Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Bloody Confused, Chapter Six

I was surprised that Culpepper took six chapters before he mentioned the increasing American presence on the pitch and in the owner's box in the Premiership. That got me thinking about this trivia question:

"How many American-born goalkeepers have played in the Premiership since its inception? Name them and their clubs."

Good luck, lads!

Tim Howard for Everton and ManU
Brad Friedel for Aston Villa and Blacburn and L'pool
Kasey Keller for Leicester and Spurs
Brad Guzan for Villa
Marcus Hanneman for Reading
Jeff Cassar for Bolton
Ian Feuer for West Ham?
and there was that really tall guy with the German name that played in the MLS for maybe Columbus who had previously had a stint in what might have been the Prem or the old First. I can't find his name on Wikipedia, which obviously is how I stumbled over the fact that Jeff Cassar was picked up by Bolton for a time.

Tremendous effort. I didn't even pick up on Jeff Cassar. Not sure about the bloke with the German name either.

But there is one more currently playing in the Premiership who was in fact born in the United States. Any guesses?

I know you love that name, but...no.

What ever happened to that bloke anyway?

Jurgen Sommer, that's the guy I was thinking of. And I think he may have been the first Yank to boot.
