We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
Boy, it's been a rough week or two for my musical heroes. Last week it was Freddie Hubbard, and now comes the sad news that seminal punk guitarist Ron Asheton, who ripped it up in the Stooges with Iggy Pop, has died of a heart attack at 60. So I'll take a moment today and slap on "Search and Destroy" and try not to think about my own mortality.

Man, you're right that our musical heroes are going quicker than ever. Mind, I'm sure that Ron lived a harder life than most.
No doubt, mate. But still...60, eh? Not much of an innings.
