Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

WHERE IS EVERYONE?
I am so nervous.
Ronaldo is playing. I have no worries. Gary N. will handle him. He does it everyday in training.
I do have to buddies coming for the game. They have both promised me that they will be backing England
Make your mind up, Davey! I've been posting on the other one. What do you make of the England side today?
I will do Bob's job.
Teams.
ENGLAND
ROBINSON
NEVILLE
COLE
TERRY
FERDINAND
COLE
LAMPARD
GERRARD
BECKHAM
HARGREAVES
ROONEY
portugal
ricardo
miguel
meira
carvalho
nuno valente
figo
maniche
petit
tiago
ronaldo
pauletta
I've already done that on the other thread, you plonker! What do you make of the England line-up? I don't care about those Portuguese crybaby cheaters!
I have just left a posting on the other one telling them to come here.
As for the England line up, as expected. I will be ok if Lampard and Gerrard gets forward and helps Roon.
Did you download the "Come On, England?" I'm listening to my Engerlund playlist right now. Vindaloo la la.....
Of course I did.
I have listened to Three Lions as well
Of course. Three Lions is champion:
I still see that tackle by Moore
And when Lineker scored
Bobby belting the ball
And Nobby dancing!
I am listening to FIve Live before it gets blackd out, they keep harking on Scolari vs Sven. Do you think it is a big deal?
Five Live says that Portugal have a defensive midfield on the pitch
I hope not. Nick and Steven were joking earlier in the week that if Portugal wins today, Scolari gets to keep Sven!
By the way, did you know that FIFA has decided that Brazil don't get to keep this cup because they lost the Jules Rimet one?
One in off Rooney's bum - that's all we need.
Just heard that Glenda Hoddle has resigned as Wolves manager.
I will take one off his bum and two more off his knee and ear respectively
Are you watching on ABC or Uni?
both.
I think ABC will be there for the anthems because remember the captains have to make a speech against racism
Terry Butcher just said England will win 2-0 with Roon scoring both.
I like the way Big Butch is thinking. Remember that match where he got a head wound and just couldn't stop bleeding? What match was that?
I am not sure.
Where are the rest of our lot????
I am right in saying that every member of the squad is available for subs, correct
ABC still on commercial as the teams come out
Beckham can read!!!!
ABC are behind Uni
I think you're right - all squad members can be used.
God Save our Queen....la la la la la
I'm sticking with ABC unless something goes wrong.
Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
C'mon England!!!! Stuff these Portuguese Wasters!!!!
Wankers, more like
Yeah.....Come on, England!
Crybabies more like.
Here we go, here we go, here we goooooo...
Three goals for england and no cards!!!!!!!
I am the Portugal---HATER!
We are
England already on the slow down!!
chance for Roon
I'm off to Uni already - 'Cello's making me sick.
Come on, Figo, get up, you wanker!
don't give the ball back to those cheats. ahhhhh. i wanted us to run with it.
come on becks... good delivery please
Oh, a better ball from Stevie and that would've been one-up. Decent start so far.
crouchy, get on that one at the back post. wait, just one striker. well, i hope sven's watching the completely crap ricardo's punchy moves.
you think that sven watched the lumbering goof, Luca Toni, last night and decided that Lamps might still come good in this tournament?
good shot from Roon
Nice effort, Roon!
Got to shut down Skippy.
to paraphrase the turnip, that Figo shouldn't even be on the pitch. look at him drop over. what a wanker.
WHAT IS WITH THAT DEFENDING!!!
That wasn't pretty at the back.
not liking the cheap giveaway of possession. somebody step on the ball for a moment and regroup.
Come on ref, start doling out some cards for the diving!
rooney, you're the best player on the pitch. stop laying the ball off and try to beat this dodgy keeper!!!!
Nicely worked throws, but let's make one count!
What a tackle, Stevie G.!
ref simply must make an example of one of these portuguese that want a card after every tackle. referee must step on them or i will loose my mind.
see, if that tackle isn't a free kick, it's got to be a yellow for skippy. get the card out ref and begin the blubbing skippy, you girl.
He is at least waving off a lot of dives, like the Skippy one a moment ago, but I agree. The yellows have to come out if he suspects diving.
A nasty clash of heads there. Lamps is down.
Terry got a card?
Out of the semis
no, i didn't see terry getting a card.
they are talking about it
from the beeb
28 mins: Former Chelsea team-mates John Terry and Tiago jump for a high ball and both come crashing to earth in the centre circle with a bang. Terry is booked for the challenge and will miss the semi-final if England go through.
did you see the ref give him a yellow? no mention of it at all on the Uni.
Come on ENGLAND
Neville keeps on letting Skippy do him. Doesn't he scrimmage with him like everyday? Honestly!
I didn't see a card!
wierd save from robbo. did he slip?
Robbo made a bit of a meal out of that save, clawing it out of the air. It was going wide!
C'MON ENGLAND!!!!
chance for Becks!!!!!!!!
Lamps got one on target! Hurrah!
finally a shot. and look at ricardo bobble it. got to get shots on goal.
not impressive
I'm actually reasonably happy with England so far. They've been patient with the build-up and haven't resorted to too many long balls. Rooney is a bit stranded, but when we work the ball around wide, we look good and dangerous. If Lamps had finished off that juicy ball from Stevie G. we'd all be happy, right?
Not enough from England. Becks fairly anonymous, and rooney stranded without service from him, lamps, cole, or gerrard.
Rooney need to try to get free as well. His movement is pretty static.
I'm hoping that this was more or less the masterplan; don't give up a goal-check, bottle up the midfield-not accomplished, sneak one and lay off-not accomplished.
There's the card that Davey picked up for Terry and that's not good news. It means Sol or Carra in the center of defense next game.
Looking forward to changes in the second half. Would like to see a balls-out pressure to score from the kick-off from the midfielders. At the same time, get Crouch, Lennon, and Wolcott up and moving so that we can add a striker or in Lennon's case, a winger to get more forward.
C'MON ENGLAND!!!
I'm so tense, I can't believe it. I'm taking on water again. The B.O. factor is off the charts. Damn acrylic shirts!
Lennon!!!
for becks?
carragher or campbell for Wed night. Yes, I said Wed night
It's not Christian, it's Cristiano
Get the yellow card out for Skippy - Jesus!
SHOOT THE BALL!!!!!!!!!
COME ON LENNON!!!!!!!
Should've been a pen - definite handball. Hand to ball.
Becks is coming off for Lennon - a bit of a roll of the dice for Sven.
he should be replaced for sure. How?
BECKHAM IS HURT
What the hell is Becks crying for on the bench - injury?!
Becks must have a calf injury that he thinks will end this WC for him, whatever the result today. Bugger, but he's replaceable. He'll still be in the camp though, and that's where he's been effective except for one free kick and one cross.
christ!!!!!! finish for chrissakes!!!!
brilliant from lennon.
Useless from Roon and Cole.
Oh, how did they not score there! Great stuff from Lennon.
what a let off. don't they realize that valente is the best crosser of the ball they have? get tight on him.
I DO NOT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A RED CARD BECAUSE OF A PUSH ON RONALDO
and a kick in the groin
What a disgrace - Carvalho and Ronaldo should be banned by the FA for that. Shouldn't even let them in through Heathrow.
He is out of the tourney
what is the deal with formation
Is Rooney going to get flack for a year like Becks did?
There was no kick in the groin. It was just playacting from that Chelski bastard - and from Skippy as usual. They were out to wind up Roon. Big Phil said as much in the press this week.
i doubt it. the english love the roon. becks was and is always a figure who you have mixed feelings about. rooney's just a big stupid spud.
Good move to throw on Crouch now. Have him battle it out in the box with these mugs. Rattle the keeper a bit.
great run... crappy cross
i'd love to see the first training session at man utd if skippy doesn't get his move to real. what odds rooney lamping him out cold?
and i agree bob, carvalho's a known cheat from his porto days. he'll be getting death threats for that.
I have put my england shirt.
Stevie should have done better
Come on, finish off these cheats!
okay, for the last flippin' time, unless the 2010 world cup is played in December, S.Africa is in the southern hemisphere and in june, july, IT'S THEIR WINTER!!!!
if i hear one more moron say that these players will have to get used to the heat of S. Africa, I'm going to loose it completely.
South Africa Climate and Weather | South Africa Climatic Conditions: Climatic conditions generally range from Mediterranean in the southwestern corner of the country to temperate in the interior plateau, and subtropical in the northeast. A small area in the northwest has a desert climate. Most of the country has warm, sunny days and cool nights. Rainfall generally occurs during summer (November through March), although in the southwest, around Cape Town, rainfall occurs in winter (from June through August). Temperatures are influenced by variations in elevation, terrain, and ocean currents more than latitude.
Temperature and rainfall patterns vary in response to the movement of a high pressure belt that circles the globe between 25 and 30 south latitude during the winter and low-pressure systems that occur during summer. There is very little difference in average temperatures from south to north, however, in part because the inland plateau rises slightly in the northeast. For example, the average annual temperature in Cape Town is 17C, and in Pretoria, 17.5C, although these cities are separated by almost ten degrees of latitude. Maximum temperatures often exceed 32C in the summer, and reach 38C in some areas of the far north. The country's highest recorded temperatures, close to 48C, have occurred in both the Northern Cape and Mpumalanga.
Frost occurs in high altitudes during the winter months. The coldest temperatures have been recorded about 250 kilometers northeast of Cape Town, where the average annual minimum temperature is -6.1 C. Record snowfalls (almost fifty centimeters) occurred in July 1994 in mountainous areas bordering Lesotho.
Climatic conditions vary noticeably between east and west, largely in response to the warm Agulhas ocean current, which sweeps southward along the Indian Ocean coastline in the east for several months of the year, and the cold Benguela current, which sweeps northward along the Atlantic Ocean coastline in the west. Air temperatures in Durban, on the Indian Ocean, average nearly 6 C warmer than temperatures at the same latitude on the Atlantic Ocean coast. The effects of these two currents can be seen even at the narrow peninsula of the Cape of Good Hope, where water temperatures average 4 C higher on the east side than on the west.
Rainfall varies considerably from west to east. In the northwest, annual rainfall often remains below 200 millimeters. Much of the eastern Highveld, in contrast, receives 500 millimeters to 900 millimeters of rainfall per year; occasionally, rainfall there exceeds 2,000 millimeters. A large area of the center of the country receives about 400 millimeters of rain, on average, and there are wide variations closer to the coast. The 400-millimeter "rainfall line" has been significant because land east of the rainfall line is generally suitable for growing crops, and land west of the rainfall line, only for livestock grazing or crop cultivation on irrigated land.
Love it Crouchie, tell it like it is. Portugal should be the team down a man or two. What a disgrace they are.
NO FINISHING!!!! c'mon ENGLAND!!!!
We'll take those all day long, Maniche. All day long!
Hargreaves is the only one running.
melanie's warming up the paddles for me, just in case.
We've got to go for it straight away here. We don't want penalties!
Hargreaves has been magnificent in the past ten minutes. Who knew he was a winger. Just a tap in from anyone on a couple of those chances.
Exactly right. God, why, why couldn't we have put a head on one of those corners or get a game finishing PK? Don't want to try to rope a dope these guys because they will start cheating even more than they already have. Balls to the wall, straight off.
What are the buddies saying, Dave? Have you barred them from the house yet?
IT HAS BEEN UNBEARABLE!!!
Five Live is no longer blacked out
It is a little ahead
Unbearable tension. I'm more shagged out than Rio.
I think the backline has been magnificent. You notice that Pauleta didn't have a sniff. It's all been long shots from them. Very tight.
Don't we have another sub? Would it help?
who could it be
carrick, or carragher? who else?
It was a fair tackle but i have seen it given
PHEW
great effort to save the ball from crouch. that cheat carvalho's seemed to recover. somebody kick him in the nuts again. rooney must have missed.
Crouch is doing great
great hands robbo
Come on, England. One last push! WE DON'T WANT PENALTIES!
what a motor hargreaves has. excellent man.
Jamie for lennon!!!!
getting a penalty taker on?
I can't watch these - I'm turning the telly off. Someone call me when this is over.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!
Hargreaves was the man of the match
Sorry I had to bail there, lads. I'd seen that show before - again and again. We never win in the penalties because we refuse to plan for them.
But the omens weren't good in the match, with the ref allowing the Portuguese to roll about, the ridiculous red card for Roon and the missed penalty call on Lennon.
Again we've gone out without being beaten. Something's got to be done structurally to stop the madness!
