I had a tremendous week last week with the predictions, so I'm hoping to keep up the momentum this week. Here are my picks:
Everton 1 Liverpool 1
Villa 3 Sunderland 0
Fulham 1 West Ham 1
ManYoo 2 Bolton 0
Boro 2 WBA 1
Newcastle 1 Blackburn 0
Stoke 0 Chelski 3
Arsenal 4 Hull 1
Pompey 2 Spurs 1
Wigan 1 Citeh 4
The stream is up and running and off we go!
Good start to the match with a lot of cut and thrust. Yakubu could have had a penalty a moment ago, while Liverpool have had several chances in the first ten minutes.
Referee Mike Riley is not endearing himself to the Everton faithful with a string of decisions that benefit the Reds.
Fifteen minutes in and still 0-0 at Goodison. A decent chance just there for Tim Cahill.
This game could easily boil over due to the mishandling of Mike Riley.
Hey Bob, I am here for a few minutes. I have to go to Jon's game this morning.
I have the Setanta feed on. The Sky didn't work.
What's the deal with your new picture?
I just lost the feed
Morning, Dave, or should I say "meow!" I just felt like a change. That other pic just felt like "Gatorbob"
It's back
My feed's just fine. Big miss there for Felaini, great block by Carradona.
How's your weekend stacking up?
Looks like a wet one.
We have Jon's game to go to and ours' tomorrow.
One of the Sky feeds had the bloody golf on! Blasphemy!
Did Matt or Tom have games on Friday?
Did you see the draw for the League Cup
Sunderland v Blackburn Rovers
Arsenal v Wigan Athletic
Chelsea v Burnley
Swansea City v Watford
Manchester United v QPR
Stoke City v Rotherham United
Brighton/Derby County v Leeds United
Tottenham v Liverpool
Matt had one on Thursday and Tom's game yesterday was postponed
Torres is getting a bollocking here after some backchat.
Do you think that the Respect campaign has had any impact?
Thanks for posting the Carling Cup draw. I hadn't seen it. I'll take that one. I was hoping to avoid a big Prem club for at least another round and we have. Lots of Prem clubs out already so we might be able to get a decent run together. Each of these rounds brings us much needed revenue. I've heard that we're finally back in the black this season after several in the red. Wish I could say the same thing for the American economy but that's another thread, eh?
My feed keeps going in and out
You lot and Chelski should get through easily. Nice to see QPR with a decent run given their recent traumas.
Try mine - it's something like "Adible" or "Iradible." I forget the spelling. But it's been perfect all morning.
Coming toward the end of the first half and honor's even so far. My prediction of 1-1 looks a decent shout. I'd get 15 points for 0-0 and 30 for the correct result.
Congrats on being in the black. It is all up from here.
I thought it was a good draw for you. I could see United losing at home to QPR
We have done it before
Xavi Alonso picks up a yellow for a foul on Arteta. A bit harsh?
It depends on who you run out. I'm not sure that you have a Superkids side like Arsenal to run out. Your second team has the likes of O'Shea in it.
Keane and Torres are still not clicking. No chemistry at all.
Probably Liverpool's last chance of the first half here. Gerrard's corner is cleared away and Alonso blasts over. That'll just about do it.
The Yak has a decent chance on the turn there to end the half. Not much time left now. Are you off to Jon's game?
Half-time: 0-0. Plenty of intrigue in this one, as expected. But the two managers will have to probably mix it up if they want to break the deadlock. Right now only a big mistake would probably win it.
I have been busy running around and now I am off. I will be back for the 10 o'clocks!
Second half up and running...cheerio, mate!
Yakubu has gone to ground consistently throughout this match and he's finally earned himself a yellow.
And now a yellow for Torres. He seems really frustrated and he's had several chats with the ref. Mike Riley's done with him. I'd have either him or Keano off in favor of another forward.
Gerrard has a go from range and it's not that far away.
Liverpool are horrible to watch.. have been all season - the good news is they cant be this bad later in the year and are still in the title hunt... I fancy a Torres goal to win it late.
Riera looks gassed; I'd have him off too for someone like Babbel.
Morning, Simon! I'd agree with you. It seems as if Rafa doesn't have a Plan B if Torres and Keane aren't clicking. What other strikers does he have now that Crouch is gone?
GOAL! 1-0 Torres. And just as I'd typed that, Torres nips in at the back post entirely alone and knocks it in. Lescott was dragged out of position by the run of Kuyt.
Never mind.. Torres got my goal :) Nice finish. As for other strikers ...hmm, Ngog and that Moroccan.. both of whom are underwhelming..
Looks like Saha is warming up and will come on soon to augment Yakubu up front for Everton.
Technically Kuyt should be the striker in reserve, I wouldnt have him and Keane in the team in Keane's present form.
Have you come down after that fantastic performance by the Gunners' youngsters against the Blades in midweek?
I've never liked Kuyt up top; I do think he's better as a busy forward behind the front two or running wide as today. He knocks in a few useful goals but he's not a reliable goalscorer who'll score 20+ in a season.
Unfortunately i was on holiday and missed the whole thing - seen the highlights since and am excited for Vela and Wilshere.... I reckon Vela might get a go against Hull today..
GOAL! It's Torres again and Liverpool are 2-0 up. Torres again ghosted in unmarked and sniffs out a chance. There goes my prediction of 1-1.
Vela was terrific and why not play him against a poor Hull side when you've got a CL match coming up in midweek. Give one of the front two a rest today?
Kuyt knocks one in but it's called back because the ball had obviously gone out. Corner to Liverpool instead.
Torres now thinks he has his hat-trick but it's called back for pushing. Liverpool are rampant now.
Glad I picked up Torres for my fantasy team.... I agree on Vela, the CL is huge this week as we will need a home win and rotation is probably the best policy after 3 nasty away games!
Riera's coming off and rightly so. And it's Aurelio on for him.
Saha nearly has an instant impression but Gerrard blocks well.
You're doing well with the "Ronaldo is a Slave" competition, I see. I've had horrible fortune until last weekend. It proves that I should never actually wager on this stuff.
Terrific tackle there from Jagielka. He's been good today, despite the two goals let in.
Nah, i am horribly midtable - though have a 2-1 for this so come on Saha....
Another chance for Fellaini but it goes begging. Skrtel was leaning on him again. He's been lucky not to go into the ref's book today.
Maybe it's another Burke I was looking at. Do you have a brother in the league as well?
Handbags here between Cahill and Arbeloa. It looks like a card for the Liverpool man.
Lescott crosses but no one is on hand to tap in.
Just over ten minutes for Everton to dig this one out.
Well! It's a red card for Tim Cahill out of nothing. That will probably finish off the Toffees for today. The challenge was bad but was it that bad? I don't know.
When I first saw it, i thought maybe a red..... the replay didnt make it look so bad but at full speed and with cahill frustrated from last foul its probably merited as it was intentional.
2 more Burkes hidden there... cousins Terry and John, both Spurs...
Great strike from Stevie G. and Tim Howard is equal to it.
Ah, that's it then. Big North London rivalry in the extended family then?
Aye, it usually involves my Dad and i mocking them a lot and them taking it. This year is no different :)
Pennant on... needs a haircut.
Gerrard lines up another free kick looking for his 100th goal...but it's not to be.
My dad was always a Spurs fan when we were kids but in recent years has jumped on the Arsenal bandwagon.
Saha launches a rocket but it's just wide.
Getting near to stoppage time now...
Are you the son of Sol campbell? :)
Full-time: 2-0 Liverpool. It's a big win for the red side of Merseyside and a big loss for Everton today.
I'm going to try to find Soccer Saturday while I get set to follow Leeds at home to Hereford. ManYoo vs. Bolton on FSC to come. And Arsenal vs. Hull later. Wow!
It sounds like it, doesn't it! ;-}
I think the clincher for my dad was that he found the Arsenal supporters club easier to deal with and was able to go to away games when he was more active and ambulatory. He's 84 now so he doesn't get out to matches.
Poor fella, Arsenal used to be very good at all that, I can only hope in the new corporate environment they are just as good. I am seeing Arsenal V Pompey at Xmas.
Did you find a Soccer sat feed? I sometmies get one and fancy that over united v Bolton today. Will mute Chelsea on telly if i can get Soccer sat.
I didn't find SS today. It's hit or miss, as you've said. So I'm resorting to the "crack" punditry of Christian Miles and Warren Barton.
Is it Chelski on the box? I thought it was ManYoo for some reason.
Liverpool are top at least temporarily on fourteen points. Somehow I suspect that both Chelski and the Arse will better them by the end of the day.
I think it's a bit hilarious that Stoke's main weapon is Rory Delap's long throw.
Hmm, i think Chelsea is FSC and United on Setanta - could be wrong though! I havent checked!
Warren Barton wonders why Lamps gets stick from England fans. Perhaps it's because he's pants when he pulls on the England jersey?
I think you're right. I'll probably follow the ManYoo vs. Bolton online.
Did you get the Setanta in? I've resisted as I have long memories of dealing with Irish leg-breakers outside pubs in Boston for many years. Don't like them.
http://www.justin.tv/eminem154th
This looks promising for Soccer sat - Best option is to use Popout and close the site itself to avoid the horrific chatbox... Quality isnt brilliant but its passable.
Cheers! I'll try that out. Are you planning to go to the U.S. vs. Cuba at RFK? My brother invited me down but I've got a conference that weekend. He may well have an extra ticket on hand for that.
ManYoo just about to kick off. They desperately need a win against Bolton at OT today.
Bugger the feed just died on Soccer Sat. :(
Van der Saar is in the side today despite a knee injury last weekend. Something of a goalkeeping crisis at OT.
Shame, that. I wasn't able to get it up at all.
Bolton are giving it a go in the first five minutes here.
I have Setanta via broadband which i pay for and i can now get it on Fios which I will. They are crooks but I can justify 15 a month as it includes CL in midweek...
Good effort from Ballack there but it's tipped over by Sorenson.
Yeah, fair point. I'm really enjoying the CL midweek matches these days. On Wednesdays I just shut my office door after my office hours and crank it up. What a change after years of hunkering over the Football 365 ticker.
Leicester have gone 1-0 up against Hartlepool to edge us into fourth spot in Division 1.
Ballack lines up a free kick but it swings wide.
Berba gets on the end of a decent cross but it's straight at the keeper.
Steed Malbranque sends Djibril Cisse through one-on-one with Brad Friedel and fires a powerful effort past the Aston Villa keeper. Sunderland lead 1-0.
That's blown another prediction for me. I had Villa at 3-0 there. sigh
Berb in appearance shocker! news at 10. Alright I am signing off for a bit as I had to switch rooms... Will likely reappear during arsenal game..
Park hits the side netting. ManYoo are ramping up the pressure after an initial onslaught from Bolton.
Cheers, Simon! Nice chatting with you.
Good save there by Sorenson from Drogs who was played in one-on-one with the keeper.
Decent chance for Cresswell but he blows it. Stoke won't have many chances today, methinks.
Ashley Young's fantastic 25-yard free-kick finds the back of the net to draw Aston Villa level with Sunderland. What a great strike!
Leeds have had a lot of chances already against bottom of the table Hereford but no goals in the first twenty minutes. Surely this will be an easy home win?
I am back. The United game is on the same feed I left the Costa game.
It's Johan Elmander's first appearance for Bolton since his summer signing and he's in the ref's book already.
Welcome back, mate! How was the match?
McCann goes into the book as well. I reckon that players should have at least one gimme when they're tackling that weasel Skippy.
My feed is stop and start again.
COME ON
Ronaldo hits one and Jaskalainen tips it around.
Jon scored a couple but they lost
Are you on the Iradible one? It's working lovely for me.
Who is in the United team?
Ah well. At least he maintained the family pride.
Which link?
Sorry, make that Infadible. That's the one I've been on all morning. Crisp, clear image of Setanta.
I have turned on the Setanta Veetle link. It is working well
Still only the one goal for Leicester in Division 1. A bit unusual.
Well done!
John Terry has just gone for the same kind of rugby tackle that saw him sent off a couple of weeks ago. Shocking stuff from England's captain.
Sounds like McCari is the color man
Yes! Huddersfield have taken the lead away to league toppers Oldham. That helps.
When are United going to score some goals!!!
It does. He's taken a break from frying up the bangers.
I don't see a link for Soccer Saturday
Blackburn have the lead at Newcastle. Chris Samba's powerful header easily beats Shay Given to continue the misery for the St James' Park club.
Simon found SS earlier here:
http://www.justin.tv/eminem154th
Give that a go.
Stoke must be the most frustrating side to play against. They're hanging on doggedly to keep Chelski at 0-0.
Didn't work. bugger
Why do keepers have blinders against United
Bugger, Chelski score
John Carew turns in the Sunderland box and fires a great shot home to give Aston Villa a 2-1 lead. Great game at Villa Park. Excellent, my prediction is back on there.
Great goal there by Cashley. He took it on his chest Pele-style and then rocketed a narrow shot into the far corner. Chelski finally 1-0 up.
Triple X challenge by Kevin Davies. He should have been off for that. Really nasty.
Sorry, that was Bosingwa who scored for Chelski. I thought that was a bit flash for Cashley.
I just got kicked of Safari. Now I have to find everything again
Scunthorpe have taken the lead against Yeovil to claim top spot in Div. 1.
Phew!!
What a miss by Bolton!!
Come on United, get your fingers out!!!!
Oh, big miss by Patrice Muamba for Bolton. Eight yards out and he completely missed. Lucky break for United.
The Toon are two down!!!
Come on Floodgates... OPEN
We've had eight shots against Hereford but still no joy at Elland Road. The goal has to come soon.
Do you think it's possible that Newcastle could get relegated this season?
West Ham have taken the lead at the Cottage
Close to half time, not very impressive by United!
What on earth are United playing at today. Arsenal absolutely ripped these mugs apart at the Reebok last weekend. I reckon Fergie's going to get the hairdryer out at half-time.
Oldham are losing but Scunthorpe are winning
Carlton Cole on the scoresheet for the Hammers there.
I agree, United are not impressive at all. Half time
Yes, if Leeds can pull out a win, it could be a really good weekend for us. We could be tied at the top.
The Hammers score again
Half time at Stoke with Chelski 1-0 up and on top of the Premiership.
Wow, I just read that Paul Newman died at the age of 83. I always liked him
Shame, that. I did as well. But 83 is a decent innings for the man.
AJ has been sent off for Fulham for a second bookable offence. The Hammers must be happy
Andy Johnson has received a red card after catching Lucas Neill with a very late challenge. The referee awards him a second yellow card. Fulham are down to 10 men and they also trail West Ham 2-0.
There's some shocking language in some of these chatrooms, especially from the Scousers. Make sure that the kids aren't around that or they'll learn some new "vocabulary."
I know, I don't have the chat room on
BTW, quite a few of your score predictions are looking pretty useless
second half is underway at OT
Bolton go close again
COME ON UNITED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oldham have scored early
United's goal difference is ZERO
off the bar from Chelski
Come on Prawn Sandwich Brigade... help open the floodgates
Ron hits post
Looks like Giggsy is going to come on. Who for?
I think Roon will come on first and possibly Scholes as well.
The Toon get a goal back. Pen by Wee Mikey
That was little better by United. Come on, turn the afterburners on
Very odd performance here from United.
I'll give your United a goal if mine can have one too.
That's good. I had them winning in that match. What a terrible prediction!
It's been like this all season.
O-0, 1-0, 1-2 and 1-1
That's a deal! I had your lot winning 2-0 here.
I'll take that but with your track record I haven't a hope
What is going on here!
You said earlier about a the hair dryer treatment but for the last few seasons, if United have struggled in the first it has been the same again in the second.
Now Walsall have taken the lead against Carlisle and have leap-frogged us. We're in fifth now. We need a goal!
Goal at the Riverside and it has gone to the Baggies
Fifteen shots to two for Leeds against Hereford. Surely one will fizz into the net?
Come on United, score from your 10th corner
nope... a bloody short one
Great move by Berba, Tev and shot and a Ron shot blocked
Penalty for Ronaldo! He was definitely caught there.
Pen for United.
Apparently, it wasn't
And it wasn't... all ball.
Terrible decision
Surely Ronaldo to take....
And he scores easily. 1-0 United.
OF course, I don't care...
Ronaldo to take...ONE NIL!!!
It wasn't a pen but it also wasn't a dive!!
He got ball but didn't you think his trailing leg caught Ronaldo? That's a pen in my book.
Bloody Hell, Stoke came close twice.
COME ON STOKE!!
Never a pen
Ten man Fulham get a goal back
Murphy with a pen
Fulham are back in it. 2-2 would suit me there.
That penalty has you lot up in the top half for the first time this season. Extraordinary!
Celtic losing at home to Aberdeen
Scunthorpe have scored again.
My United have their goal... what about yours?
I hope Berba scores soon. I don't want another Birtles.
Elmander's off for Vaz Te. Not much of a debut for him.
Anelka with a wild shot. He's not looked in good form this season.
Stoke don't look like mugs here.
Either do Hull. West Brom are winning too.
So much for those three certs to go down
I don't think there's any danger of Berba being like Gary Birtles.
Has he scored yet?
Oldham have equalized against Huddersfield.
Well, no.
Not too bad for Subs
Scholes and Rooney
Roon and Scholsey coming on for Anderson and, well, someone else. I've lost the feed temporarily.
My feed just died.
Anderson and who came off
