A New Era Begins!
Welcome back, boys! It's been a very quiet summer here on the LOB but best believe that with the return of the Championship this weekend, this blog will kick back into high gear. Having watched some of our rivals, my beloved Leeds boys kick off the Farke Era with a home match against our old foes Cardiff City this morning. It's been a frustrating summer with a long wait for the SF 49ers to take over the club and to appoint our new manager. Many of us our nervous about the thin nature of the squad, with only 16 fit players available for this opener. However, a new season always brings new hope. So, come on, you Whites - let's go! #MOT!

Morning, chaps - I've just settled the twins and am settling in to watch my boys. The Leicester v. Coventry match is winding down, with the Foxes, the early favorites for the title, seeing out a 2-1 win thanks to a late strike from Dewsbury Hall.
Daniel Farke's first line-up:
Meslier, Ayling, Struijk, Coop, Hjelde, Ampadu, Gray, Sini, James, Summerville, Gnonto.
Elland Road is in full voice and we're nearly ready for kickoff. Come on, you Whites!
Good morning Chaps! Best of luck and hope to see Leeds in the Prem next year.
Sorry, tried to turn off the captions and couldn't get ESPNplus back. Had to start all over again.
I hadn't heard that your lot picked up Ampudu. He's an eye-catching talent so that's a bit of good business.
That deserved a goal. Ayling's first time header well placed in the run by Gnonto who just flashed it wide. Very well worked and deserved to go in.
Ah no. Calamatous defending didn't clear the buildup and Cardiff leads after a promising Leeds start. MOT!
Curses! The first goal of the season at Elland Road goes to Cardiff, who have sat back the entire match and hit us on the break. 0-1 Bluebirds.
Morning, mate - happy to have you join me here today. Not so happy about the scoreline. We've dominated possession but, like a lot of matches last season, we've allowed them to score on the break. Three of the four in the backline are veterans of last season where we had the worst defensive record in the four divisions.
You're right that the Ampadu buy is positive - and I'm happy to see Karl Darlow as well. But two buys in an entire summer is thin gruel.
Still plenty of time to turn this one around, which Leicester did earlier this morning.
Bloody hell! Another feeble defensive response and Cardiff are very undeservingly 2-0 up.
0-2 - from bad to worse.
Just back from our 3 mile walk...listened on TS2
Sorry mate
Big second half coming up
I heard earlier that the Gray is Frankie's GRANDSON!!
Boy we are old
Bob, Kathy meant to pack you some peach coffee cake for you. She apologizes for forgetting
Did you eat a crumpet?
Why did he go down.....SHOOT
Good Morning everyone. Back from walkies. Really sorry, Bob.
There Are seven players that played for Leeds in the Premiership plus Ampadu could probably play in the Prem. Why is Leeds trailing a journeyman side?
Sam Byram on for Hjelde for his second spell debut for Leeds. Second half underway
GOAL ! MINI COOPER DRIVES IN A CORNER WITH HIS HEAD. GAME OIN 1-2!
Congrats, Bob and Leeds move out of the drop zone with that goal
Sadly Mini Cooper seems too have had a mechanical failure during a collision in scoring the goal. Charlie Cresswell warming up.
Morning, boys - great to have you on board for what I'm hoping will be a second half rescue mission.
OH! Willy gets a pass from Dan James , goes past three Cardiff defenders then off the keepers feet and off the top of the net. Two consecutive corners
Welcome back. Did you see the goal. Mini Cooper scored, but got injured in the act of scoring
Dave, please thank Kathy for all the delicious goodies that she packed for us. We had some cookies for a late night snack last night. And then crumpets with strawberries this morning (no clotted cream available sadly).
Liam Cooper has come off with a knock after that captain's effort. Academy youngster Charlie Cresswell on for him. So we now have four academy kids on the pitch (Cresswell, Hjelde, Gray and Summerville).
Glad to hear!
I am off for errands
Best of luck for the rest of the match and fun at the picnic
I was just coming back into the room from putting the twins down for their nap when the goal went in. Lovely jubbly!
Cheers, mate - will do!
Our Internet just went out due to a storm. Will be back if it comes back. Can't watch the match.
How's your weekend been, David?
It'ds been a fairly good weekend. How about yours?
Sorry to hear that - we're due for some storm activity tomorrow.
Sam Byram has come on - that's five academy kids then.
The Internet its back up.
Another good attack goes to waste there - poor final ball. I'd like to see Joffy on soon, possibly for Sini, who's looked leggy today.
Well done, mate!
Just letting you know my reason for missing the first half is that I was attempting to help an elderly lady look for her elderly dog that ran away, but without success.
Thanks, mate. That's quick for our Internet company. Must have Leeds supporter in the company
Alinwick does well to turn around a shot from Dan James. A scramble in the box off the corner then shot over by Sam Byram
I can't believe the chances keep going begging this half.
Dan James has a goal disallowed for offside
Good Morning, Steve. Howe have you been? Are you watching the Charity Shield?
I know, mate - there's another one. James tucks in but it's flagged offside.
Cardiff have done nothing this half, and barely anything in the first half. Three chances and they finished two of them.
Sad to say the U.S. Women's National team will not three peat. Eliminated by Sweden in the Round of Sixteen. Lost on Pens after a 0-0 draw.
Byram wins a free kick out wide left. Come on!
Cardiff have been practically camped in their box. and yet another Leeds corner
That is sad but not unexpected. They haven't looked good throughout.
Oh - Sini was in there. Good tackle from the defender.
I agree, mate. I saw the U.S. in the first match vs Vietnam and could tell they wouldn't do well and haven't watched since
Agreed. World class tackle from Ireland international, Calls O' Dowda
Gnonto goes down in the box now. He needs to stay on his feet, as this ref isn't giving us any gifts.
Just wide by Summerville in the Summer. Took a slight nick for a corner
Now Cry Summerville nearly finds the corner.
Sad to say that was a horrible attempt by Willy to win penalty, but sadly every team does that nowadays.
Aaron Ramsey comes off. He hasn't done much today.
Ten minutes left to rescue this one.
Aaron created the chance that lead to Cardiff's second. Yeah David. Waiting for my main event today.
Joffy and Poveda on for James and Gnonto now. Come on!
That's a fair point, mate. Luke Ayling dived in on him and was roasted.
I would have had Sini off - he's looked really poor today.
Ampadu down now - that would be a terrible end to a terrible day for us, as he's been a bright spark.
Effin' heck!!! A weekly test of the Emergency and disaster reporting now? I've been kicked out
Switched over to the Charadee Shield that I thought started at 11:30. Good luck salvaging a point Bob.
Hello Steve. Sorry you haven't been able to watch the match. Ramsey is a player who could have done a good job for Leeds
Predictably , Citeh with 80% possession, but with only two shots. Sounds like they're just passing it about
Either ahead on expected goals by 0.04 to 0.00. That reinforces my previous statement
Into half a dozen stoppage time minutes.
Into stoppage time now, piling on the pressure.
Sonny Perkins on now, yet another Academy product.
United currently playing Bilbao in a friendly, also on Plus
WAY HAY! DESMOND ! SUMMERVILLE IN THE SUMMER
Yes! Cry Summerville rescues a point!
Totally deserved because one team wanted to play and one wanted to pitch a tent in their box?
Nice finish off a blocked shot from Willy
Two dropped points, but proof that Farke's halftime talk worked and that the players are playing for him. A good sign
It finishes Desmond. Two dropped points, but read my comment at 11:31
I'm switching to the Charity Shield
That’s it! We’ve come back from two goals down. Still not good enough. 49 points to get in 45 matches for safety.
Just got home
Congrats for a good comeback...should have a been a win!
Welcome back. It was quite a second half. It was as if Cardiff pitched a tent in their own box.
