Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Fox Football Fone-in!~

Fox Football Friday is dead - long live Fox Football Fone-in! Yes, FSC finally announced their plans for the fall season. They've scrapped the Friday night show, but have retained Nick Geber and Steven Cohen from FFF for a new two-hour call-in show on Tuesday nights. It'll air from 8-10 p.m. and apparently will be filmed in a radio studio - perhaps the one used for World Soccer Daily? - instead of the fake pub set they had for the past season.

In more FSC news: the full implications of the Setanta deal are seen in the first weekend of programming. Setanta have first choice in every time slot apart from the Sunday 11 a.m. slot. That means for the first weekend that Setanta will be showing the Liverpool game at 7:30 a.m., the ManYoo game at 10 a.m. and the Arsenal game on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. These games won't be available on PPV or anywhere else but Setanta. The Chelsea game will be on live at 11 a.m. Sunday. That's likely to be the pattern for the season. So, those of you who support the big boys have two options - get the dish or start supporting Bolton!

Hurrah! FSC has announced that it will be showing the Community Shield on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Also, there are an "EPL Preview" on tonight. No idea what that's about as the EPL is still ten days away from starting but I'll be taping it nonetheless.

FSC has finally updated their schedule for the next week, and it looks pretty tasty. They're doing the U-21s tomorrow, with the full international friendly with Greece at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Don't forget to watch the lads on Fox Football Fone-in at 8-10 tomorrow night.

And the weekend - despite some big games on Setanta - is not half bad, with Newcastle vs. Wigan at 10 a.m. live, the tape delay of the new look Spurs against Bolton at noon and then a tape delayed Reading (smart move given the U.S. angle - I suspect there will be quite a few Reading matches on FSC). Then the big 'un on Sunday morning live - Chelsea vs. Citeh - at 11 a.m.

I'm all tingly with anticipation.

Nick Geber announced on yesterday's show that Fox Football Fone-in will actually begin next week so don't look for it tonight at 8 p.m. even though the schedule says it's on.

Nick and Steven have had a huge falling out this summer as Nick took six weeks off the radio show to do the "World Series of Poker" commentary for Sirius Radio, leaving Steven alone at the helm throughout the last half of the World Cup and the last month of the summer. It's still unclear what effect this will have on the Fox show, but they apparently had rehearsals for the show last night.

Sir Trev, I have a feeling that you may get your wish. It suits me too. I'm a bit sick of the big boys and am looking forward to seeing your Hammers, a new look Spurs and newly promoted Reading on the telly.
