Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

So, the squad for Wednesday's game has been announced. The permanent captain will be announced on Tuesday.
Terry or Rio?

Who are the surprises?
Robinson back?
Ashely Young, Darren Bent and Peter Crouch all not in the squad.

Your thoughts gentlemen

Well, it's not very good, is it? I'm still waiting for the day when the likes of Wes Brown, Stewart Downing and Jermain Defoe can't make the English squad. Sadly, that day hasn't come yet. Wasn't Don Fabio supposed to lead the team forward into a new era?

I see the same issues that Bob sees. It was never a good thing that the best of the worst under McClaren and SGE like Brown, Defoe, and Heskey kept getting chances. But with the emergence of Ashley Young, Gabby Agbonlahor, etc, it's just depressing to see this trio still getting the call.

Brown, I concede, has managed to very gradually evolve into a tolerable second choice at Old Trafford, but it still can't be any coincidence that England's decline comes at a time when these cretinous inclusions continue.

I'm disappointed.

Bloody Hell!!

As Michael Carrick gets a deserved recall he gets hurt playing for United.
Who get his place in the squad? Bloody Jermaine Jenas!! What do managers see in him????

Jenas is the WORST - i dont understand this either. Still, he wont play so its not terrible.

Agbonlahor deserves a call clearly and Ashley YOung - dont think Theo deserves his place over Crouch.

Once a generation, history serves up a gutless tin-man like Jermaine Jenas. I just can't see the point of him at all.

Crouchy hasn't looked very good yet this season though personally, I'd pick him and Theo and add Gabby Aglonbahor, leaving Heskey and Jenas at home.

I only saw the wrap up of the WBA game, but in the Twente game, that flippin' Wilshire Australian thug must have knocked him down 6 or 7 times without a peep from that useless, useless referee.

More bad news. Don Fabio has given the nod to JT as captain. I'm not even sure that I've have him in the first team at this point. This is yet more evidence that Capello is lacking in new ideas. But at least it wasn't Becks, right?

Davey,

How does that United "Viva JT" chant go? To the tune of "Viva Espana?"

Actually, the best news about the England game came at least a month ago when they confirmed that it was an FSC game.

BDB, I can't find a bar closer than Buffalo, but the FSC footy pub guide lists Colter Bay Grill and WJ Morrissey's Irish Pub as FSC subscribers. Both allegedly in Buffalo.

Amazingly, they don't list "Nocito's" in Scotia. I understand that there's at least one telly always tuned to FSC at that venue.

Cheers, mate. I won't be able to head up to Buffalo today, but I'll definitely be checking into those joints for later matches.

I'll be stuck in the office today following the match on-line. Enjoy the match if you get a chance to watch it live.
