Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Footie Trivia Question of the Week

With a spate of internationals coming up on Wednesday, here's a tricky one related to international matches:

"Which former Premiership player once came in as a substitute in an international match in order to replace his father?"

Go to it, lads.

Jordi Cruyff?

(Guessing maybe Johan made an appearance in a Durch friendly in the 90s a la his recent appearance at the Bergkamp testimonial)

That's the one - well done! Pretty cool story, eh? Going on for your own dad. I wish we could see the vid on that greeting at the touchline; must be pretty cool.

Oi, that one was for Trev! You're close but not quite there, United.

One for you - what two sides to form ManYoo?

That was a complete guess and was said tongue in cheek!!
As for my question, I don't know what you mean. First it is MAN UNITED!!!
Secondly, United were once called Newton Heath Lancashire Railroad.
In 1902, a sheep dog saved United. He got a new buyer to invest.(it is a long story) They decided to rename. One choice was Manchester Celtic. Another was Manchester Central. They then came up with Manchester United.

Spot on, Dave. It was, indeed, a trick question. Manchester United have never won....sorry, what I meant to say is that - rather than the typical name for two teams merging - United was something that was come up with on the fly. A bit like D.C. United.
