Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Last Chance Bus to South Africa

We haven't had a chance to natter about the upcoming World Cup playoffs. Here they are:

Ireland v. France
Portugal v. Bosnia
Greece v. Ukraine
Russia v. Slovenia
Costa Rica v. Uruguay
Bahrain v. New Zealand

First legs: November 14; Second legs: November 18

Your thoughts about who will emerge from this lot?

Well, I'm certainly hoping that either the US or England get the winner of Bahrain and NZ.

I have a sneaky suspicion that if there's a shock result in any of these it's Ireland somehow cobbing together a result that gets them past France. Why? Two words. Raymond Domenech.

The rest I see going to form. Portugal over Bosnia, Russia over Slovenia, Uruguay over Costa Rica. Greece? Ukraine? Echh, who cares? A pox on both of their boring houses.

Agreed on all of those points. My dream group for England is:

South Africa
England
Switzerland
New Zealand
