Yes, the cheaters have to be knocked out immediately. I've still got the love for Brazil but I'd like to see a bit of bloody Jogo Bonito. Where's Cantona!?

Let's have a great open game

Just heard on Five Live that this ref is the one that gave the Italians the last minute penalty.
Five Live hasn't cut off yet.
Do they not care anymore because of England

ooh, that was pretty iffy defending.

3:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Ronaldinho has done notthing this world cup. He has been ALMOST as bad as Lamps

3:07 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Five Live just said that Ronaldinho hasn't scored for Brazil in over a year. The longest time a #10 for Brazil hasn't scored.

3:12 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What a rubbish game, this is. None of this lot is good enough to clean Crouchie's boots!

3:21 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Does TH know the offside rule

3:23 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What???!!! Harkesy just said that Roon was a "disgrace." You're bloody kidding me. Harkesy needs to get his eyes checked. That was complete bollocks.

3:39 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Don't you think that it is a quicker game than this afternoon?

3:42 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

No, I think it looks like a bit of a kickabout in the park with no end goal in mind. Honestly, how many chances have there been? Zero. The goalkeepers haven't been worked at all. No shots on goal to speak of.

Tell me one player out there right now who has the skill to clean Crouchie's boots? Come on!

3:44 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

THE CROSSING HAS BEEN ATROCIOUS IN THIS TOURNAMENT!!!

3:45 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I think they are going forward.
Five Live is agreeing with you about not many chances but that is only because of the final ball.
I think both teams have been more positive than either team earlier

3:46 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I don't get that, AZ. Is it merely because of reputation that people keep praising players like Ronaldinho and Zidane. Let's be honest, Ronaldinho has been atrocious in this tournament. And Zidane had fifteen good minutes in the last game.

Brazil under Parreira is a complete bore. This is just running about in circles with no end in sight. And Henry is miles offside everytime.

3:47 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Great moves by ZZ
Yellow card

3:48 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am on AZ's side and not GB

3:50 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Disagree, both sides this morning had many more chances in both halfs, even before it opened up in the extra time period. There were several shots on goal by Rooney, Lamps and Beckham for England and Maniche, Figo and Petit for Portugal.

Beyond that, there were clear chances for Lamps in both halves, even before all of the chances that Hargreaves set up in extra time. You're dreaming if you think this is any way near as good. I know I'm gutted by the earlier result, but I haven't been blinded.

Should've been a red card there. That would have livened it up.

3:51 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Didn't you think that there were clear chances for England to score in both halves? Name one chance as good in this game?

3:51 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Rubbish first half. I want that forty-five minutes back. This is nearly as bad as Switzerland-Ukraine.

3:52 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree that England had some good chances but I think this game is being played at a higher pace . They are going forward with intent.
FIVE LIVE is agreeeing with me. Take a listen.

3:53 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Can you believe all of these ignorant comments from Harkes and Wynalda about Rooney? Waldo just called him a "thug." WTF? Did either of you think he deserved to go off for that? I thought it was just clumsy, there was no intent there.

3:59 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

AZ: I agree with you about Rooney being isolated up front. I would have loved to have seen what Rooney could have done with a partner - either Owen or Crouch - alongside him.

But, you know what, these two teams are doing THE EXACT SAME THING! They're both playing with one guy up front - Henry and Ronaldo and they both have been languishing for lack of service and haven't even had the chances that Rooney had to stick away.

I'd agree with you about England if Lamps, Lennon and Cole hadn't had clear chances to score. If any of those chances had gone in, none of would be talking about tactics. We'd be thinking about the semis with Brazil or France.

4:02 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I just had a listen to Five Live. As usual it's Alan Green - the big Irish git - talking balls.

4:03 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

i don't know... he is a thug so I think it is in him.
It was stupid. If it was for the shove on CR then it was a joke

4:03 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Second half starting...

Okay, I'll tell you how this is gonna go. It'll finish 0-0 after extra time without a shot on goal. Then Brazil will win on penalties with Henry missing one.

There, I've saved you an hour of your lives!

4:09 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Harkes: "Henry is so dangerous when he runs at the heart of the defense."

What a numpty! Henry isn't dangerous when he plays for France precisely because he doesn't run at the heart of defense. He drifts wide, runs down the side and clips a useless ball in that's easily cut out by the first defender. And even if the ball had been better, there's no one in the middle to finish because he's the lone striker!

I'm losing the will to live here.

4:13 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Speaking of MLS, the Revs and Red Bulls are playing at 6 on the Deuce. Now there's some real footie action!

4:14 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Just how many of the French were offside there? Two? Three? I'm beginning to think you're right, Dave. Henry doesn't really understand the rule.

4:16 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

France are bar far the best side

4:17 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh, you know me. I always watch. I'm a masochist! You have to be when you're a Leeds supporter.

4:17 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Agree with you, Dave. But both sides should be disqualified for being a complete waste of time. Bring back the Socceroos!

4:17 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

GOA!!!
HENRY

4:19 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Several French players in an offside position - not impeding play?

4:19 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Now we'll see if Brazil really has something to show!

4:20 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Do you think the Brazilians have ever heard of TH? I mean he is one of the best strikers in the world!!! There was not anyone near him!!!
By the way, I will deny my second sentence if Steve D. ever hears about it

4:20 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

That's because they were all tangled up with the three French players in offside positions - not impeding play, I repeat?

4:24 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ooh that was close

4:24 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

From the Football 365 site:

Shots on Goal:

Brazil - 0

France - 1

I rest my case.

4:26 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Great run by Ribery

4:27 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I think this is pretty exciting

4:28 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You're easily entertained. I've got a load of books on educational theory if this gets you going.

Now, Dave, Cristiano Ronaldo. He can't honestly think that he's just going to go back to United after today's disgraceful antics and all will be forgiven, does he? They should sell him immediately, even if it's for 50p and a packet of crisps.

4:31 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

That wasn't a dive by Big Ron, it was a squat!

4:32 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Great DIVE!!
Great pass from TH almost there

4:32 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Aren't you sick of the Zizou worship on ESPN. Honestly!

4:33 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You're just ignoring me now, aren't you Dave? Cristiano Ronaldo - he's a dead man, right?

4:34 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

France are all over them.

CR is off to RM

4:34 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am listening to Five Live.
They think he is playing pretty well.

4:35 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Good riddance. I remember when Alpay was involved in the brawling in the tunnel against England and then went back to Villa and they told him to pack his bags! That's the treatment that Skippy should get.

4:35 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

brazil are bringing on a right back!!!!

4:38 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am afraid that Rooney is going to get the Beckham treatment.
Ribery off? Shame.

4:39 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Nah, I don't believe it. English fans will know that Carvalho was just having the ref on. Here's the question for Chelski fans. Can you really support a team that has a bunch of cheating Portuguese throughout like Maniche, Paolo Ferreira, and Carvalho? And coached by a Portuguese. And what treatment will Frank Lampard get in the Prem after his dismal performances? Hard to say, but Roon won't get booed like Becks.

4:41 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Ribery's coming off. Thank goodness. The cat can come back out of hiding now. He's frightening!

4:41 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Cicinho's only a right back in name alone - more like a winger.

4:42 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Becks didn't do much to be sent off, did he?

4:44 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yes, but it was more of a clearly intentional retaliation the way that he flicked his boot up at Simeone. Of course Simeone went down as if poleaxed the way that cheaters do. But do you really think that Rooney was retaliating there? I just didn't see that. The two players were tangled up and Carvalho collapsed looking for a call and got stepped on and made a meal of it. Notice he never went off for treatment, did he?

4:46 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

You don't have to tell me that.
Taking TH off, is that the right move?
Penalties?

4:48 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

A question for you - if Henry had put his shot over, would the announcers be praising France now? It's shocking how fickle footie is.

4:48 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Well, if English fans agree that the ref was conned by cheating, why would they take it out on Roon? They didn't boo John Terry after the disallowed goal against Portugal in 2004, did they?

4:49 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

don't you agree that France has deserved this. You're the one complaining having shots. Brazil haven't had one on target.

4:49 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

that was a dive again

4:50 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Sure, TH misses the occasional penalty. I wouldn't have him take one if it went to it, but it doesn't look like this one is going to go all the way. France should be able to hold out now - Brazil are really poor.

4:50 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

they should ban them after teh game and give him a yellow and take away the yellow for France.

4:51 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yes, I agree. France have been better. But I think it's a matter of Brazil being poor rather than France being good. I reckon England could have taken Brazil on this form.

4:51 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Boy, Bartez didn't move.
Very close would have been very undeserved.

4:51 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Total dive by Ronaldo, disgraceful. I agree. FIFA should look at these after the match and give out retroactive suspensions.

4:52 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

England were POOR as well.

4:52 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

nice shot by Saha

4:52 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

end to end stuff

4:53 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Good save there from Fabien.

4:53 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

another close one

4:53 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Ronaldinho's not smiling anymore, is he?

4:54 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That is a good and well named disease

4:54 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Glad to see the end of Brazil.
I don't believe i am about to say this but.
COME ON Germany

4:56 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wow, Brazil were really poor today. Really poor. The French will get a lot of praise for that performance, but I'm not sure how good they are beyond a well organized midfield and defense. Not much going forward beyond Ribery.

Germany vs. Italy

France vs. Portugal

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

4:57 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

See you on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Sad sad day today.

4:58 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I can't really say at this point. They're all really boring sides. I can't believe Argentina, Holland, Spain, and England are all out. Something's wrong with the way the games are organized to have all the good teams knocked out so early.
