Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

USA Squad for Mexico Qualifier @ the Azteca

USA's Roster for Mexico Trip
Here's the list for Wednesday's qualifier against Mexico at Azteca.....

Goalkeepers: Tim Howard, Brad Guzan.
Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra, Oguchi Onyewu, Jonathan Spector, Jay DeMerit, Steve Cherundolo, Jonathan Bornstein, Chad Marshall.
Midfielders: Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Benny Feilhaber, Ricardo Clark, Stuart Holden, Jose Francisco Torres.
Forwards: Landon Donovan, Brian Ching, Jozy Altidore, Charlie Davies, Conor Casey.

Go after them with the most attacking looking XI possible or play it tight and hope to snatch enough to win? WWBBD?

Thanks for posting, Gooner. Of that squad, I'd plump for a 4-5-1 with the following:

Howard, Spector, DeMerit, Gooch, Bornstein, Bradley, Clark, Dempsey, Donovan, Feilhaber and Davies.

Yes, agreed. The idea of starting Ching in that heat and altitude is not one I would approve of.

And though Torres plays in Mexico, I just think it might get to him playing against his ancestral homeland. Already he's been taking boatloads of criticsm this week for his US caps. Save him for when he's seasoned and go with Feilhaber.

Every one of the starting XI better strap up and stand up. This is a golden opportunity to beat Mexico and put the Azteca hoodoo down once and for all.

I agree. But it's probably going to be a snatch and grab rather than a game in which we dominate them.
