Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Another Big Sunday Morning!

Morning, boys - it's another big day for the Dahlgren brothers' teams. First up this morning is my beloved Leeds United. Under Javi Gracia, we've begun to have the winning habit, with three wins in his first six matches as boss. We'll hope to see that continue this morning, as we play host to another relegation rival in Crystal Palace at the sacred Elland Road ground. We'll start the day in 16th but will hope to bounce back up to 12th again.

Later on, league leaders Arsenal take on Liverpool in another must-win match for them after Citeh's demolition of Southampton yesterday.

Morning, Steve - I’m on my phone as my laptop is banjaxxed this morning. Trying to log into my Blue Devil profile.

Another close one for Leeds. I like this but would like it more if they went in.

Very bright start for the Whites!

Isn't that annoying when that happens? But your boys look good here so far. Lord Bam with a hopeful crack after spotting the sub keeper off his line. I'm a bit bored with those unless they go in. And they often do not.

Oh - two chances for Sini in quick succession.

All these chances. Your running things at the moment.

How’s your weekend going? Do you get Easter Monday off?

9:15 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

So how are the M&Ms celebrating Easter? Not with chocs yet probably. Maybe next year.

9:17 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

No. We get Federal Holidays but not religious ones. For such a deep Irish background it's a scandal that we don't get Good Friday off.

I hope we don’t rue these missed chances.

Good Morning! WAY HAY! LORD BAMFORD HEADS IN A CORNER FOR A LEEDS LEAD

9:22 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Perfect timing . Just walked in from walkies. Congratulations, Bob

9:23 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

What a goal. I loved the flight of the ball of Lord Bam's noggin. Leeds is well worth that lead.

9:23 AM

Good Morning, Bob and Steve

Yes, Patrick, you beauty! It’s Lord Bamford’s 50th goal for the club!

Whew. There are a few moments gone that you won't want back.

Oh, dear - free header off the post. A teal letoff.

Next is the match from Anfield on the COCK. Hoping the Gunners thrash the Reds in front of the KOP.

Marc Guehy fouls Junior Firpo just outside the Palace box

9:29 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

You'd love to see Brendan do something special with this free kick wouldn't you? Ah, it's Jack nearly sneaking it in at the back post

9:30 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Sam Johnstone turns around a free kick from Jack Harrison

9:30 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Then a free header from Koch straight to Sam Johnstone

9:31 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed , Steve, as long as it's Aaronson, not Rodgers

9:31 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Johnson was a Man Utd kid, right? Don't remember him at all.

Steve, you must be thinking about the late match on the COCK. First match on the COCK where you can click for live statistics. Like Citeh and the Spain National Team, I'll constantly pass

9:33 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Very much on my mind.

9:34 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Yes he was. I think other than pre season friendlies, he never played for the first team. Also I think he went on loan to PNE. I'll check FOTMOB

9:35 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I'll be rooting for the Gunners to thrash the Reds in front of the KOP

9:35 AM

Another free header! We must tighten up on set pieces.

9:36 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Koch's not been within a mile of his man on these corners. He needs shouting at.

9:36 AM

Morning, David!

9:36 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Just checked Johnstone. Never played a first team match for United, but was loaned to numerous clubs. Most notable loans were PNE and a season and a half on loan any Villa when they were in the Championship

9:37 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Eze is a bit pint-sized but he's too classy to be at Palace too much longer.

9:38 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Good Morning, Bob. Happy Easter

9:38 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed about Koch, but he's been inconsistent throughout his Leeds career. Also, spent on about Eze does it!

9:38 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I wonder if M&M have learned what Blow Up Ref means? Bob must be shouting that

9:40 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Eze is young enough that some weight training in the off season might help. He keeps getting eased off the ball far too easily. He's small but very eye-catching.

9:41 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Free kick from Aaronson well saved off a well Strujched header

9:41 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree about Eze and would give a similar description to Mike Olise.

9:42 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

What's the deal? Now Paddy Stuick gets on the end of a cross into the box and nearly scores. But defending a set piece, it's Dad's Army "Don't Paniccccccccc!!!!!" all match.

9:43 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Junior Firpo booked for a foul on Mike Olise

9:45 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Free kick from Mike Olise straight to Meslier

9:46 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I don't rate Olise. He's very standard. It would't surprise me to see him drop down a division or piss off to Belgium to continue his career. And he's also a bit of a short-arse. Look at that pedestrian effort, just there. No quality, straight at the keeper from a set-piece.

9:46 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Eze does it as Marc Rocca is called fora foul. A minute of stoppage time

9:47 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

FFS!

9:47 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

BUGGER! GUEYE TIES IT UP FROM THE FREE KICK. HEADED ON THEN GUYE DIVERTED IT IN. WAS HE OFFSIDE? VAR CHECKING

9:47 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Looks like he was kept on.

9:48 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Bugger it stands. Really sorry, Bob

9:48 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's 1-1 at the half. All to play for in the second half

9:49 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Bugger! Palace get a cheap one to level things up right on the stroke of half time. Grrr!

9:51 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Alright. All to play for in the second half. Stop giving Palace free kicks in your half because that's all they've got to offer.

9:54 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

The latest Harry Pearson column in WSC was remarking on watching young kids playing and seeing their corner taker raise his arm before taking corners and realizing it wasn't to indicate anything about where he was planning to put the ball.

But funnier still was the goal-scorers goal celebration, pointing two fingers at the sky, with his family including his grandparents both alive and well cheering on the touch line that he'd just scored.

10:00 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The second d half is underway.

COME ON LEEDS! MOT!

10:05 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed about Palace, Steve. If Leeds correct that then they should win unless Sam Johnstone has a blinder debut. I'm sure Harvey Grace stated that at the half

10:06 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

LOL! Good to know howe meaningless some of these things are

10:07 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Meslier down after colliding with Jeff Schlupp then down on a cross he should have caught

10:21 AM

A bit disappointed to see Aaronson's craft depart, but Gnonto and Rodders on is positive. Get-in Leeds. MO-bloody T!

Bloody Hell. Sorry Bob. This is a sad set-back that I didn't see coming.

10:30 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Really Sorry, Bob. This one is done and dusted.

10:30 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It came off a spell of Leeds pressure and a break lead by Mike olive, who found Odd son Eddie, who scored past Meslier

10:31 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Mike Olise with a hat-trick of assists. A shame we're not saying that about Jack.

10:34 AM

BLOODY HELL! JORDAN AYEW MAKES IT 1-5! SORRY, BOB.

10:37 AM

How is that not offside?

10:37 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Shot from Will Hughes came off a Leeds player and Ayew scored with just Meslier to beat. Kristensen kept him onside. VAR checking, but it should stand

10:38 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Sorry mate. I don't want to watch any more of this. Cheerio and here's to better days in the future.
