Dunga named manager of Brazil
Remember this advocate of Jogo Bonito? He's just been named to take over from Pereira after Brazil's limp showing in the World Cup. As far as I can tell, this guy is the Piltdown Sam of Brazil, likely to usher in a regime of defensive cloggers of his ilk. Good news for Ze Roberto, Gilberto, and probably Emerson. Bad news for Junior Pernambucano, Diego, and anyone else who can actually play a bit.

I think Juninho P. has already called it quits. Must've read the writing on the wall. This is a bad, bad move. Has Dunga coached anywhere before? He's the worst possible choice for the Selecao.
You're thinking of Juninho Paulista, right? Junior Pernambucano is that bloke at Lyon. Or if that's not his name, that's the guy I'm thinking of. Dark days for him.
Dunga would only get my vote ahead of a combination of that half embalmed old Nazi Havelange and his thieving son-in-law Texiera. I'd stoop to take Socrates even if one of his conditions of taking the job was being allowed to build a bonfire on the sidelines to light his one-after-another-cigs. Hell, I'd take Pele ahead of Dunga even if El Rey insisted on being player manager in a number 10 shirt emblazoned with an advertisement for Cialis!
The list of candidates in Brazil must be pretty short these days.
Nope, Pernambucano announced his international retirement after the World Cup - he was older than I imagined - 32 or so. I reckon he's still got some time at Lyon though.
You know what, you're right. He is that old. What a waste that he's not featured more.
OK, Not J.P. But you gotta believe that Dunga's acendency has thrown a cold chill over that group of 22-25 year olds who play a bit of football that we would have liked to have seen play the kind of swaggering football you and both remember from '82. I think we're both hoping that this move results in the next 5 matches being 0-0 draws and the Men in Suits from Nike drawing up another plan.
Dunga? Hell, no!
Hey what a great site keep up the work its excellent.
