Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Alan Mullery?
Spot on! Wow, you lads are brilliant. I thought I'd at least have to give up the clue that he used to play with Fulham. Well done!
Easier than you think because it was such a shock at the time. It was really deserved too as I think it was a retalitory roundhouse punch and not the typical Jack Charlton gertchya that would easily earn a red these days.
Did Mullery ever get another cap? I think that Sir Alf considered it such a disgrace, maybe not.
And by the time the next boss came in, Mullery was past it.

Here's what his Wikipedia bio says:
"Disaster and ignominy then struck Mullery in the semi-finals of the 1968 European Championships, as he lashed out in retaliation at some constant fouling from England's opponents from Yugoslavia and became the first player ever to be sent off in a full England international match. England lost the semi-final 1-0."
However, it goes on to say that Mullery continued to be picked by Sir Alf and was a fixture of the 1970 WC side, so apparently it wasn't an international career ending disgrace. Love to see the video on that punch, though. I'm sure it's a beaut.
Without even looking up top, I am going to give it a guess.
It would be Alan Mullery. I didn't not cheat.
I just looked, well done Stevo. You got it before me!!
Have you ever seen the video clip, Dave? I'd love to see it.
No, I haven't. How can I?
Surely it's on tape somewhere. It's only 1968. There was plenty of good coverage back then.
