Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Morning, TBD. We are up and about here in DC. Maggie just left for her 8:30 am match, and Cal plays at 9. This weekend Maggie has three soccer games and Cal two. Yes, I am just a tad bit jealous.
Rolling Stone magazine (available online) has an excellent piece on the real McCain. Well worth a read.
C'mon you Whites!
Morning, Trev! Good to have you on board. I'm a RS subscriber so I'll look forward to seeing it. Is it a Matt Taibbi piece? He's excellent.
Still 0-0 at Peterborough. Thanks for the well wishes. Our away form has been good this season but we need all the luck we can get. We got some good news last night with an Oldham loss that gives us a chance to move up a spot or two today.
The Soccer Saturday feed has been replaced with the set-up for Birmingham vs. QPR, which is not what I want. I'm going searching for my Stellings fix.
Coming up on half-time at Peterborough. If anything, the home side has edged it in terms of chances, but it's still 0-0
Hey Bob, I am here for a while before the boys' footer starts.
I didn't see any of the Soccer Saturday feed. I only found Birmingham QPR
Leeds have kicked off early again!!
When is the last time they kicked off at 3?
Hey mate! When I jumped on at 7, there was still a link to Soccer AM, which is usually on 6-10 a.m. GMT, so I clicked on that and got about half an hour of SS. Then the channel went on to this match. It's the only English footer option, so I'm watching it. I don't want either of these mugs back up in the Prem, do you? Haven't we seen enough of Ian Dowie?
Bugger! I've just gone to make a cup of coffee and come back and Peterboro have taken the lead. This will not stand!
I haven't seen Steve Caldwell lookalike Lee Carsley in a while. He's at Brum apparently.
You are right that we've had a bunch of early kick offs this season. It must be a real pain for our supporters today to get down to Peterborough by noon. Either they'd have to start out in the middle of the night or go down Friday and spend the night in a hotel.
Macca's made his first change: Robert Snodgrass on for Jonathan Howson. The truth of the matter is that we've been outplayed so far. But there's still half an hour left.
Leeds are starting to pile the pressure on finally.
IT's LEEDS TIME!!!!!
Well, give them a few minutes, mate. But I appreciate the spirit. Neil Kilkenny on for Fabian Delph now.
Fifteen minutes left for the Leeds to pull it out of the fire.
Now it is bloody Leeds Time! Five minutes left. Come on, you Whites!
Well that's torn it. A second goal by Peterborough in the 90th minute. That's going to be our second loss of the season, no doubt. I can't believe I woke up early for that bollocks.
Back at 10 for the regular schedule. Cheerio for now.
I'm back and looking forward to the Premiership offerings today. FSC are showing a rubbish WBA-Fulham match but there's no need to be limited to that, is there Dave? I've got the Setanta feed for the Sunderland-Arse match up and running.
Good to see that that Clint Dempsey gets a start for Fulham up front with Bobby Zamora today.
I'm hoping to pick up some points this morning on the Ronaldo the Slave predictions forum. I'm currently languishing in 23rd, Sir Trev is in 19th and the Gooner is in 12th. That won't do!
WBA-Fulham have kicked off but something has held up matters at the Stadium of Light.
It looks really blustery in old Blighty today. Brrrr.
Not surprisingly, Sunderland are giving it a go from the start, playing a lot of balls long over the top to Cisse.
Jimmy Bullard lines up a free kick....
And it's just over the top.
Song might have put a header on target there but the Sunderland player's presence put him off and it ballooned over the top.
Still no goals in the Prem. Leeds still in fourth despite the loss. Millwall are behind to MK Dons, which helps us.
Good save Almunia at Cisse's feet. Should he be England's #1?
Morning chaps.
Finally found a decent feed and I'm on for the match now.
Song for Nasri. There's impression that like Pires, Nasri needs to settle before experiencing the physical teams in the league.
Walcott's bacon saved by Almunia there.
Cisse hits a rocket and is tipped over by Almunia. He's causing Arsenal some headaches.
Arsenal have been tested at corners in the past two weeks. Let's see how they deal with this one.
Cleared out with no problems. To be fair, without Kenwyn Jones, Sunderland don't really have the kind of aerial threat that has been causing Arsenal problems. Cisse doesn't fancy challenging for headers.
Robert Green should be England Number 1. Invest in the future and build him up. That Hart kid at Man City if he's English is worth a punt too.
Did you read that John Terry rated Kenwyn Jones as the forward that gave him the most problems last year? He didn't even qualify that statement "in the Prem."
This is a really odd commentary team on Setanta, with what sounds like an Irish bloke with a lisp and Liverpool old boy David Fairclough doing the color. WTF?
That just shows you how little JT understands the game.
The Arsenal are starting to express themselves a bit more. They've weathered the full-blooded early assault from Sunderland.
Setanta is an Irish company. They've probably got their first unit of Macmanaman and El Tel up for their coverage of the Man Utd v Blackburn game.
Cisse looks a bit skeletal around his face. Doesn't look very well but he's still very quick.
Further on Cisse, that Reid bloke must be eating off Djibrill's plate. I haven't seen a player with that physique since John Robinson at Forest.
I agree with you about Cisse. What with the shocking hair and the gaunt figure, he looks more like a character out of a Ridley Scott action pic than a footballer.
Have you noticed that since the Croatia match that teams are putting three players on Theo every time he touches it?
Walcott needs to use that attention to release one of the forwards or Fabregas. So far, his short passing isn't as good as his crossing.
Having just written that, Theo balloons a cross when both Manu and RVP were lining up to get on the end of it.
OK, what difference does the fact that Sagna was able to evade Yorke's really bad challenge? Does Yorke get some sort of pass because Sagna was able to jump over his studs-first tackle? That's a card for either recklessness or intent.
Hey guys I am back for a little while
The link we get a lot of times from Setanta is Sentanta Ireland. So, that maybe a reason for the Irish stuff.
Sorry about Leeds mate
Good move from Fulham ends with Clint Dempsey rifling one into the keeper's arms. Shame.
I was thinking also that Roy and his Emerald army would be of particular interest in the green isle.
Welcome back, Dave? Are you around for the United game or do the lads have a match today?
Who's been dominating the FSC game?
Now Clichy is going into the book. I agree with you, Gooner. Yorkey should have gone in before. It's a shame that he's been reduced to playing a defensive midfield role now in his waning years.
I'd say more Fulham although Miller just missed an open header for WBA.
I will only be around for the beginning. Tom has a game
Are you watching the Setanta US feed?
I chose the Veetle link. Have you guys downloaded it. It is one that a Mac does work with
Clichy is going to have to watch himself. Chimbonda is going to writhe around on the ground over every contact and this ref doesn't impress me with his temperament.
Nasty challenge there by Whitehead on Denilson. Deserved yellow card. It's starting to get chippy.
BTW, Leeds lost because the SAF factor.
Darren is the manager
Hard to say. I think it might be Setanta Ireland given that the time indicated is GMT.
Darren who?
Not much happening in the Prem.
NO GOALS AT ALL
The ref in the Sunderland-Arse match is definitely card happy. Agreed.
Half-time in the FSC match. That went by quickly.
This comment has been removed by the author.
I haven't been able to get Veetle to work. I've downloaded it, but it refuses to work.
Of course there are only THREE games.... BLOODY UEFA CUP!! Or should I say the UEFA Europa League.
What a stupid name for next year!!
I've been enjoying the UEFA Cup this season. Don't be picking on it. I don't know why they don't just squeeze all the CL matches into Tuesday and play the UEFA Cup on Wednesday. That would free things up for the weekend, wouldn't it?
Get the boys into the tunnel and have Le Boss get them regrouped.
There's just no fluency between the forwards and the midfield. I suppose that's Sunderland's intent, but other than defensive discipline, they haven't impressed me.
Half-time. Where's me cheese on toast, Dave?
That's sounds good. I think I will
I think you do know why the CL has expanded to two nights every fortnight. What you're suggesting limits the television money to one night? Never going to happen.
I agree about the UEFA. They should play all the UEFA on Tuesday and have the CL on Wednesdays.
I enjoyed following Pompey on the website. I turned it on just for Extra time
Absolutely true
I clicked on the Setanta US link on Veetle but the half time show is Setanta Ireland. The guy has said it about four times. Is it the same thing? Are you watching the same?
I'm watching Setanta Ireland off of a Justin.tv feed.
My link said Setanta US. I wonder if that is what is shown here. The commercials aren't anything but Setanta stuff
Me too. Odd advertising at half-time.
I think the US Setanta take the Ireland feed but don't show the same commercials. When we have a Sky feed, we do get the UK commercials as well.
Have I told you guys that I LOVE this site!!!
Absolutely!
They're back on at the Hawthorns. Is there some reason why they're kicking this match off a bit on the early side?
I am surprised that there isn't a link to different club's TV channels.
MUTV, ChelseaTV ...
Usually FSC is behind by a couple of minutes
I've just texted Apache pizza and my potato and chedder pizza will be here in 3 days.
Occasionally I have picked up the MUTV and ChelskiTV feeds, usually just before a match has started or in between matches.
off the post by the baggies
I think it takes about 4-5 minutes to redirect the broadcast from Setanta to the pirates to us.
was the guy name DONK? What happened with the header... DONK off the post
Forest losing again and rock bottom. Glad it isn't Leeds?
Pizza in Britain is still fairly hopeless, isn't it?
Nice one, Davey!
Everything else seems to be live.
I wonder if it is delayed
Oh, if we're doing funny names, during the Bail-out bill coverage, did anyone notice that there's a congressman from Tennessee named Zack Wamp?
The linesman's broken his flag in the FSC match. Bullard is amused.
Sky's text coverage has just started for the second half
Yeah, I caught that too. He was on one of the yack shows I was watching. I don't think you can get elected in Tennessee without a funny name.
I think we are on time, the match is delayed. Let's hope for a goal to see if we can judge
Are you two rooting for Fulham? Most of the Yanks have moved on
I'd have Bendtner on in a few minutes if the Arse continue to be frustrated.
Not really. I still like to see Dempsey do well, though. No love for the Baggies at all.
Why don't WBA have a shirt sponsor?
Leicester have just taken the lead at Huddersfield
Because West Bromich Building Society who did sponsor them went under.
I'm going into goal withdrawal here.
Speaking of that, how is it that AIG can still sponsor ManYoo?
Arsenal have not shown much. Were they better in the first half?
Still no goals in prem. What will the highlights show have to show?
If this is still deadlocked at 70 minutes, I'd sacrifice Denilson for Nasri, and RVP for either Bendtner or Vela
Dunno, maybe there will be a picture of Dubya on their shirts next week!
I'd make the move earlier
FSC have resorted to showing replays of blocked shots. That's how little action there's been at the Hawthorns.
You're right - I'll take the AIG logo after all.
Looks like Le Boss is considering bringing on Eboue. Probably for Denilson.
Davey, it's been a match without fluency from us.
Chalked off incorrectly? I can't tell
Well, RVP's got it in the net but it won't count. Over the line? I'd have to see that again.
Did you see the rumor this morning that Keano is interested in bringing Patrick V. to the S of L.
Interesting after their background
GOAL! WBA have scored! It's a scrambly Division 2 effort but I'll take it. At least the old onion bag has been bulged today.
Goals in both games but only the WBA game counts.
That ball wasn't out in Sunderland, was it?
I'd laugh if it was switched from AIG to McCain/Palin 08!
I can't see that. They hated each other as players and Vieira's not up to the work rate that Keano expects of his players.
Say it ain't so, Stevo!
Gordon spills it but no one is there!
It is enjoyable having you here too Gooner. Usually I have to put up with your brother ALONE!!!
Love Ya Bob
That Viera rumor doesn't ring true. He's past it. As it is, I can't figure out why Roy lets Yorkie eke out a living on the pitch.
Free kick chance for Richardson
I need a Fulham goal for a perfect 30 points in the FSC match.
Or Reid, looks like Andy Ried
Were either of you watching Letterman last night?
The top ten was messages left on Palin's answering machine.
#1- "Hi, it's President Bush. If you're out debatin', who's watchin' Russia?"
Keano keeps Yorkie around for the calypso lessons.
Very funny
Letterman's been on fire since Johnny Mac stiffed him last week. You obviously don't cross Dave.
Yorkie's in charge of rounding up the slags for Saturday night.
Time for a change, Arsene!
Nearly another scrambly goal for the Baggies. Come on, you Cottagers! Pull your fingers out!
Ah, here comes my boy Niklas. On for Theo. Wouldn't have been my choice. I'd have had Adebayor off.
Second that. Here comes Nick for Theo. That pushes RVP wide? Have to see how that works.
Nice color work on FSC... "I don't know why the linesman puts up his flag... good decision by the linesman"
Walcott off? Strange
Denilson's been doing a lot of whinging today. I'd have him off too.
Leicester are two up
Cream of the division?
Jesus! Captain Bill in another "misses the header" shocker.
Scunthorpe have been pegged back and only drawing
Agreed. Denilson off, Eboue or Nasri on.
Stevo, I want a picture with your comments.
Something better than Bob's pussycat or Blue Devil!!
I sent him a perfect picture for him to use and he is being childish!
I'd say so. I reckon Leicester will win the league and we'll take second spot.
Leicester have let a goal in
I'll put the cat back on!
Nasri! That gives me hope.
That's cute BDB. Have you given all the Arsenal players nick-names?
Finally Yorkie's going into the book. That tackle was criminal. Fairclough thinks it's harsh - what a prat!
Nasri(-the-cat, apparently) for Denilson.
NO, the cat refers to his picture of Miss ? the kitty he had as his picture
I should have known. It would surely be Nasri, le chat otherwise.
That's Miss Luna if you're nasty, Dave.
I need a goal from Wigan, Fulham and the Arse in the next ten minutes and I'll be a happy chappy.
That was a chance for the Arse. Get a shot on goal
Bendtner into Row Z there. Shame. Come on, the Arse!
Justin, quit f*****g around with the remote!
ON GOAL BENDTNER!! NOT ROW Z
Huddersfield tie it up with Leicester.
Scores going well for Leeds
What does that mean?
Justin TV having problems?
My Veetle has been pristine
My feed looks like those tapes that I would get from my Dad where he kept fiddling with the volume or accidently started flipping the channel.
What a chance. More please!
Carlisle losing as well.
That was a good save by Gordon
Yeah, occasionally on some of the feeds you get a channel surfing effect as the host seems to be looking for something else. Sometimes one of the wags in the chatroom will say something like, "Put some porn on!" Btw, those chatrooms are not safe for work or the kiddies!
Agreed
Yeah, great. Veetle doesn't seem to work for me.
I think Justin keeps checking to see if the next match has started. This one is admittedly not very good.
I say, give it another shot
Bollocks! A shot out of nothing. There goes my prediction down the pan.
Dammit
OH MY GOD!! What a shot!!
UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Bob, you said 2-1 to the Arse. There is time to get a perfect score
Meanwhile the Baggies are wrapping up their win. That's another ten points in the hole. And Wigan are drawing. I had a bad feeling about today.
Yeah, maybe. Vela is on now. Time for Arsenal to pull out of the cork on the champagne.
Fab with a shot straight into the keeper's arms.
WBA win
I think this result is harsh. That was a flukey strike.
But I am livid that we've been so poor.
Would I have seen that coming? Yes, unfortunately. Really bad defending and we've not taken our chances.
Great, Vela is on with 5 minutes to go now that Sunderland have packed all 11 players into their end. This is pissing me off.
Fab should have done better there
Something's happened between Bendtner and Chimbonda there. He's picked up a yellow for a silly push.
Arsenal seem to play brilliant one game and then one off.
Shef. Utd, then Hull, Porto and now this
Frustration.
Four minutes of stoppage time. Gallas tries a bicycle kick!
Four minutes of added time
Gallas tries the overhead kick. Get back man
Boro score a late winner... as do Leicester
I think there's a bit too much tinkering with the side. If your coming off a resounding 4-0 win, why alter the side?
Corner to the Arse! Come on!
I think there is no delay in this game.
WBA game is finished and others still on
Yes! Fab with the goal! Come on, now. Let's have another!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS
Corner to the Arse
Last chance saloon and they score!!!
Well done Steve.
Oh, nearly. No, the whistle has go for a foul by Ade.
Gordon Bennett!!
I thought that was in!
And I'm happy to see Fabregas rape Chimbonda to get to that header. That guy gets up my snout and I think Roy will be impolite when he asks Pascal just what the hell he though he was doing.
And that's it. Arsenal rescue a point but it's not good enough for me. I'm 30 points in the whole. I'm gonna need a result from your lot, Davey!
That's it. Good comeback Steve. Two points dropped but at least it was three
We'll do our best
I'm off for a shower and some lunch. I'll be back for the ManYoo-Blackburn in a tick.
Rooney is warming up. Is he going to play?
Disappointing result but it could have been so much worse.
Right, I'm off to the neighborhood arts fair. This was fun back and forth with you.
Cheers!
Take care Steve
Boro win
Leeds still fourth, two points off second.
Berba and Roon to play up top.
Tev on bench. I would play Tev as well
I'm back. I've got United at 2-1 here. I need the points. Any prediction, Dave?
I am back from taking Tom to his bus.
I'll take a win
Good luck to Tom! And United!
