Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Here are the teams for today's big all-English clash:
Liverpool: Reina, Arbeloa,
Carragher, Skrtel, Aurelio, Kuyt, Lucas, Alonso, Riera, Gerrard, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Dossena, Hyypia, Agger, Benayoun, Babel, Ngog.
Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Ashley Cole, Kalou, Ballack, Essien, Lampard, Malouda, Drogba. Subs: Hilario, Carvalho, Belletti, Mancienne, Mikel, Deco, Anelka.
Excellent coverage on Sky Sports 2 with Jamie Redknapp, Ruud Gullit and Gary McAllister.
Excellent rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" to the strains of Gerry and the Pacemakers in the Kop there.
Old friends John Terry and Steven Gerrard shaking hands and exchanging pennants there.
The English sides had a rocky night of it yesterday, with Arsenal coming off the better of the two in the end. They'll expect to get the job done at the Emirates in two week's time. United have a good deal of work to do and must win in Portugal.
One English side will be eliminated in this tie.
And we're off...!
First corner to Liverpool here...
Cleared out to Kuyt, who's shot was deflected just wide. Another corner to come, no, someone called offside.
Liverpool have been flying in the Premiership but are usually cagey in these European ties.
The camera angle seems to be a bit odd tonight. Have they built a bigger stand at Anfield? It's almost the bird's eye view you usually associate with White Hart Lane.
GOAL! First blood to Liverpool as Torres knocks a clinical finish from Aurelio's cross.
Didier in one-on-one with Reina! The Spaniard saves well but seems to have hurt himself in the effort. This is not cagey at all. A great start!
Torres nearly in there again after a tremendous tackle by Riera. Ran out of space.
Barca have taken the lead on 9 minutes through Lionel Messi. Who else?
Aurelio caught Kalou there and he's down on the pitch getting treatment. He may not be able to continue and Aurelio's lucky not to be booked.
Free kick to Chelski....
Lamps hits it straight into the wall and then knocks a shallow ball in that's easily cleared. Lamps let his anger at Aurelio get the best of him there.
Anelka warming up...
Eto'o has added a second goal for Barca on 12 minutes. I had a feeling that Bayern might struggle defensively against a good side and here's the proof. Another goal for Barca and the tie's as good as over.
Another free kick opportunity for Chelsea here...
Alex with a piledriver straight into the wall at ankle height. Rubbish free kicks so far.
Malouda has a go from an acute angle and he's inches wide.
Malouda, who was giving Jo a run for his money on the Hair Bear Bunch competition, has it done in cornrows tonight.
Corner now for Chelski, who are building some momentum now....
Torres dispossesses Lampard in midfield and floats a curving shot just over. Good stuff from Torres.
Drogba gets in front of Carragher and blazes over while he's falling over. Should have hit the target. And Guus Hiddink is not well pleased.
Chelski have certainly played well enough to be level with half an hour gone. They're definitely not out of this match.
American international Maurice Edu has scored for Rangers away to St. Mirren. Good lad - he's struggle in the SPL but that goal should do him some good.
Kalou picks up the first yellow of the night for petulantly kicking the ball away.
Riera worked his way into a great area on the bye-line and hit a ridiculously long cross over. What a waste.
Arbeloa jinks inside and hits a looping shot toward the left post. Just wide. Liverpool exerting their control over the match again.
GOAL! Ivanovic has leveled things for Chelski. Great run in from the 12 yard box and heads home easily from Lampard's corner.
1-1!
Wow, Cech just about saves at the feet of Dirk Kuyt. Could easily have been 2-1 there.
Still five minutes left and we've had enough action in this first half for five matches. Andy Gray is positively panting!
Messi has added a third goal for Barca in the first half against Bayern. So that's Barca into the semis then.
Drogs wastes another good chance by blazing over from a ridiculous angle when Lampard was clear at the edge of the D.
Two minutes of added time to come...
Half-time: A gripping first half ends. It can't really get any better in the second half.
1-1
I am home
Wotcher, Dave!
Any thoughts about the United-Porto match yesterday?
Second half begins
And we're off in the second half!
Liverpool start as they started the first half by winning a free kick early on.
Costa attacking their preferred Kop
Alex almost gives away a corner there
Liverpool attacking the Kop in this half. Did they win the toss, Dave?
I am not happy about United.
I haven't been for WEEKS!!! Our last good performance in any competition was Inter away and Fulham away
Other than that, HOPELESS!!
I know we are capable of winning in Porto if we get are fingers out!!
I am not confident about Sunderland on Saturday!
What about your lot giving away a two goal lead against 10 men?
No thoughts at all about yesterday's matches? You must be sick as a parrot!
IMHO United are well capable of turning Porto over away from home. I'm still predicting United-Arsenal and Barca-Liverpool in the semis with United-Barca in the final.
Drogs!! Off the line
Lost the feed for the moment. You'll have to keep me apprised.
I was not pleased with our collapse either yesterday. We were two up and when I left for my class were two-one up with ten minutes to go. Gave up a second in the 85th. Sick as a parrot!
Good spell for Chelski
They are bombarding the Costa goal but Torres breaks but hits it over the bar
Blimey - I hadn't noticed that TH-14 had added a fourth goal for Barca before half time. They're positively romping it!
I'm back on Atdhe now. Good stream.
Lampard plays a wild ball back to Cech and gives away a needless corner.
Lamps tries a long back pass and goes for a corner
Essien down on the turf with the stretcher coming out. That's not a good sign for the Blues.
Did you see that Fergie said on the weekend that the biggest rivals for the Title will be the winner of this tie?
Your thoughts
The thing that worries me about United is their passing. They have been terrible
Nearly 60 minutes gone and time for both managers to consider some changes. Hiddink might well be satisfied with things so far.
Things are heating up. JT and Reina clash and both are down writhing.
Terry thinks that the Spaniard is a Spanish Bull!!
Terry is an idiot!!
I don't see Chelski as a rival of yours at all. Liverpool perhaps but not Chelski.
Terry picks up a yellow and deservedly so. That'll be a suspension for the next match.
Terry in the book and out of the second match
It was deserved. It was a useless challenge.
Now Cashley has bumped Torres into the corner flag. What's going on - it was a really good, sporting match in the first half.
Great mind think a like!
CHELSEA TAKE THE LEAD!!!
Same thing is happening to Costa as United
GOAL! Ivanovic again! Can Liverpool's center backs not mark up at all? What on earth were they thinking? There were three blue shirts unmarked there. Criminal stuff.
Liverpool 1 Chelski 2!
Could this affect Liverpool's confidence in the league? Very possibly.
From the Beeb
2101: Chelsea captain John Terry is booked by referee Claus Bo Larsen for that incident and he will now miss the second leg next Tuesday. Silly decision.
Surely it was deserved!!
Who have Pool got at the weekend? There are some cracking fixtures once again:
Stoke vs. Newcastle
Hull vs. Boro
Now I need Rafa to tinker for the Rovers game this weekend and they drop some points
Second leg next Tuesday? Or in a fortnight?
Next week
This lot on Tuesday
United Arse on Wednesday
Supersub Yossi Benayoun to come on. He did the biz on Saturday. We'll see if lightening strikes twice.
Not good. I'll be in a conference on Tuesday and traveling back from San Diego on Wednesday. Bollocks.
Bloody Hell
THREE ONE!!!
GOAL! And Drogba has just about killed off Liverpool now!
Drogba had three big chances in the first half and he's finally converted.
Great cross and finish
I just put on the Vss link and it is the Sky coverage
Tommy Smyth showing that he doesn't know the first thing about football again. He's claiming that Drogs was offside when it's clear that the cross was played back to him!
I had the VSS coverage earlier and it was magical but it kept freezing up. So I've got the ESPN2 coverage on Atdhe now.
Nail-biting time on the Kop now.
He's an idiot
Interesting talk on FFF on Monday about the Champions League. All English feeds, NO TOMMY SMITH
The Final on FX
I don't know what they meant about Fox Net. What channels they are on about
I'm back on the Sky coverage on VSS. Lovely jubbly.
Did you catch the comment from the caller about JustinTV and Steven Cohen's comment that I emailed you about? That was classic!
I just put the DVR back and I think Smith was talking about Molouda(?) was in an offside position when it was passed to him
Fox has a number of local cable sports channels. For example I used to watch local coverage of the Revolution on Fox Sports New England with commentary from Derek Rae back when he was an American. That's what I'm assuming they were talking about.
My apologies to Tommy then. But he is an eedjit.
Andy Gray is stating the obvious
Costa need a goal
He says Costa could win 2-0 at the Bridge and it wouldn't be good enough
Aurelio off for Dossena. He's a defender but has shown the knack for scoring late goals recently.
I suppose that's true, Andy. Get him on Mastermind.
Reina with a great throw out to Benayoun who wastes it.
Finally it's Anelka time.
And Lucas is coming off for Babel.
Andy's losing it: "Drogba has been brilliant tonight...apart from his finishing."
What?
I'm off for my class, mate. Cheerio for now. I'll chat with you at the weekend.
Look out for a funny thread on Walker's new crisp flavors tomorrow.
Sorry, I had to go pick up Matt
3-1!!1
Congrats CIA!!!
