Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Rooney Sees Red....Again!

Did any of you see this? Wayne Rooney, in his first match since being sent off against Portugal in the WC, saw red again on Friday in the Amsterdam Tournament. Again it was a Portuguese involved. I think it's harsh - he clearly leads with his elbow as he goes up for the ball and clocks the Porto player, but I reckon it's unintentional.

Take a look at the clip and judge it for yourself.

It's a very harsh red. He made some contact, he totally lead with his elbow, it was right in front of the ref, and it was a Portugeezer who by nationality can only be counted upon to make a whole fejtoda of it.

You ask yourself, why does Rooney keep doing this sort of thing. Is he completely thick? oh, right.

The problem seems to be that Ferg believes that Rooney is a kind of feral savant who's been raised by wolves in the wilds of 'Pool - think of Jodie Foster's Nell in Scouseland. Because of that he doesn't bother to try and tame his wild habits for fear that he'll forget how to trap a ball on his chest. I think it's a mad policy. Ferg has had several of these players on the books over the years and has had some success in reforming Alan Smith. As for Keano, well...you win some, you lose some....

I saw this. I am surprised that it took you so long to post it.
Can you believe it, sent off against the bloody Portugal twats.
Did you hear what Trevor Francis said on the commentary? Anyone else on the pitch would not have been sent off.
Fingers crossed that Rooney and Scholes don't get banned for the first game of the season. It is up to the FA

I don't understand why anyone gets banned for cards picked up in pre-season friendlies. Or are they considering the "Amsterdam Tournament" an actual competition these days?

BTW, the late posting was due to my just figuring out - with help from Gooner - how to post YouTube clips.

Davey,

On YouTube, there's an URL(the www thingy) and below it an Embed.

Copy the entire Embed, all the punctuations, noughts, crosses, all of it and then post it like you would post a photo.

Feral Savant! Very good. I'm liking that phrase a lot.
