Hey Bob
I am here
I have vss on but it is jumpy. I am going to look for a new link
Morning, Dave. I'm searching as well.
It has kicked off but still looking for a good link
United start with a very attacking looking formation with Rooney and Berba central, and Nani and Valencia tucking in behind.
Third link on atdhe is working
The second link on Atdhe seems to be working.
The teams
Man Utd: Foster, Fabio Da Silva, O'Shea, Jonathan Evans, Evra, Valencia, Fletcher, Scholes, Nani, Berbatov, Rooney. Subs: Kuszczak, Brown, Owen, Anderson, Giggs, Gibson, De Laet
Birmingham: Hart, Carr, Roger Johnson, Queudrue, Vignal, Larsson, Ferguson, Carsley, Fahey, McFadden, Jerome. Subs: Maik Taylor, O'Connor, Phillips, Benitez, McSheffrey, Parnaby, O'She
Plenty of good movement from United at the beginning of this match.
Surprised not to see Carrick
The statistics don't bode well for Brum. Never one against United, never scored at OT in the Prem.
United look to be using both flanks a lot
Did he pick up a knock against Holland?
That would explain it
Of course, all of these statistics sound worse than they are. They seem to think that history started in '92
Nice shot by Evra
No free kick for that foul on Berba?
Mad scramble in the Brum defense. They somehow get it clear.
McFadden goes close for United
That was a foul on Berba... of course, who would take it.
ooh, United go close three times!!
Put it in the net
Did your bloke just to change it to Chelsea goalfest and then right back again?
Rooney's shot produces a good save from Hart.
Great shot by Rooney
Of course, Hart is going to have a blinder
Not a very impressive corner by Nani
No, it's been on United since I put it on.
I didn't realize this is Fabio's Premier League debut
I'll bet that there a bunch of United players who have been dying to have a crack at free kicks for the past four seasons.
I remember Owen Hargreaves telling Ron that he was taking one against Costa... he scored!
I like the nickname that The Guardian gave Costa
Real Mersey
This bloke changed the channel again!!
Knock it off
I just went to VSS again. The sound is still going in and out!
It is the Sky coverage.. this isn't
Don Fabio already knows England's keeper for next summer...?
Not so fast Calamity!
Come on United
TURN IT ON!!!!
Come on Old Trafford
LET'S BE HAVIN YOU
Good collection by Foster
Try the second link on Atdhe.
58 out 60 points from the bottom half of the table last season!!
I know the two we dropped. Newcastle at home on the opening day
Is it Sky?
I have the Setanta link
Brum are doing better than I'd expected.
Me too
United need to score soon or it will get harder and harder
I can't tell. It's got a label on it that I can't quite read, but the feed has a familiar commentator on it.
The Ferguson-McFadden Scots combination is decent for them. But Cameron Jerome is a donkey.
I think you have the Setanta link too
Come on Berba... get onside!!! You can't be closer to goal that the defender!! He was just standing there
Banjo Boy, suspended? I'm shocked!
Five Live is blacked out this morning
I like the colorman's comment... better get used to Bowyer being suspended
Not impressed at all so far by my lot
Another corner to United. Another useless one by Nani
Another one from the other side
Tries a short one and lose possession.
Come on United
The crowd's a wee bit quiet, don't you think?
SAF already looking at his watch
LIke the Highbury Library
Nani's shoulder has gone again!
Seems to be staying on
Oh, how did Rooney miss that one?
Great run by Fabio.... Roon close to the rebound.
Another corner... please better than all the rest... another short one! Nothing again but another corner
Another short corner!!1
Nani with a shot... horrible
That was nicely worked to Nani but he was leaning back when he shot well over.
Over half an hour gone... Not a good start
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROONEY!!!!!!!
Off the post but nets the rebound!!!
GOAL! Rooney with his first of the season. Great cross over, headed onto the post by Roon and he was there to pick up the scraps.
1-0!
Actually, on second look, it was the defender's header onto the post.
I feel a little bit better but still not too impressive.
We take on the Arse in a couple of weeks!!
THis guys sound is acting up now!
Struth that was close!!!
Off the line... COME ON UNITED!!
Two weeks in a row off the line by Evra
Into the last five minutes
Nothing was wrong with that... the defenders head went down not the foot up!
Satisfied with this first half?
Free kick chance for Brum
Cleared, sort of
Finally a goal kick
Tony told me about the goal that wasn't counted for Palace. Did you see it? A travesty apparently. Warnock is doing his nut
Both sides playing out the end of the half. Are Brum satisfied with merely being one down?
Not really satisfied.
United have to be better than this
Didn't see it yet. I hate Warnock, though.
HOW DID FLETCHER NOT SCORE!!!!!!
Classic picture of our buddy Neil
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1206884/Crystal-Palace-boss-Neil-Warnock-rages-Bristol-Citys-Gary-Johnson-Freddie-Sears-disallowed-goal.html
Half time.. The stadium is silent at half. I didn't even know the whistle went!
I have the first VSS link going for half time. It is Sky and the sound is good
Here for the second half.
Unbelievable Palace video
They were robbed!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L97-WnPglbQ
Morning Gooner
You must have had a nice night sleep after that display yesterday
http://hqsportz.net/chan1.html is an Irish link that's really clear.
I have the VSS Sky link working well. It is the first one
For the Palace "goal"... the ball hit the back stansion.
Thanks for the picture of Neil Warnock. I hope his heart was stressed by that fit.
I needed to give my voice a rest, yes.
Still, watching the woeful DC United display against "guaranteed 3-points Toronto" brought me closer to earth.
I'm glad to be here in time for the highlights of first half. Bit of action at both ends. Crazy.
Take a look at the video
Morning, Gooner! Sorry to hear about D.C. United. Disappointing. Still...6-1, eh?
You're right, Dave. Palace were completely robbed. Couldn't happen to a nicer team.
Teams are out..
Giggs coming on for Nani
Come on Giggs, get a goal to make it 17 years of scoring in the Prem
Great shot by Rooney from miles out saved
Ahh, too bad. I'm enjoying watching Nani.
Does that tosser Martin Taylor who broke Eduardo's leg still play for Brum?
Good effort from Rooney.
So, what scoreline would satisfy you, mate? 2-0? 3-0?
Good possession by United but not creating much
So, old men Giggs and Scholesy on for the second half. It's like an episode of "I Love the 90s" on VH1.
At least three
That would take us above Mad City(S. Dahgren copyright)
You think about United's decade was the 90s
We won 5 championships in the 90s
We won SIX in the 00's
Nice cross by Valencia but comes to nothing
Just taken off Berba's head!
I can actually here the crowd!!
Fabio tries a shot from Blackburn...just a wee bit ambitious.
Don't pass it back to Fosters feet!!!!
Phew, he cleared it safely
Not pleased right now
United don't look dangerous!
A very pedestrian performance
Where is the performance like Fulham a couple of years ago? Came out at 200 miles an hour and were four up within 19 minutes!
Brum have had their chances today.
I agree... again.. not happy
Even if we win, I won't be happy
Ref plays advantage but doesn't come to anything and it is a free kick. Well refereed.
Who will take it?
I would love it if we score from our first attempt
Roon? Giggs?
Giggs shot deflected for a corner
Giggs with the free kick...just over.
I dunno, there's plenty for Man U supporters to be happy about. Look at how you just carved them open there.
I've always thought Man U are the most professional in outlook of any English team. They raise there game when they have to and only occasionally get caught out for doing so.
Time for Michael Owen?
Phew
McFadden should have done better there!!
I could see Brum getting a goal
United really need a second
Just over 20 to go
Gooner's right - they're doing what they need to. McLeish has Brum organized enough that they're not going to just roll over. You can't expect 5-0 every weekend.
I agree but there needs to be more chances created than there has been today
Owen and Anderson to come on
Berba and Sholes to come off?
Berba has header cleared off the line
Headed off the line! That was nearly #2.
I'd like to see Owen get one, even off the bum.
United have taken an umpteen number of short corners! Why?
I read a magazine years ago joking about short corners. The year 2035, the year the discovery of advantage of the short corner
Useless shot by Scholes!
Owen on for Berba
Come on Mikey
Wes Brown on for Evans
Fletcher picks up a yellow.
15 to go
Old Trafford being silent again
What's your issue with the short corner?
Oh, that was a close call....
Is it ever successful?
ooh, Foster saves United
Where's the linesman?
As for the short corner... why take it short and have to beat a man before the ball goes over instead of having a free cross?
Short corners should be banned. They are a waste of time and a test of my patience.
Come on United.. get a second!
Thank you Gooner... at least somebody understands!
10 to go
You don't have to be bleedin' Andy Gray to see that they are 99% pathetic.
Valencia hasn't done much today
He doesn't seem to want to shoot!
Keane and Defoe to start for Spurs
What a shocker!!!! Gerrard is fit of Cost Del Pool or should they be called Real Mersey
Great cross by Giggs.. just wide by Rooney
I'd agree that he's been off his feed.
Owen should study the way Inzhagi has managed to keep going. Mikey doesn't have the jets to get onto the balls he's being fed, so he needs to take up better positions.
I think United are the team to create those goals for Owen
Under 5 to go
Useless by Valencia again
I think Owen will score goals for United when he gets a chance to play. I'm not sure Berba is up to the job of scoring 15+, which is surely what Fergie is expecting. I reckon United will be shopping for a striker next summer.
Berbatov has really surprised me. I thought he would be brilliant for United
No question, but he's too deep to get past quicker and younger defenders with too much ground to cover.
You look at what Inzaghi does. Always on the shoulder of the last defender, frequently offside tbf, but I bet it would work for Owen.
Keep it tight United
United blow it twice.
Valencia should have shot. Rooney should have done better with his control!
I agree with Gooner
3 added minutes
Come on
Inzaghi type move by Mikey... you called it Gooner
Valencia shoots horribly!
OWEN MISSES!!!
BUGGER!!!
Never been a Berba fan. We played Leverkuesen in the CL when he was with them. We were diabolical in defense, the Cygan years. The commentator went on and on about this new Bulgarian forward, yadda-yadda. He made French Fester seem like Bobby Moore combined with der Kaiser.
He's not improved and has only added sloth to what he brings to the game.
Bollocks, Owen should have had that.
1-0, and three points Davey.
It's over!
Phew!
Not too happy with the performance. It is not the United way!
We are behind Arsenal, Stoke, WIgan, West Ham and Mad City(S. Dahlgren tm)
That's it - three points in the bag. I'm sure that's how Fergie will see it. He's got some questions to answer in his mind, but I wouldn't bet against the wily Scotsman figuring those answers out over the course of a long season.
Our first 4 games are all in the Greater Manchester area.
This one, at Burnley, at Wigan and home to Arsenal
In other words, joint-first.
Still got the Sky coverage on.
Pre game for Spurs
Do want the Whites to win Gooner?
You're taking the piss, surely. And yes, a comment like that, I will call you Shirley.
Lovely balance to recover from the headed attempt to get the rebound on the half volley.
Gus Poyet is taking up BDB's point that United need a forward that can get +20 this year. SAF's done it before though.
Ref was in a terrible position to see Berba's penalty shout. Linesman on that side was in the other half. Clear pen however.
Do you really want Costa to win?
They will be more of a threat than Spurs
Ossie Ardilles said that Glen Hoddle was a good as Maradona without the pace!
The Teams
Tottenham: Gomes, Corluka, King, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Palacios, Huddlestone, Modric, Keane, Defoe. Subs: Cudicini, Hutton, Bentley, Pavlyuchenko, Crouch, Naughton, O'Hara.
Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Insua, Kuyt, Mascherano, Lucas, Babel, Gerrard, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Voronin, Benayoun, Spearing, Kelly, Dossena, Ayala.
Plenty of the season for them to lose. I can't support Spurs. Too many players that I despise. And Redknapp is on my s**t-list for suggesting that he was in for Patrick Vieira. Typical grasping-second-rate-North-London BS.
I'd love to see them finish 13th or 14th again.
Sorry, but I am in the white camp today
From Ramesh, Liverpool fan, via text on 81111: "How is it that Spurs have a stronger bench than us? Our squad looks so thin, a couple of injuries and we're done."
It's not only Ossie's knees that have gone all trembly then.
Hoddle was an excellent English player, but he wasn't even as good as any of a handful of contemporary Italian players, much less possibly the greatest of all time.
Jamie Redknapp is saying that Alonso is going to be missed.
Who does Jamie want to win today?
Played for both clubs. Dad is manager?
He is on the Sky pre-game with Glenda
Glenda is the Spurs man... I guess Jamie is the Costa man
Ramesh, we'll see if that's a strong Spurs bench, or just the same group of no-bollocks chokers as last year.
Liverpool tbf, are hurtin' with the loss of Alonso and Arbeloa. I'll reserve judgment for now about whether they've got sufficient replacements. They do have a habit of bringing along their academy players to good effect.
I can't be bothered with Glen.
His faith is a mean-spirited bunch of holier-than-thou bollocks that seems to represent his true nature more than that of former excellent player.
I don't like him either
Where did your brother bugger off to?
Where is my brother period!
Bob might be Skyping Mom and Dad in the break between games.
And I'll be off upstairs to watch the game on the telly in a moment.
Great odds
Carragher to score an own goal 50-1
ESPN Sportscenter just showed Rooney's goal
Becks got a straight red last night
Talk to you later
Drogs with the #1 play of the day on ESPN
I would love Costa to get off to a rotten start and blow the league before November!!!
Great tribute again to Sir Bobby Robson
FSC is slightly ahead of my Sky coverage
I guess my complaint worked!!
We're off
Not much happening in the beginning
Corner to Real Mersey
Comes to nothing
Corner to Spurs... comes to nothing
Nasty collision between both center backs of Costa
First yellow card for a tackle from Lennon. It was just late
The card wasn't exactly yellow... more of a florescent green
Skrytl seems to be having double vision!
Tough to mark four strikers!!
What a save by Pepe!!
Keane should have scored!
Keane denied again by Pepe
Spurs are making all the chances
Costa haven't done diddly
Defoe goes close with a header
Keane has another chance but hits it high and wide
He should have had a hat-trick!
Will Crouch and Pava come on?
It has been all Spurs. Costa have created very little
Free kick chance for Spurs
Into the wall by Huddlestone but the rebound is thundered into the top corner by Ekotto
A ROCKET!!
1-0 to Spurs. Very much deserved
Half time at WHL
A deserved lead for the team in white
United vs Wigan are live on ESPN 2 next Saturday!
FSC just told us
Still not on the guide!
The Celtic Arsenal match is on Tuesday at 5
Tape delay for the latest Battle of Britain
Hello guys .
Sorry I'm late . At least you got the
3 points Dave . Come on Tottenham .
What a run by Lennon!!
Shame it didn't come to anything!
Tony
I am flying solo at the minute
FSC have CL games on Tuesday and Wednesday. No Prem games!
Gerrard hits one just wide. Gomes probably got a touch but no corner given
Costa haven' created much
Tony,
happy with the 3 points but not the performance.
Shame Owen didn't score with almost the last kick of the match
If this result holds up, there would be no draws in the Prem this week
10 teams have 3 points
10 teams have 0
Defoe sets up Palacios, well saved by Pepe
He has been Costa's best player
Run by Johnson and taken down by Gomes
Stonewall penalty
Gerrard... scores down the middle
Very undeserved!
I leave for a few minutes to pick up a friend of the boys and miss Spurs second. Just looked at it. Great header!!
I have been impressed by Spurs today
Keane with a thunderbolt parried by Pepe
I know I shouldn't say this but Torres has done nowt today
