Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Hillary Night at the DNC

Yes, Mark Warner will give the keynote address tonight but the events really belong to the First Couple from Hope, with Bill introducing Hillary Clinton.

Will it be enough to assuage the Hillary holdouts? We'll see.

I have to admit that I'm switching back and forth tonight between the DNC and the Mighty Revs taking on Trinidad's Joe Public in the laughable Concacaf Champions League.

I am loving the combat on the MSNBC panel between Rachel Maddow and Pat Buchanan, especially since the crowd behind them boos Pat and cheers for Rachel. Good stuff.

Blimey these windbags are running long tonight. The keynote speaker Mark Warner is still about an hour away. At this point, the Clintons won't be on until midnight!

The keynote address usually gives you a sense of the future of the party (think Bill Clinton and Barack Obama). Well, if the future of the Dems is Mark Warner, I'm gonna keep voting Green.

It's heartening to see that Warner's speech is now being hacked apart by the pundits. I'm sick of that post-partisan bollocks. That may play in Fairfax County but this is still a highly divided country and the GOP are never shy about that.

This is a particularly weird "video tribute" for Hillary Clinton, replete with SNL clips and with a Lenny Kravitz backing track. What exactly does "Are You Gonna Go My Way" have to do with her? And what way is that exactly?

In all this search for red, white and blue unity, the Dems seem to have forgotten that they're actually running against another party, a party with an incumbent President at about 28% approval rating and a vp with about 18% approval rating.

Let's hope Biden takes off the gloves on Wednesday night. This is all a bit polite.
