickoff
And we're away. Poor start there giving the ball away and now having to face a corner. Mark 'em up!
Fortunately nothing came of it
Now then - settle down!
Forget the Guardian
WOLVES TAKE THE LEAD!
MOT!
WOW! Pete Neto gives Wolves an early leads
Wow! That's thrown a wrench into things!
We're showing some good attacking intent early doors.
Will Spurs do a Spurs?
Long throw routine from Raph - don't like it.
Pool Sa were caught out by a long goal kick from Jose ! Konate missed his header and Raul Jimenez squared it up for an easy tap in by Neto
Brentford seem to just want to hit long balls to the speedy front men.
I have Goal Rush on Elizabeth's phone . They're at the Etihad
Very open match so far.
You are a anti-long throw guy.
Spurs miss a big chance...HOYBERG hits one over the bar
A lengthy stoppage at Turf Moor as a Toon player is down
I am - I don't want us to be Stoke under Tony Pulis.
Oh - Meslier almost gave me a heart attack there. Struth!
The quadruple all but over. still alive but extremely slim.
I think the Leeds tactics ar because Leeds are in a relegation fight. I don't think those are JM's usual tactics
Kal starting to dictate things in the middle of the park.
Must be serious because Joe Linton being stretchered off for the Toon. Standing ovation from traveling Toon fans . Not sure who is replacing him
I think one off the Murphy twins came on ., Should;d be at least five minutes stoppage time at Turf Moor if not More
I'm hoping that's true, mate. If Leeds survive, I'd love to see how JM rebuilds the side in the summer.
Chelsea have taken the lead
Oh - Jack had a chance there to play someone in but picked the wrong ball.
Kai the Guy gives Chelsea the lead vs Hornets in a meaningless match
Pool nearly tied it up due to chaos in the wolves defense
Firpo fouls Mbeumo and Ericksen can swing one in now. Mark 'em up!
Great ball in but fortunately no one connected with it.
Free kick from Eriksen diverted wide at the far post by Wissa after Pontus missed the ball. Great way to help his former mates
Now Lascellesd wasting time. KNOCK IT OFF! Don't give Burnley more time
City don't look like they are playing their A game.....are they nervous?
How are Newcastle looking? Are they attacking Burnley?
Goal Rush still at the Etihad
We're living dangerously here. Brentford only need one killer ball.
Spurs take the lead!
Spuds take the lead at CR . Kulsevcski with a tap in as the Canaries were sliced apart
Gooner won't be happy with that.
Consecutive Toon corners. N ick Pope made a ,mess of the first one
Struth...Wolves should have doubled their lead!
VAR checking for a possible Burnley penalty. Similar to what happened at Spuds last Sunday. Reef going to the monitor
Oh - Raph played Greenwood in there. He might have looked to play Joffy in but blasted over instead.
Oh dear - that's not good at all.
I think Toon will get a penalty. Handball after Pope missed his punch. Nathan Collins guilty as charged
WAY HAY! Toon have a penalty . Cally Wilson to take
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
ONE NIL LEEDS
WAT HAY! JOFFY IN A JIFFY
WAYT HAY! CALLKY WILSON GIVES TOON THE LEAD
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!
Joffy!
Double Congrats ,mate
VAR check for offside. Please, please, please.
Newcastle....have a pen...GOAL!!!
WHAT A MINUTE!!!
VAR checking
BUGGER....no goal for Leeds!
Oh no!
BUGGER! Disallowed . Leeds jipped by VAR . Sorry, mate! That was harsh, but at least Toon have the lead
That is fantastic news from Turf Moor!
I HATE VAR
No advantage there!
Leeds out of the drop zone as things stand
BLOW UP REFS!
Liverpool still behind....they have been struggling as of late. Fell behind at Southampton as well
Let's hope Real can wallop them!
Moment's applause at the Etihad. Not sure why
No reason not to blow up.... just do it!
Due to anniversary of Manchester Arena attack. That makes sense
Pool tie it up
Pool tie it up at Anfield. Mane OH Mane. Jose Sa was beaten at his near post. Assist from Thiago
Big shout for a handball on Pontus.
At the top as you were prior to kickoff.
I think Bob would want the refs to blow up now . Also would end the quadruple as the two Dave's would like
If Pool score...they'd be top!
If only that goal had been ruled good - we'd have had a two goal cushion.
I secondi that emotion
I wasn't looking....was the offside...offside?
Oh - Raph nearly in there.
Wonder how United are doing....haven't heard a thing!
I am disgusted with myself for not caring
He was a shoulder off, yeah.
Nasty foul on Guimaeres on a Toon break ands why wasn't there a booking
Gunners take the lead
Arsenal have a pen... 1-0
Such a shame Everton aren't still in trouble!!
I love the way that we're attacking Brentford. I hope that we can keep it up.
Former Gunner, Alex Iwobi called for hand ball and Martinelli scored from the spot, but Spuds still fourth
Did you see that Brentford and Leeds have complained to the Prem about financial crap by Everton
I agree - I always thought that Arsenal would win today.
What financial crap?
Stoppage at the Etihadd as Villa keeper, Robin Olsen with a bloody lip. Should be a fair chunk of stoppage time at both the Etihad and Turf Moor
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10837943/Leeds-Burnley-threaten-legal-action-against-Premier-League-Everton.html
WOW, Dave! I didn't I hope the Toffees get deducted a fair amount of points
Interesting attempt by Raph from distance. Would have been a miracle effort.
Jus lost my Leeds link
Bloody Cock
I'll read after the match due to the amount of action. Looks to be an interesting read
Gunners two up
Eddie puts Gunners two up off a corner
Phew! Long ball crap from Brentford nearly undoes us.
Finally got it back
Citeh looking Shiteh. Pure and utter and crap. Villa resorting to time wasting
Spurs match the Gunners...two nil
Harry Kane and Abel to puts Spuds two up at CR
Could use another Newcastle goal right about now.
Latest news from the Etihad is that Pep will be donning on adult diapers at thyme half. Too stressful for him
Agreed. Another Toon and Leeds goal would both due.
Sorry to say it's looking like too little, too late for the Gunners
Meslier dies well to tip over a deflected shot from Matty Jensen
Oh - Meslier had to tip over from Jensen.
Villa should have beaten Burnley!!!
PHGEW! Just wide by Eriksen off the corner
OMG... Villa take the lead
WOW! MATTY CASH GIVES VILLA THE LEAD
Phew! Ericksen nearly at the near post. Brentford have picked it up in the last five minutes.
Anfield roars
Palace take the lead
Wow!
Wolves....should have scored...bugger
Rare header by Matty Cash as Edersonm diverted out in thew upper 90. Balled played wide left and a great cross from one fullback to the other
Palace taker the lead vs United
Cithe top[ only on goal difference. United 6th only a point ahead of Hammers
If Pool win the league... 1922 and 2022 Champs
United won in 1909 and 2009 and 1911 and 2011
The Two Dave's will not Hwand Chung tonight as he misses a sitter for Wolves on the break at Anfield
Commentator knocking Bielsa now - heresy!
Awful defending by United
West Ham take the lead!!
United in 7th
Wisse hits one that Meslier is able to smother. We need to stop giving the ball away!
Winder goal by Antonio as he gives Hammers the lead asa the AMEX. Hammers now sixth
Agreed, Dave. I defended better than that in AYA. Zaha allowed to walk the goal in
7th it is...not exactly 7th Heaven
It looks as if we've dropped off a bit since Newcastle took the lead.
We really need another Newcastle goal
Yes, that would be lovely.
Phew...just wide
Knock it off losing it at the back
Oh - Mbeumo was in there. Fortunately, he shot wide.
PHEW! A french connection as Bryan Mbuembo shoots wide with just his compatriot, Mbuembo to beat
Totally agree, Dave.
BUGGER! Jose sa its down injured at Anfield. Not what we wanted rio see
We need a Leeds goal too. That would provide more comfort.
Leeds fans looking nervous.
Villa nearly went two up. Last ditch tackle by John Stones on Olly Watkins
A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time at Etihad and Anfield.. A quintet at Turf Moor
Only as pair at Brentford
Brentford have a free kick and then the whistle will go. Come on!
BUGGER! St.Max has shot saved with just Pope to beat on the break
It's 0-0 at the half at Brentford. So far so good
HT at Brentford....Leeds above the line.... at halftime
Will City do a comeback as they did last week
VDB scores his first goal for the Toffees. Gunners now lead 2-1
We could use a Citeh comeback for sure
The half-time whistle goes and we're still alive. We looked quite good up until the Newcastle goal and Joffy's goal was ruled out. Then the news obviously got to the players and they're looking nervy and tight now. 0-0.
Villa one up at the half
Why sir much stoppage time at Anfield. Finally. It's 1-1 at the half at Anfield
Toon one up at the half
That offside was so pathetic!!
What about the kick of the ball...offside can never be that close on one end of the rule when you don't know about the other
Will City come out all guns ablazin?
Such a shame about Everton winning...they would be in trouble!
