Champions League - Gameday 5!
It's getting down to the end of the group stage of the Champions League and suddenly there are some meaningful games out there. Take Group E, for example where Liverpool have it all on the line, needing a win away to Debrecen and an away win for Lyon at Fiorentina. Group F has the match of the day between Barca and Inter, neither of whom are completely safe and could be pipped on the last gameday by Rubin Kazan.
Oh, and there is a full schedule of Football League matches as well. You're not really still in the office today, are you? Come join me on the LOB!

The other fixtures today:
Group G
Rangers v. Stuttgart
Unlrea v. Seville
Group H
AZ v. Olympiacos
Arsenal v. Standard Liege
In L1, Leeds take on Leyton Orient at home. I'm looking for another 4-0 result.
In the early kick-off, Rubin Kazin are still deadlocked with Kiev. That will suit Barca and Inter to a tee. What odds on the big boys drawing today, eh?
Here are the teams for the big one:
Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Insua, Kuyt, Lucas, Mascherano, Aurelio, Gerrard, Ngog. Subs: Cavalieri, Aquilani, Benayoun, Kyrgiakos, Spearing, Skrtel, Dossena.
Debrecen: Poleksic, Bodnar, Meszaros, Mijadinoski, Fodor, Szelesi, Kiss, Szakaly, Czvitkovics, Laczko, Rudolf. Subs: Pantic, Ramos, Dombi, Komlosi, Bernath, Varga, Coulibaly.
So Stevie G. is fit but there's no Torres even on the bench. It's essentially the same side that struggled with Citeh at the weekend, with the useless Ngog up front alone with Kuyt in support. Benayoun and Aquilani are still relegated to the bench. I don't get it.
Odd choice to go with on FSC - they've got Fiorentina v. Lyon. Lot of Florentine's out there in the watching public, lads? What a load of numpties!
And we're off on what should be an enthralling afternoon.
First chance for Fiorentina and Kallstrom puts his header well over the bar from the corner.
It is all Liverpool in these very early stages as Debrecen are sitting with five players across the midfield. Will the Reds be able to break down stubborn opponents without Torres?
GOAL! David Ngog proves me wrong as he puts the Reds 0-1 up in Hungary. Fantastic start for Liverpool!
Can they pull out the miracle once again in the CL?!
The corner is nodded back across goal by Carragher to allow Ngog to apply a glanced finish which trickles in via the far post from close range. Dream start for Liverpool!
Bugger! Charlton are 1-0 up already to Bristol Rovers. That's got them up to 36 points, four short of Leeds now. I don't like it.
Norwich also 1-0 up against Brighton.
Debrecen are really struggling at set-plays. Aurelio whips a free-kick into the danger area and the ball almost drops kindly for Agger, but Poleksic pounces.
Real big chance here for Fiorentina! Santino off the post and then Gilardino pulls a great save out of the Lyon keeper.
And another from the corner!
Carlisle take the lead away to MK Dons. I quite like that.
Great stream up through Atdhe for the Liverpool match although I think it's in Hungarian.
Colchester are now 1-0 up. Results really not going our way this afternoon. Come on, you Whites. We need a goal now.
I'm back after a quick jaunt over to the college and Fiorentina have taken the lead through a penalty from Vargas.
Meanwhile, in L1, Charlton, Colchester and Norwich - our nearest and not so dearest rivals - are all 2-0 up. Still 0-0 at Elland Road.
The only good score so far is Carlisle who have jumped out to an unbelievable 0-3 lead at MK Dons.
Pique and Pedrito have given Barca a 2-0 lead over Inter. Jose and his lot might well spill out into the Europa League if Kazan can do something on the last day of play. They drew 0-0 today against Kiev.
Hey Bob,
I am here for a while
I am trying to get some coverage on the computer.
FSC has Fiorentina vs Lyon and MSG+ has Barca Inter
Liverpool have got a little bit sloppy, possibly because they know what is happening in Italy.
Yes, I have Gillette Soccer Special on p2p
Hey, mate! Welcome! It's not looking too good for the Reds right now.
Still looking for a goal for us at Elland Road. All of our rivals are winning.
Arsenal have taken a 35th minute lead through Nasri.
Stuttgart are leading 0-1 over Rangers, but then Rangers are hopeless even at home.
Nearly at the interval now.
Good penalty there from Vargas. I'd missed it live so it's good to see the replay.
Charlton have let a goal in
MK Dons have scored two quick goals in two minutes to pull it back to 2-3. Five goals in the first half - good value for money, eh?
Lovely - Bristol Rovers pegging Charlton back.
Arsenal two up!
It's United old boy and Ugliest Man in Football award winner Luke Chadwick with those two MK Dons goal.
Fiorentina one up at half time
Leeds are all square at half
So that's half time in Florence. Liverpool may be doing a valiant job in Hungary but it's all for naught unless Lyon decide to give it a go. Even if Fiorentina draw, Liverpool are into the Europa League along with Mersey rivals Everton. Now that would make a tasty semi final, eh?
Denilson with that second Arse goal right before half time.
I'm not a happy chappy yet. True we're four points up and have a game in hand, but we need to win the home matches against the scrubs like Orient. They're raaabish!
It's the amateur hour on FSC for the half-time show. Bretos, Bobby McMahon and cheeky chappy Warren Barton, who keeps referring to the Italian side as "Florentino."
Costa have kicked off
FSC are probably behind the time
Uh oh - Clint Dempsey's muscling into Double T's lucrative useless soccer gadgets market with the Soccer Wave.
As usual, FSC run on Brazilian time.
Daniel Agger's got a huge bandage on his head after that clash of heads on Saturday that saw him come off early.
on FSC, it still hasn't started in Italy
Lyon go close
Best chance of the night for Lyon. Panic with a decent shot after a nice move. Well wide though.
Still scoreless at Elland Road after 30 secs
The guv brought the Leeds fans out 6 minutes early for the second half
MK Dons equalize immediately at the beginning of the second
Barca still 2-0 up on Jose's Inter.
Have you got SS on the computer?
I have Costa on one window and SS on the other.
Big Phil not a happy camper
He says that Costa need a second goal
SS a second behind by window
Sotton beating Hartlepool 2-1
What is going on at Elland Road? I usually get updates through Sporting Life but for some reason it's blank today.
We need a goal - come on!
Stuttgart are two up in Glasgow
Costa go close. Well saved by Keeper
sniff sniff... I smell a goal at Elland Road by the team in White coming soon
Bristol Rovers tie it up against Charlton as SS was there
Thanks, mate. I hope so!
SS say that the game in Italy is 5 minutes behind. Maybe FSC aren't as bad I thought
Fantastic news about Charlton!
That sounds about right - I wonder it was so late kicking off?
Cambridge score to make it 1-2
Tremendous tackle from Liverpool old boy Sisoko there. Might have saved his old team there.
Saving tackle by Lyon stop Fiorentina taking a two goal lead
Twenty minutes left now in Hungary. Still 0-1 for Liverpool. It's moot though unless Lyon can raise their game.
I know that I normally always root for the English but I wouldn't care if Costa are out
Cambridge tie it up
You'll have to tell me when to take the lucky Leeds shirt off.
Brighton get a goal back at Carrow Road
Should have been off LONG AGO
Are you bare chested yet?
Right - you're the boss - it's coming off!
You're too sexy for the shirt
Carlisle have retaken the lead in Milton Keynes
It is time... LEEDS TIME
Charlton retake the lead
I'm back without the Leeds shirt!
Ach! Bugger!
Norwich are 3-1 up
Thank you for the flattering comment!
The Canaries in fourth now. They scare me a bit.
Yossi coming on for Costa
You can have one scary team... not two
FSC are just ahead of SS
Did Leeds kick off at 7:45 or 8
Alright then. Charlton it is.
I think you and Norwich will be the two
We kicked off at 7:45. So there should be about fifteen minutes left. Plenty of Leeds time.
Man U reserves beat Hull reserves 2-1
That would suit me just fine.
Who's in your reserve side?
The natives are restless in Florence.
That's a quality name - Bafetimbi!
Panic buys a free kick. Here's a real chance for Lyon. Frei didn't look too clever on that last save.
It is official... LEEEEDS TIME
10 to go in Italy
Thanks, mate.
Come on, you Whites!
Noriwch four one up
Two minutes of added time for Costa
Lyon go very close... well saved
Debrecen go so close!!!
Leeds time
Costa have won 1-0
Charlton 4-2 up
all eyes on Italy
Come on!
Costa all looking at a TV screen in the tunnel
Exeter tie it up with Millwall
Great sight of all Costa players watching the TV
Into injury time in Italy
Oh, close thing there from Lisandro.
Lyon go so close... Costa players all react
Great scenes
Arsenal win 2-0
LEEDS SCORE!
GRADEL IN THE 89th
Does a draw do Liverpool any good? I don't think it does.
Unbelievable! We did it again. Lovely jubbly! It does smell like our year, doesn't it.
Barca win 2-0
It sure does
Costa are out
The camera was focused right in Stevie G's face as the final whistle goes.
Again great scenes!
Big blow for Rafa and co. Are they at least assured of Europa?
That result puts a lot of pressure on Inter Milan. It would have been even worse for them if Kazan had won today.
That will make them play a lot of games on Sunday because of the Thursday games
Sotton and Charlton both win
IT'S OVER
LEEDS HAVE WON!!!
WELL DONE MATE!
MK Dons lost 3-4
I am off to college
Congrats again
I will be around for the CL games and a couple of Prem games
Cheerio
UWS
Cheers, mate. I won't be around tomorrow unfortunately. We're headed to Cleveland for a day out tomorrow. Best of luck to United!
Sorry, couldn't join you yesterday. I was kicking a ball against this magic curvy gadget that Clint Dempsey sold me.
Well done Leeds. Well done Arsenal, but losing Gibbs for 3 months and Gallas at least through the Chelsea match hurts badly. We're pretty beaten up right now.
I was delighted to see that Inter have one foot in the Europa after yesterday. Maureen doesn't look half as good when he only has Fiat's pile to spend. Long may that twat suffer.
