Boro and Sheffield United have got the new season off to a rather tepid start with a 0-0 draw on Friday evening. I'm hoping for a bit better this morning.

Division 1 play has officially kicked off with Gillingham at home to Swindon. No score there so far.

Southhampton and Millwall have started and I've got a nice stream up through Atdhe. Good start to the season. The Saints, of course, start with a ten point deduction, so we won't be worrying about them for a while.

7:51 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

It's all Millwall in the early going.

7:52 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

The Gills have scored the first Division 1 goal of the season through Bentley.

7:56 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I've lost the Soton stream but have another up through Justin of Soccer Saturday.

Sven Goran Ericksson, the new "Director of Football" at Notts County, interviewed by Jeff Stellings right now.

Not a lot of action yet at St. Mary's. 0-0 20 minutes in.

8:12 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

This match is seriously putting me to sleep. Might have a wee kip.

8:28 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Soton have the ball in the net but it's called back for offside. New boss Alan Pardew not pleased.

8:30 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Millwall nearly in there but for some desperate defending by Chris Perry.

8:34 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Half time at St. Mary's. Still 0-0.

i now have SS and Sotton MIllwall on in two different windows! It is good to get the season going again!
I have given up on England in the Fourth Test

Southampton really need a win here!

8:54 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I don't understand the fans these days. I know it is so much more expensive these days but show up for your teams opening game!

8:56 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Southampton have scored. Well done Saints. I guess you can root for them. They are way behind your lot

8:57 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Gillingham are three up against Swindon

9:07 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Well, I dozed off for about half an hour with SS in the background and of course the goals started flying in. James Beattie opened the scoring for the Saints but they were then pegged back by a penalty. It's 1-1 at St. Mary's.

Meanwhile, Gillingham have raced away to a 5-0 win over the woeful Swindon defense.

9:28 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Morning, Dave! Good to have you on board for the beginning of the season.

9:29 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I was sitting on my new porch and missed the Millwall equalizer

9:37 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Soton and Millwall seem to be settling for a draw. That'll leave the Saints on -9 points.

9:38 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

How's the new house, mate?

9:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

BTW, I don't think it as James Beatie that scored

9:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The new house is fantastic!!
You'll have to come and visit soon!

9:40 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Will do, mate. We're planning to take a trip out your way in October. Karen's got a conference in Williamstown.

9:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

So Southampton get up to -9

9:41 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

You're absolutely right. I was half asleep and thought I heard Beattie. It was some bloke named Patterson.

9:41 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Did you sign up for Simon's Fantasy League? I've got a team called Elland Road Heroes. It's all ex-Leeds boys.

9:42 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Sounds like the Burton manager is a Yank!

9:43 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Leeds kick off at home to Exeter to start their 09/10 season in approximately fifteen minutes. No Fabian Delph, who was scooped up by Villa for £6 million the other day, but I'm still hopeful. It's still the dynamic duo of Beckford and Becchio up front.

9:46 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Luton - "the Manchester United of the Blue Square Premier." What do you reckon, Dave?

9:50 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Aren't you the handy man, eh? Best of luck with it. That's what scares me about home ownership. I'm hopeless at DIY.

14. Jonathan Howson

4. Michael Doyle (on loan from Coventry)

16. Bradley Johnson

They lost Delph(?) to Villa, right?

10:11 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Burton Albion have had a disastrous start to their first ever Football League season. Early lead for Shrewsbury.

10:11 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Crystal Palace are 1-0 down at home to Plymouth.

10:12 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Yeah, Fabian went to Villa for £6 million. Not enough, for my taste.

10:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

myp2p doesn't seem to be up and running. Have you visited it lately? Is it off the air?
I still go to atdhe first. I like the Justin TV to SS

10:14 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I was on myP2P this morning, but I've been sticking with the Dragon channel through Justin for the SS.

Crikey, Norwich are 0-1 down at Carrow Road. I fancied them as favorites to win Division 1.

10:16 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Still going pear shaped for England at Headingley
All out for 102!
The Aussies just lost two quick wickets but they are still 400 for 8

10:16 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

All Leeds so far. Beckford's had one cleared off the line. Becchio's had a header tipped over. Good early signs.

10:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Norwich are losing at home!

10:17 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Yeah, the 4th Test is all over, eh? England seem really erratic.

10:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

10:19 AM

10:23 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Norwich - 0-3 down!!!!!!!

10:24 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Christian Dailly has put Division 1 new boys Charlton 1-0 up. They're another side I'm a bit scared of.

Just when you post about Mad Citeh, use a @ so I get my residuals.

Morning chaps. I took a pill early this morning because I wasn't falling asleep and have just managed to greet the day now.

I hate the idea of Norwich being so rubbish that they fall into league 2. I'm surprised that they've started the season this badly. You'd have thought they have the structure to compete and challenge to get right up again. This will be a blow to those aspirations.

Good to see Leeds starting well. Good luck this season mate.

11:28 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

It's a dismal first day in Division 1 for Norwich, who are 0-5 down at Carrow Road. I'll be looking for a boozy gee-up speech from Delia at full time.

11:29 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I take it you're no fan of Taras Bulba? Give it some love or caption Pooty-poot yourself!

Sorry, mate. I was waiting to see if the Pooty Poot thread would gather some more comments. But thanks for posting. You know I'm good for a pint any time.

I would like another goal - perhaps from Becchio - to seal the victory and press home our advantage.

11:36 AM

Norwich have pulled back a consolation goal. 1-5 there.

11:36 AM
