Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

An Open Letter to Captain Birdseye

Dear Chairman Bates:

Enough is enough! When you took over the board at LUFC you told us to be patient and, for two years, we have been nothing but patient. You told us that we were in a rebuilding phase and to trust Kevin Blackwell – and then you sacked him. You told us that we could no longer merely accept that we were a big club, that we had to earn that position, and we accepted that. But enough is enough. Five years ago we watched in amazement as our club made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League. Five years later we’re second bottom of the Coke and being mullered regularly by the likes of Leicester, Stoke and Luton. Enough is enough. You owe those, like me, who have followed Leeds United for thirty years and more the obligation of telling us exactly what is going on in your head. What is the board’s plan for rescuing this season? Not another week should go by without an announcement by you and the board of a concrete plan for changing the course of the season. That should include an immediate move to appoint a new manager. And that manager should not be Dennis Wise. Enough is enough!

LUFC forever,

gatorbob

A start would be resisting a few offers for the players you have for the sake of paying down the tab that Ridsdale ran up. It's shocking to see that Hulce went to Sheffield Utd just so a year later he could be in the Coke again. Fine if he's going to a club that has a realistic chance to stay in the Prem and pay him. Not so fine when you know that Sheffield will unload him to whoever gets promoted at the end of this season.

Good luck Sheepshagger. I'm very skeptical that you've seen the worst of what's to come.

Did you see that Paul Hart's been sacked? That could be promising. And good news, permission to offer the job to Wisey has been denied by his current club. It's a good Monday for Sheepshaggers.

Brilliant observation that this is a manifesto for the ages.

I love it, Trev; especially the bit about Osama, Zarquawi and Al Sadr being Leicester, Stoke and Luton fans. There's an axis of evil for you!
