RIP Hank Jones (1918-2010)
The jazz world lost another giant on Monday with the death of pianist Hank Jones at the age of 91. Part of the great Jones jazz family, which included trumpeter Thad and drummer Elvin, Hank developed his reputation early on as accompanist for Ella Fitzgerald. I was lucky to see him perform several times over the year, the last time in Miyazaki, Japan as part of the "100 Golden Fingers" tour. I'll be listening to my favorite Hank album - the duet project with Charlie Haden "Steal Away" - this week in his honor.

It's sad to see all of these guys passing on now. We've always got the music however. What a legacy he left. RIP.
