Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Sunday Footie Wrap-up

Well, it's been a painful few day's with the desktop in the shop for repairs and the laptop in NYC with KC, so I've missed out on the footie discussion as I've watched the matches this weekend. Any thoughts, gents?

Starting with the early kickoff on Saturday - Arsenal vs. Blackburn. Obviously Sparky took Blackburn into that match to play out a draw and take the Arse back to Ewood Park. You can say, "Hats off to them for weathering the storm." or equally excoriate them for negativity. I tend toward the latter because I pay my cable fees to see a decent game of football and that had be dropping off on the couch several times. Gooner agreed with me that the Arse looked tired after their epic match against Bolton in midweek. There were some bright moments, though, especially toward the end and without the heroics in the net from Brad Friedel they might have nipped it. What do the rest of you lot think?

I agree. I was pretty goal starved by the time the Chelski match against Norwich started at 10. Still, I thought the Canaries were hard done by in that match. They deserved better and were denied mainly due to some wasteful attacking by Croft and Huckerby. Two against the bar in that match. It was also interesting to see Dion Dublin playing at both center back and center half. They're not good enough to make it back up into the Prem but they'll stay out of trouble this season.

According to Alan Green on 606 this week, Arsene Wenger called for doing away with replays in the FA Cup, presumably as a response to the negative tactics employed by Sparky Hughes. Any thoughts, lads?
