Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 38 Update

Happy Memorial Day, everyone! I'm checking in after yesterday's culminating round of matches in the Premier League to take stock of our PPP game. In the end the dye had been set weeks before, as the top five clubs ended up the same, albeit with ManYoo and Newcastle switches 3rd and 4th places on the last day, benefiting Bee's Knees, Red Dragon and West Ham Rising by one point. Below them, Brighton joined Liverpool in the Europa League spots and Villa claimed the Conference League spot that no one really wants. In the drop zone, the bottom three going into the last day - Leicester, Leeds and Soton were all relegated in that order, with my beloved Leeds United going out with a whimper 1-4 to Spurs.

Harry Kane scored two on the last day in what might well be his last match for Spurs to notch his best ever career total of 30 Prem goals, but it wasn't enough to top Erling Haaland, who was the run-away winner of the Golden Boot with a whopping 36 goals. His mate KDB obviously took the Most Assist prize with 16. And David De Gea earned another clean sheet on the last day for an impressive 17 clean sheets in 38 matches this season.

In Europe, Barcelona and Napoli ran away with their respective leagues, but Bayern pipped Dortmund on the last day on goal difference to take the Bundesliga title (again!). That gave most of us two points more this week but robbed our Dortmund fan AZ Kicker of two vital points.

So what's left. The Europa League Final between Sevilla and Roma this Wednesday (5/31) is followed by the FA Cup final between the two Manchester clubs next Saturday, with a lot riding on it, including either a domestic cup double for United or a treble for City. That's followed by the Europa Conference League final the following Wednesday (6/7), and finally the biggie, The Champions League final on Saturday, June 10. I'll also be adding in points for the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards.

So, with just a few matches and awards to go, Red Dragon has a two point lead at the top. Here are the full standings:

1. Red Dragon - 40 points

2. Bee's Knees - 38 pts

3. Man Utd Rules - 37 pts

4. Blue Devil - 36 pts

-  Teddy Goalesevelt - 36 pts

-  United We Stand - 36 pts

7. West Ham Rising - 33 pts

8. Red Devil 1FCK - 30 pts

9. oticoN - 29 pts

10. Gooner71 - 28 pts

11. Swansong - 24 pts

12. MOT the Hoople - 15 pts

13. Someone Said - 14 pts

14. AZ Kicker 2 pts
