Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Peter Reid expects that this will be a "blood and thunder" affair, and appropriately Arsene is set to give the wily old veteran Sol Campbell his Arsenal re-debut today. Theo is back in the side as well. Should be fascinating.
I've got a terrific stream up through VSS. Channel 1.
We're all set to go then. Arsenal to get us started.
And at less than a minute on the clock, here's the first Rory Delap long throw.
And GOAL! How do Stoke keep doing it. Delap launches a trademark throw and Ricardo Fuller nods home.
1-0 Stoke!
Fabianski does better with Delap's second effort. One wonders why he didn't come for the first one.
The Arsenal midfield starting to click.
Campbell did well to ease Fuller off the ball. The Arsenal backfour starting to settle after that initial shock.
Looks like Matthew Etherington has a problem here. He's gone off for treatment.
Etherington is fine to continue and is suddenly streaking down the left side but just can't find Fuller with his ball.
Arsenal did come back twice in midweek to beat Bolton 4-2 at the Emirates. They made need similar heroics today.
Fuller is really making a nuisance of himself today. He completely out-muscled Traore there.
Good morning,
I am here and about to look for a link
Delap lines up to launch another long throw....
This time the Arsenal defense sort it out.
Morning, Dave! I'm on Channel 2 of VSS.
Cheers,
Link 1 wasn't working
Is the other match on FSC (Scunny Citeh)
I'd like to see Arsenal youngster Emmanuel-Thomas really leading the line more confidently.
I'm assuming we'll get the Citeh match on FSC, yeah. Another chance to see my new favorite team, right?
Just checked and nothing is on FSC today!
Really? Scandalous. Oh well. Never mind.
That was a pen in my book. He didn't go down but he was definitely fouled
Agreed.
Interesting free kick chance here for Arsenal.
The Arse tie it up late in the half
I don't know how that shot got through everyone
GOAL! Nice training pitch free kick with Fab sliding it to Denilson whose deflected shot has leveled it here right on the stroke of half time.
1-1 Game on!
When is the draw?
Who do you want?
Chelsea at the Bridge?
Arsenal at the Em?
Citeh at the Eastlands?
You don't want Notts County at home!
How's greedy Campbell doing?
Why isn't he with his lawyer figuring how to put Pompey out of business!
Good period of pressure for the Arse right at the end of the half.
I'll take Reading at home please.
I assume that it's after the Citeh match today, right?
I'll take a Premiership side away again, please. Another big pay day for us.
Okay, Reading at home
Let me see, you beat Manchester United away
You lose to Carlisle at Home
Half-time then. The Stoke game plan seemed to be going gang-busters until that that Denilson. Now it's anyone's game in the second half.
I changed my mind. Reading at home would be the conventional thinking but I reckon a Premiership side away would be better for the club's finances.
Big week in the EPL
Villa Arsenal
Chelsea Brum
I'll take two draws in those
Channel 2 seems to have packed in, so I'm on to Channel 3 VSS. It's another Setanta link.
I'm sure you would. I'll take a full three points away to Swindon on Tuesday, ta very much. I'm hoping that yesterday's heroics will give us a gee up.
Teams back out for the second half at the Britannia.
That was a nasty chop by Huth on Vela. Should have been a yellow card for sure.
Fabianski looked a bit weak again on that corner.
Good pressure here from Arsenal at the beginning of the half. Stoke seem to be out of ideas.
An hour gone now and still no breakthrough.
Stoke seem to have clicked into a higher gear now, sensing that they won't have a better chance to win this tie at the Emirates.
Sorry, I had to do some thing around the house
You guys have Swindon and then Colchester before the replay. I heard Grayson say that on Sky Sports News. Which is home and which is away?
THREE BIG GUNS COMING ON FOR THE ARSE
Arse Shaven (hehehe),Eduardo and Ramsey on
Silvestre down hurt. He will be okay... better be, Wenger just used his subs
He looks a little iffy right now
Silvestre is down in a heap now, which gives the Arsenal side a chance to take a breather. Twenty minutes of agony left for them. I'm sure they're dreaming of a quick shower, getting on the coach and getting hell out of Stoke.
We've got Swindon away and Colchester at home to come. Then I assume Spurs at home in midweek next week, right?
Is Silvestre back? I missed it if he returned
Stoke score!!
That was a good goal
Great run, nice header!
United, Costa and Arsenal?
I see Silvestre is back
GOAL! It's Fuller again. Denilson couldn't keep up with Sidibe who put one right on Fuller's noggin.
2-1 Stoke!
just over 12 minutes for Arsenal to get back in this one
Just like at Upton Park.... if they score, they will score two
Another free kick for the Arse...
Can they get right back in. No, the free kick is deflected out for a goalkick.
Arsenal definitely taking it to them now. I think there may well be an equalizer in this one.
Campbell burned on the header... He should have done better
I agree with you - if Arsenal score in the next few minutes, they'll go on to win it. Stoke seem to sit back after they've scored instead of pushing on.
Big Sol is definitely not the solution to Arsenal's defensive frailty.
Channel 1 is working again with the ITV stream. Much better than Setanta.
Why did all the panelist except Jeff Stelling think he was a brilliant signing?
He couldn't hack it with Notts County!
STOKE GET A THIRD!!!
I am stunned!
Nice cross by Etherington
Where was the marking in the box??
GOAL! Whitehead with Stoke's third! Tuncay did well there to find Etherington who found Whitehead with a lovely pass. Some suspicion of offside there but the linesman kept the flag down. Surely it's game over now.
Cheers.
I just changed links
It's four! No, Tuncay's goal has been chalked off for handball.
BLOODY HELL #4
Nope, called back for handball
Stoke better not think the have won this
Almost into stoppage time now....
Is the draw on ITV after this game?
Hope so
Four minutes of added time
You still think Arsenal can score two!?
Revenge for '71 and '72?
Were any of these blokes born yet?
It's getting late but if they score one...
Champions League '99
The FA Cup Preview show said it was the first time in 51 years that Costa or United weren't in the Fourth Round. I wonder how many year since those two plus Arsenal weren't in the Fifth Round?
SOMEONE PLEASE KNOCK OUT CHELSEA!!
Not a priority competition? I think Arsenal NEED to win a trophy!
That's it!
Stoke have knocked out Arsenal
Sorry Gooner! Now you and I can fully support Bob's lot!
That's it! Three of the four big clubs in the Premiership are out. Stunning.
Sorry Gooner - not to be your day. I'm sure that it's an even more bitter pill coming from Stoke.
I am off to pick up Thomas
I 'll be be back for the next match. I hope I don't miss the draw when I am gone
Chelsea vs Leeds Utd/Spurs
That's a nice way to put it, Dave.
Ah well - next up. My new favorites, Manchester City at Scunthorpe. Should be interesting.
I am back and have nice link for the last match of the fourth round
I go for two second and Citeh take a third minute lead!
Petrov with a rocket of a shot.
Citeh for the Final
Remember, the last five seasons the team that knock Boro out have been beaten Finalist
That didn't take long. I had barely found a decent stream before Citeh had taken the lead. What a shot from Petrov!
Sounds like someone else has a thing for Citeh, eh Dave?
Just saw Soccernet saying that Robinho is quitting Citeh for Santos
Looks like Benjani and Petrov up front with Stephen Ireland tucking in behind them. Where's Carlito?
Bite your tongue!
I have an ITV link going strong
Bloody hell - they're not messing about. Robinho's on the park too!
I'll be back soon.
Taking Shadow for a walk with Kathy
Where did you find an ITV link? I've got a French language one going. The picture is great but I'd love an English language one.
Sounds like a nice Sunday activity. Go on then!
First go at goal from Scunny. Not a bad effort.
Scunny look completely overwhelmed at the back.
Scunny are slowly trying to dig themselves back into this match. They're a decent side but somehow even if they equalize at some point, you always think that Citeh have more goals in them.
Oh, now that was a close thing. The Scunny forward rose to meet a nice cross and crashed a header against the bar. The ball came down and was cleared without crossing the line.
When exactly will Mancini take the scarf off? One gets the feeling that he'll be wearing it at Wembley in May if they keep winning.
I am back
VSS #1
Robinho really should have done better there. One on one with the keeper and he shot tamely into his arms.
Scunthorpe have tied it up!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice finish
That was offside.... but who cares
GOAL! Well, that was coming. Scunny have equalized and they thoroughly deserved it. Citeh have inexplicably taken their foot off the gas and have paid the price.
1-1!
Robinho got a card for complaining to the linesman
Well offside!
What was that guy looking at?
Cheers, mate. That was a short walk. It's a wonder that Shadow had any time to do his business. Is it cold there?
Nice strike by Hayes for the leveler wasn't it?
We have a couple of loops in the neighborhood. We didn't do the big loop but the medium loop
We had a nice little run down our street too
Running, eh? You're a better man than I. The only time I do any running these days is if someone's chasing me!
Lost the link....
Robinho hits row Q
Lost my link but just refreshed and it comes back
As for running, it is a VERY short street
The commentator is right - Robinho started well and was a big part of the move that led to the goal. But he's been hopeless since. I'd have him off at the interval. This is exactly the kind of match where he disappears and can't be bothered.
I'm back too. Coming up on half time now....
The color guy is right - how committed are Citeh to winning this one?
Great back pass by Robinho
Every step he makes, the Scunny fans sing "What a waste of money"
What a rubbish finish from Robinho!
Under Hughes, he put out a strong side for all the games because he knew the importance of winning something
Citeh retake the lead from their fullback
The Scunny fans are right. I'd be selling that bugger off while they can still make the money back.
Keeper jumps over the ball as he came out for the ball
Ireland hits one just wide
GOAL! 2-1 Citeh! The fullback with the goal. That was an impressive attack.
Half time
Is the draw now? Or after the match?
Ireland nearly nets #3 and that's all there is to this half. As I suspected, Citeh have just enough quality to see off a plucky Scunny. I could see Scunny scrapping away and getting a second but Citeh should easily be able to net a third, fourth and maybe fifth if they can be bothered.
Bet you that the draw is after the match... bugger, I am leaving for Jon's game now
When I get back, I will not check any websites, I will come straight to this post and follow your coverage of the draw. Are you going to let me down?
ESPN has Real Madrid on at 3 o'clock!
Take Care Bob
Best of luck in the draw and midweek
Dave
Cheers, mate!
The second half has been slightly delayed by an illness to a linesman but we're just about set to kick off again.
Mancini has withdrawn Nigel De Jong at half time. That wouldn't have been my choice but who knows.
GOAL! Wallop! Silvinho from about thirty yards giving the keeper no chance.
1-3 Citeh!
Robinho should have finished it there. Three bites at the cherry.
An hour gone now and you wonder if Scunny have any answer now. Citeh still have plenty of quality on the bench to draw upon.
Well, well well. Just when I counting plucky Scunny out, they're back in it.
2-3! Game on!
The Championship side really giving it a go now, with their home crowd roaring them on. This is another excellent Cup tie in a season of tremendous Cup action.
Here comes a change for Scunny and not before time. They've got under ten minutes to find a miraculous equalizer.
Time running out for Scunny now. Almost into time added on.
Five minutes to come then....
Two minutes left. At this point yesterday, I'd given up the ghost on Leeds and we still managed to come back. Who knows in this funny old game, eh?
Full-time: 2-4 Citeh
No miracles today then. A highly polished performance from Citeh, reinforcing my view that they are the new pretenders to the Big Four. They remind me a lot of that great Newcastle side under Keegan that ran United so close. That's four wins and a loss away to Everton from Mancini's first five matches with Citeh. Not a bad return.
Now for the draw. Let's have a nice one, please. I'll take another Premiership side away, please.
Wolves/Palace v. Villa
I've just lost the link as Citeh are pulled out of the hat.
Bolton vs. Spurs/Leeds!
Soton v. Pompey!
The full draw then:
Fulham v. Notts C./Wigan
Chelski v. Cardiff
Bolton v. Leeds/Spurs
Derby v. Birmingham
Reading v. WBA
Soton v. Pompey
Citeh v. Stoke
Wolves/Palace v. Villa
Great stuff!
Those ties to be played Febuary 13/14 - three weekends from now. Can't wait!
That's all for me today. Condolences again to Gooner for the tough loss today.
Thanks Bob... good draw!!
Love Southampton Portsmouth. I was thinking that might happen.
Lucky Chelski again!
Don't beat United and Spurs and then go down to Bolton!
