Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

ManYoo Joins the Transfer Market...Finally!

With only days to go on the transfer window, things finally moved at Old Trafford today, with Michael Carrick joining the Red Devils for a still unyet undisclosed amount - some were predicting around 16 million - and Ruud joining Real for around 10.5 million. Strange that. How is a defensive midfielder worth more than a 20+ goal a year striker? You once remarked that you didn't rate Carrick, Dave. Still feel that way?

Yeah, you would, wouldn't you? I'm planning a regular Coke round-up spot on this blog, because I know you elitist lot won't deign to talk about Leeds.

Has Ferg lost the plot? I reckon so after the 15 million pound deal for Carrick and the sale of Ruud to Real. Madness, says a ManYoo fan on Football 365 today. Read why he's embarrassed to wear the new kit:

Now it looks as if you're gonna get Marcos Senna from Villareal. That's a good move; he really impressed me in the World Cup.

Carrick is probably going to be one of those quietly effective players for United that just doesn't have the class now or maybe ever to step up to the international level. I wonder about him in the CL but against Premiership clubs, he'll be a good addition.

I think the money is immaterial. He's probably worth about 8-9mil, but there's always a premium on top of a player's value when they're English, and always a bit extra extorted from money-bags Premiership clubs like United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

I think Carrick is a good buy even at that money because he just seems to get on with it and play. Davey-boy will warm up to him quickly I bet.
