Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Michael Sheen's Welsh Locket Room Speech

Hello chaps. I wouldn't want you to miss this excellent uplifting speech from Michael Sheen that will undoubtedly be reprised in Qatar. But it got me wondering, who would you ask to give a speech to the English locker room in Qatar that would be as rousing? And who would you tap to give the speech to the Americans? In the meantime, enjoy.

Agree. I thought it interesting that he's been doing it as a party-piece for a few years.

Who's your pick to give a rousing speech for England? Or the USA?

I saw some of Leslie Jone's Olympic commentary and she was great. She might be my pick for the US. Rog Bennett or Jason Sudekis too.

Fantastic! Sorry it took me a few days to respond. Of course, James Corden would be the obvious choice to give the speech for England. He's a footie fan and a cheerleader in the same way that Jimmy Fallon is on late night. If you're looking for someone with more acting chops, maybe Idris Elbe or Clive Owen might have the gravitas.

On the American side, I was very impressed by a recent appearance on Colbert by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McIlhenny promoting their new FX series "We are Wrexham." Also, you can't forget Matthew McConnaughey, who's got interest in MLS. Alright, alright, alright!
