Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

70s Telly Catchphrases

This is good fun. I recently came across a long list of catchphrases from classic British telly shows. Who said the following?:

1. Nice to see you - to see you nice!

2. Ooh, please yourselves!

3. I'm free!

4. You stupid boy.

5. Lovely Jubbly.

6. Boom Boom!

7. Well, I never....

8. Power to the people!

9. ...And it's goodnight from him.

10. He's from Barcelona.

11. How tickled I am.

12. I've started so I'll finish.

13. Oh, Miss Jones!

14. The play what I wrote.

15. Ying Tong Iddle I po.

16. It's make your mind up time.

17. Creamy, muck muck.

18. Exterminate! Exterminate!

Have a go lads!

Good effort, Gooner!

Spot on with #'s 1,2,3,6,8,9,10,15 and 18.

Not quite on #s 13,14 and 16.

I'm waiting for United and Trev to chip on this one too.

You may have another answer for 14, but that phrase is definitely in the Ann Elk sketch.

I believe that Anne Elk said, "The theory what I wrote....and is mine....ahem ahem...etc." whereas this is "The play what I wrote." Guess again.

Absolutely right on Leonard Rossiter, from Rising Damp. Also right on Hughie Green, from Opportunity Knocks.

And Frankie Howard was correct for #7, not #6. I thought you had him right at first. I thought "Boom Boom" would've been easy for you after your antics with Mom and Dad in Scotland.

Where are you, Davey boy?

Very, very good effort from you and Debs. One correction, though. Switch Frankie Howard and Larry Grayson - they're very similar performers, so that's difficult.

And Gooner got #16 - it's Hughie Green from Opportunity Knocks - said to the judges on that "talent show."

Well done, lads.
