Your Dream Festival Line-up
The All Songs Considered podcast recently asked it's listeners to create a dream music festival line-up of ten artists and/or bands, active or defunct, living or dead, that might get to out of the comfort of your living room and into the mud of a make-shift campsite. Here's mine, starting with the opener and ending with the headliner:
* Everything But the Girl acoustic
* Miles Davis 1958 Quintet
* Steely Dan
* Fela Kuti
* Parliament/Funkadelic
* The Jam
* Public Enemy
* Nirvana (with Kurt)
* Bob Marley and the Wailers
* Pink Floyd (with Syd)
What about the rest of you?
5 Comments:
Since The Beatles in 1961 were not a festival band!
Let me try this in order too, and will forget ten other bands. I'm appalled at my lack of women.
Belle and Sebastian
Arcade Fire
Wilco
Talking Heads
Lucinda Williams
The Clash
Otis Redding
The Who (ca. 1971)
Creedence Clearwater Revival (ca. 1969)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
There are various musical categories in this list, but these groups are representative of some of my musical tastes. Excellent choices!
I have spent a ridiculous number of minutes adding and chopping this lineup. These acts on one stage would get me out in the hot sun.
Microdisney
Warren Zevon
Thin Lizzy
Cheap Trick
Booker T and the MGS
The Specials
Style Council
The Band, Mavis Staples, and Wild Tchopatoulas Indians
Roxy Music
T-Rex
What an excellent topic . . .
Paul Weller & Elvis Costello (acoustic set, alternating each others song from the last millenium only) . . . to Pink Floyd . . . to the Grateful Dead (with Jerry (if you can have Kurt, I can have Jerry)) . . . to my headliner . . . Queen (with Freddy, always with Freddy) . . .
Hell yes Sir Trev you can have Jerry.
I have the complete Band, Warren Zevon, Phil Lynott, and Marc Bolan. You can have Jerry and Freddy.
