Morning, chaps - first up is City v. Liverpool. A rivalry that in recent years has defined the title race takes on a different flavor this season. Manchester City are still going for the big prize, and are desperate for three points that would keep them on Arsenal’s shoulder. Liverpool’s need for a win is no less great, although this time round their gimlet eye is trained on the comparatively modest achievement of fourth spot.
The team news:
Manchester City: Ederson, Stones, Akanji, Dias, Ake, Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Grealish, Alvarez.
Subs: Ortega, Walker, Phillips, Laporte, Bernardo, Gomez, Perrone, Palmer, Lewis.
Liverpool: Alisson, Robertson, Van Dijk, Konate, Alexander-Arnold, Elliott, Henderson, Fabinho, Gakpo, Jota, Salah.
Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Milner, Firmino, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tsimikas, Nunez, Arthur, Matip.
Half-time: 1-1. Arsenal fans will be the happiest.
I’m on my phone in the second half as I’ve been struggling with my ancient laptop.
GOAL! An incisive Citeh move ends withKDB yapping home. Citeh 2-1 up at the beginning of the second half.
Gundogan adds a third and Citeh are home and hosed.
Good morning Bob. I won't be on the computer today because our mouse bit the dust. Steve will not be pleased about this Citeh lead.
Jack the Lad adds #4 and this is starting to get embarrassing for Liverpool.
Morning, David - I'm trying out the laptop again. Hope you've had a good week.
Next up is the Dahlgren Derby on USA. Pretty obvious what Javi Gracia is up to, with a defensive side with no strikers. Playing for a draw.
I'm back after some diaper duty - the pattern of play has been established. We're going to try to keep possession and choke the life out of the match.
In the other matches going on right now, we'll need a draw between Forest and Wolves, another one between Palace and Leicester, and a Fulham win away to Bournemouth.
Oh - it opened up for Summerville there but his shot is straight at Ramsdale.
Oh - now it's Jack Harrison through on goal but he can't beat Ramsdale with his shot.
After all of that good work, Ayling gives away a penalty.
Jesus converts the penalty and we're 1-0 down. His first goal in yonks for the Gunners. Very much against the run of play.
Brighton and Brentford are having a right old ding dong at the Amex. 2-2 there.
Oh - Meslier went walkabout there and when the ball came back, Ayling had to clear it off the line.
Forest have taken the lead against Wolves through Johnson. Not good for us.
Robin Koch picks up a yellow for a professional foul on Martinelli.
Three minutes of stoppage time to come now.
Half-time: We go in a goal down after a bright start. It'll be a hard road back for us to nick a draw today.
Two up. Ben White comes back to haunt his old mates. Congrats, Steve. Sorry, Bob.
Cherries 🍒 tie it up vs the Cottagers. Sorry, mate.
Bees now lead 2-3 in that wild one at the AMEX.
Gunners three up. Jesus at the double. Congratulations, Steve.Sorry, Bob
I'm back tidying up and we're 3-0 down. Goals from our old pal Ben White and new boy Trossard.
Ricardo gives the Foxes the lead at Selhurst Park.
Welcome back. I listed the updates. Not good news.
Leeds need to tidy up at the back
Palace ties it up vs the Foxes. That's decent news.
Aaronson and Sini making way for McKennie and Rodders.
As it stands, Forest are picking up three points on us, while Bournemouth, Leicester and Palace are picking up a point on us. Not a good day.
Koch being withdrawn in order to avoid picking up a second yellow - Coop on for him. Rutter also on for Summerville.
We could really use a Fulham goal right about now.
Nope - instead it's Bournemouth who take the lead. So, they're picking up three points on us at present. Not good.
As things stand, we're back down to 17th. West Ham ominously have two matches in hand on us.
Xhaka makes it 4-1. (sigh)...
So Arsenal have matched Citeh's efforts today.
3-3 now at the Amex - what a match!
That's it - the predictable heavy defeat away to a team that will likely win the title this season. It leaves us in 17th now, on 26 points from 28 matches. More important matches to come.
