Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Once In A Lifetime -- Go See It

I just got back from seeing this film and I highly recommend it. There's game footage that you've not seen before, and a kind-hearted nostalga that's just lovely.

And do the former players have an axe to grind when it comes to Chinalgia? Yes, they do. And what does Giorgio think? Couldn't care less.

This was really fun. For those not on the biography film circuit, Netflix it now.

Glad that you posted on this, Gooner. It'll never get down to Jax, but I'll look forward to seeing it on Netflix in the New Year.

The thing that I like best about the clips I've seen is that they seem to have it out for Chinaglia. You may remember that the old man and I saw the Cosmos play some meaningless friendly at Giant's Stadium against the Greek national side in the summer of 1980. Just about every Greek restaurant had emptied out for the occasion, so the atmosphere was good but the footie was pretty dire and the Meadowlands is my least favorite venue in the world.

What's fun about Giorgio's contribution is that he has no problem playing the baddie. Guy after guy virtually call him a prick, and Giorgio just chuckles. There's this great moment when one of the management team refutes Giorgio's claim that he was running the show at the end. The suit says," that's preposterous! No way was Giorgio running things. Do you have any corroberation or justification for saying that? I was there and there's no...who?...he said...I dunno...I mean maybe??...." Then there's a cut to fat George and all he says is,"heh-heh-heh-heh-heh."

Quality. Just keep an eye out for it.

Davey, it's a bit scandalous for the lads. Tales of hookers and blow-jobs on the team plane, scenes from inside Studio 54, descriptions by Messing of helping groupies scratch an itch. You get the picture.
