Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Gooner's just called to say that Van Persie is a "little twat" for the deliberate handball. I agree - Arsene could use a dose of the Fergie "hairdryer" technique with some of these kids.

It looks like a pretty entertaining game on offer - Liverpool are all over the Arse for the time being. Crouchie's just netted a chance set up by Kuyt, but it's called back for offside.

It's end to end stuff so far but somehow I see this ending up a draw. It's certainly a good omen for the Arse to have Spurs upended by Reading in the earlier match, but somehow I don't see either side breaking each other down - that'll suit ManYoo and Chelski.

From 365: "Arsenal have played some impressive football but their final ball has let them down so far."

The story of their season so far.

Looks like TH-14 may have to come off after picking up a knock. Not good news for Arsenal supporters. He's always the most likely to produce that bit of magic that can unlock a tight game like this.

GOAL: 1-0 Arsenal. Typical beautiful Arsenal passing move, but for once finished off with aplomb by Flamini.

That goal makes the table look ominously familiar:

1. ManYoo
2. Chelski
3. Arsenal

Half-time 1-0 Arsenal. They'll feel more than a little fortunate to be in the lead after having been on the back foot for most of the first half.

Anyone joining in now should note the new post about Sir Trev's lengthy interview in the Washington Post today.

I'd dispute that we were on the back foot the whole first half. We had a hairy 15 minutes around the Crouch off-side, but after that it was us typically trying to dance the ball into their net.

Hands up time-RVP = Little Twat!

I don't know what to do about him. Bob says he's indulged by Arsene and would do better under Ferg's thumb, an arguement that invites scepticism when you consider that Skippy has been allowed to continue his antics and before him, the Gelding's outrageous cheating.

I'm losing patience with him however and unless he starts really filling his boots with goals, would like to see another strike partner found for TH14.

GOAL: 2-0 Arse! A bit of the Dutch "total football" flair as the unlikely Kolo Toure is played through by the "little twat" and he cooly slots home Arsenal's second. They're looking comfy now.

Bellamy's come on for Crouchie, who hasn't been effective today.

RVP's got to be close to going off at this point for the intentional handball and several "simulations."

Now TH is back helping clear up a fast break by Bellamy. Have the Arsenal lads been on the phone to Johan Neeskens this week?

And now the Ashburton Grove faithfull are doing a round or two of the "Oles." That's cheeky!

GOAL: 3-0!! And Gallas has finished off the rout. The scoreline is a bit harsh on 'Pool but it certainly sets down a marker for the other sides.

It also reinforces the view that, far from being a championship contender, Liverpool are very, very ordinary and will struggle to stay in Europe next season.

Way hay, it's Mr. Compassionate Liberal Attorney - welcome!! And congrats again. It's no more than you deserve, mate. Well done.

And to add insult to injury, Liverpool have a consolation goal by Bellamy stricken for offside - and right so.

Flamini, Toure, and Gallas on the scoresheet. What's next - is Almunia going to take a freekick a la Chilavert?

Adebayor should've made in 4 there - but Reina did well staying on his feet.

On the replay, Stevie G. does not look well pleased about the marking on the Gallas goal - and rightly so.

Full-time: 3-0 A comprehensive hammering. Arsenal at their best, with pretty patterns and a sharp edge in front of goal.

I'm obviously a happy chappy after this. First time in a month that I've seen a comprehensively good performance from my boys against competent opposition.

Too right that Stevie-G was ticked off by the way Gallas was left absolutely in the clear for that training-ground-exercise 3rd goal.

And apart from being off-side, Bellamy's goal should have been chalked off for that ridiculous John Waters mustache he's got going. Another little twat.

So what did happen to the ref. I thought he'd done his knee in trying to avoid the run of play, but then he got a rub-down and was ready to go. Simulation a catching disease?
