Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

As usual, the deer are under attack on ESPN2. Run Bambi Run!
Thank goodness that's over - the ESPN2 coverage of the derby has started.
Apparently there's been a bit of nonsense in the press between Samir Nasri and Billy Gallas who'll line up against his former teammates today. Nasri won't be shaking Billy's hand today. Cor!
Here are the sides for this afternoon's early match:
Arsenal: Fabianski, Sagna, Squillaci, Koscielny, Clichy, Song, Denilson, Nasri, Fabregas, Arshavin, Chamakh.
Subs: Szczesny, Rosicky, van Persie, Walcott, Wilshere, Djourou, Eboue.
Spurs: Gomes, Hutton, Gallas, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Jenas, Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Pavlyuchenko.
Subs: Cudicini, Bentley, Palacios, Crouch, Defoe, Bassong, Corluka.
Gooner must be tearing his hair out at this coverage. It's one Spurs old boy after another - first Tim Sherwood with memories of a famous goal followed by David Ginola.
There he goes - Samir Nasri pulling a Wayne Bridge on Billy Gallas. Definitely some bad blood there.
It'll be Adrian Healey chewing on his words alongside Efan Ekoku doing the commentary honors today.
And Spurs get us underway. The boos ringing out for Gallas straight away.
And almost immediately Gallas and Nasri have come together. Nasri has come away looking a bit dazed and chattering with the bench.
Bale and VDV combine to win an early corner off Sagna.
Bale nips in at the near post to flick on goal but Flappy collects fairly easily.
There is definitely some added spice to this encounter.
Interestingly Robin van Persie is included on the bench today by Arsene Wenger. I'm not sure this is really the match to stick him in, though. He'd prefer to have a run out at home against West Ham.
Oh - Bale went to sleep there and Fabregas took advantage, getting to the by-line. Couldn't find the right final ball in though.
Good morning BD. I did not realize that we would begin the day with the North London Derby.
Morning, MUR! Yes - it's a cracker. And as I type, Samir Nasri has squeezed a ball in from an impossible angle.
1-0 Arsenal!
WOW !!! WHAT A GOAL BY NASRI!! I THOUGHT HE MESSED UP AFTER ROUNDING GOMES,BUT HE TAPPED IN FORM A REALLY NARROW ANGLE. WHAT A LONG BALL . I THINK THAT WAS FROM CESC.
Assou-Ekotto definitely at fault there. He'd given up on the ball, thinking that Nasri couldn't get to it.
It seems as if the Gunners have done all the attacking in this match.
That goal temporarily puts the Gunners on top of the pile, a point ahead of Chelski, who clash with Brum later in the day.
A rash challenge there from Sagna on Bale and Phil Dowd gets the card out early.
Sagna is booked for a rather nasty tackle on Bale.
How's your week been, MUR. I've been playing catch up after my travels. Looking forward to the T-giving break.
We should be rooting for Spurs since the Gunners are in for first place with this goal.I did not expect to see them in first place at this stage of the season.
It looks like VDV has talked himself into the book there. No - just a bit of a bollocking from Dowd.
I have had a busy week. It's our anniversary this week, but I am not sure if we are going to do anything since my wife has been ill for over two weeks. This coming week should be a slower week since the girls and I have school on Monday and Tuesday only. My oldest daughter injured her thumb at school on Tuesday. I guess it has been an eventful week. How has your week been? Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving?
I'm sure that you and UWS will be rooting for Spurs today. I'll be keeping the faith with my brother - because of him, I've always had a soft spot for the Gunners. We spent many happy afternoons at Highbury as kids.
That was quite a run by Gallas and an excellent tackle by Song. It seems as if Gallas is out to prove a point to the Gunners in this derby.
Sorry to here that Elizabeth hasn't been feeling well. Give her and your daughter my best.
Yes - I'll be jumping in the car to drive down to D.C. for the holiday.
I was not aware that you had been to Highbury. Have you and Steve ever been to the Emirates?
Oh - Fab burst through there but he shanked his final shot wide of Gomes's post.
No - I definitely haven't and I thinkk Gooner has only been over in the summer recently. My dad used to be able to get all three of us into the side terraces for less than £5 in the good old 70s. I can't imagine how expensive it would be today.
Thank you BD. We are having Thanksgiving at our house this year. We are inviting a friend . I am sure you will have a great time at Casa Gooner.
Good bit of play for Spurs there ending with Lennon crossing to Kabboul who nodded wide.
Kaboul heads wide from a cross by Lennon. Spurs have come back into the game in the past few minutes.
GOAL! 2-0 Arsenal and Chamakh has put Arsenal fans into dreamland!
Fairly easy goal, with Fab feeding Arshavin. The ball in is great and the striker is first to it.
GOAL 2-0 ARSENAL AS CHAMAKH HAD A NEAT FINISH OFF A GREAT BALL FROM ARSHAVIN. THAT WAS A GREAT COUNTER AFTER SPURS HAD BEEN DOING ALL THE ATTACKING.
That goal was against the run of play
That's six goals now for Chamakh. He may well turn out to be the replacement that Wenger needed for Adebayor. The Gunners haven't really had an out and out striker since the days of Ian Wright. Great buy.
In response to your statement, I would not be surprised if you have to pay 50 Pounds , or is it Euros, for a decent seat. I cannot find the Pound symbol on my keyboard.
Everything is going through Fabregas. Spurs seem to really be missing the tackling of Palacios. Jenas really isn't the same kind of player. Cesc has been free to run things.
The UK is still a hold-out against the Euro, so it's pounds. You're probably right.
On my keyboard, the "£" symbol is Option+3 key.
I expected more from Spurs today. They've been in decent form recently, especially in Europe, but they've been bossed about here so far.
I have noticed that Spurs have not been able to get Gareth Bale on the ball. That was his first run of the match.
VDV has a free kick opportunity. You would think that these might be the best chance for Spurs to get back into this one, but it's wasted.
Hutton is called for Clichy. Arshavin curls the free kick straight to Gomes.
Some decent pressure to end the half from Spurs. The Gunners back four will have to be careful here.
The shot from Pavs deflects off of Koscielny. Spurs have not been able to take advantage of their corners.
Pat Rice has played in his fair share of North London derbies. He knows what this means.
He has coached his fair share as well.
There seemed to be a lot of Arsenal and Spurs old boys in the crowd - Tim Sherwood, Les Ferdinand, TH-14, Kenny Sansom and the like. A good reunion for all of them.
Typical Aaron Lennon play there. He used his pace to get free down the right but the final ball was straight to an Arsenal player.
Two minutes of stoppage time. I am sure that Arry will have plenty to say at halftime.Spurs are fortunate not to be three down as Chamakh's control was poor.
It's halftime and the Gunners lead 2-0
Half-time: 2-0 Arse.
Well, that will be very satisfying to Gooner. Spurs came into it in spurts but the home side bossed things for the most part.
Nice preview for the MLS Cup Final. It's not the best match-up this season, but I'll be watching nonetheless.
I'm keen to watch this show "Brewmasters" that they've been promoting non-stop this week. It premieres tomorrow at 10 pm.
Good morning fellas
I watched the first upstairs in bed
I am not sure if the Arse actually deserve to be two up!
The first goal was a gift. Gomes should have gotten it and then the defender should have blocked it at the post as well
Jermaine Defoe replacing Aaron Lennon as the teams come back out.
Morning, Lazybones! Great to have you on board.
Good morning UWS. I think the Gunners have been the better team. I hope Spurs can get something out of this match as it would help United.
The second half is underway.
The home side get us started for the second half.
I agree with MUR - I think Arsenal are good for their lead.
I didn't say they weren't the better team but I don't think they deserve a two goal lead
Why does Crouch not get a fair shake for club and country? All he does is score and set up goals but still has to sit the bench!
He has scored over 20 goals for England!
RVP warming up. As I stated before, this is the kind of tasty encounter that is the worst possible match for him to come back into. One strong challenge from Kabboul and he could be back to the training room. The boy is made of glass, after all.
I thought Cesc was through after going past Jenas, but Gallas made a great tackle.
Saw on a website that Sparky is saying Citeh would be doing better under him... just stir it up for tomorrow's clash
I agree with you there, UWS. For some reason, people seem to look at Crouch and peg him as unskillful because he's so ungainly looking. I'd have him in the England side every time. He's got the best scoring ratio in the current squad by a long chalk.
GOAL! Bale has struck for Spurs to get the game back to a buzz.
2-1!
Nice finish by Bale!!
2-1
Route One stuff
Very loose there at the back from the Gunners. Bale took his chance well though.
YES!!! Spurs have pulled a goal back through Gareth bale.after a great pass from VDV. It started with a long clearance.
Will Rooney be seen on FSC this morning?
Will he start?
On the bench?
Get booed?
Score?
I agree with UWS as well. Crouch should be a starter for club and country. I agree with BD that Palacios should be playing in midfield instead of Jenas.
Kenny Miller scored a hat-trick for Rangers as they beat Kimarnock 3-2
We should be playing instead of Jenas
Assiou-Ekotu made for his error on the first goal with a nice long ball. I can't believe Dafoe won the header that led to the goal.
What do you guys think about Robert Pires joining Villa this week?
Did you seen that Schweinsteiger could be sold this summer? I'd take him at OT
I agree, UWS. Jenas has been hopeless. I'm surprised that Palacios didn't come on for him at the half.
I hadn't heard about Robert Pires. A bit old, don't you think? I'd have the Pigclimber at Elland Road and all.
Oh - Modric tries a pop and he's not far away. Whew!
That was very close by Modric
Modric nearly made it 2-2 as his long range effort was just over.
Of course, I am rooting for Spurs today but I wouldn't mind Chelsea being knocked off their perch this morning
SS link if you need one
http://www.justin.tv/co_footy#/w/570079648/3
I was not aware of the Pires signing either. Was he signed from Villarreal? I agree with BD. I am surprised that an EPL team would sign him as he seems rather old to be playing in the EPL.
PUT A SHIRT ON MATE!!!
I think Schweinsteiger would be a great signing for United.
Cheers, mate. I'll be dialing up that SS link as soon as this one ends. We're at Carrow Road today. Brings back memories of donor kebabs and Norwich boot boys.
It should be a cracker at Carrow Road between two teams looking for two consecutive promotions.
The Beeb says that Pires is going to start on Sunday at Ewood Park
Nasri with a free kick opportunity here. A bit far out for a pop, methinks.
The US women's team playing today at 10:30 in a World Cup play off 1st leg match in Italy... could they not qualify for the Finals?
I wonder how Villa signed Pires if the transfer window does not start until January.
I saw something flashing at the bottom of the TV screen in the first half, but thought I had not read the message properly. I am as surprised as you. I remember when the women's team was challenging for world championships.
I was never a Kebab fan... fish and chips for me
I remember those days well
The violence against Villa. Thankfully John Bond scored a last minute equalizing penalty!
Remember walking down the street walking toward the ground when a bloke on a moped crashed at a corner and then cops came up and arrested him
Song fouls Modric just outside the penalty area.
Modric earns a cheap one off Song. Dangerous position for the free kick here. VDV probably to take.
PENALTY!!
The guy in the wall definitely lifted his arm!
Penalty to Spurs! Phil Dowd has pointed straight at the spot. Silly boy, Fabregas. Why was he raising his arm out there? Unbelievable.
VDV to take.... 2-2!
YES!! Penalty to Spurs. Phil Dowd got it right. It was definite hand ball by Cesc. What was he thinking?
VDV to take and....
2-2! Spurs are back from the death!
Glad my SS link is slightly behind
GOAL!! 2-2 as VDV send Flappy the wrong way from the spot.
And VDV has now earned a booking for something - excessive celebration? I hate that rule.
From the Beeb
The 37-year-old was released by Spanish club Villarreal in the summer and was available as a free agent.
I guess you can get these guys
Chamakh off and RVP on then.
Fair enough, but this 46-year old center half is also available. Does that mean that Villa will be offering me a contract?
I think you meant to say Kevin Bond,UWS. His father John was the mananger. Kevin is currently Arry's assistant. I agree with you about fish and chips even though I enjoyed kabobs yesterday.
RVP straight into the action with a free kick...and he's floated one in....the balls in the net, but it's ruled offside.
The ball is in the Spurs net but not allowed... definitely off side from the header on
The goal is not allowed as Koscielny and another Gunner were several yards offside.
I really hope United can get two easy wins in the next two weeks. Home to Wigan and Blackburn
1413: BREAKING TEAM NEWS
Wayne Rooney starts on the Man Utd bench v Wigan. Alex, meanwhile, does start for Chelsea at Birmingham.
How could news come out this week that Alex was going to be out two months and Terry out for four weeks..... ALEX STARTS FOUR DAYS LATER... TERRY TO PLAY ON WEDNESDAY!
In other words, Pires was signed because he was free. That makes sense. I understand that Villa and Leeds are interested in that talented 46 year old center half.
Efan Ekoku keeps baying for Theo Walcott but it's the big man, Peter Crouch, who's coming on.
Theo is coming off the bench.
Merson making sense about clubs not wanting players to play for England.
Why don't teams like LiverSox play their top teams in the Carling Cup and not rest their best players. It is the only trophy they could probably have won
United's bench
Rooney, Giggs, Scholes, Hernandez!!
I'm not sure that my knees are up to the challenges of a Championship match. One cruncher from Robbie Savage and it would be curtains for me.
Again, this score thrills Chelsea... it bugs me!
COME ON BIRMINGHAM!!
1416: BIRMINGHAM v CHELSEA
Birmingham: Foster, Carr, Johnson, Dann, Ridgewell, Larsson, Ferguson, Bowyer, Fahey, Jerome, Zigic. Subs: Doyle, Phillips, Derbyshire, Michel, Hleb, Beausejour, Jiranek.
Chelsea: Cech, Ferreira, Alex, Ivanovic, Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Malouda, Anelka, Drogba, Kalou. Subs: Turnbull, Bosingwa, Sturridge, Van Aanholt, Bruma, Kakuta, McEachran.
Referee: Mark Halsey (Lancashire)
Chelski were so poor against Sunderland that they are that desperate to get Terry and Alex in the starting lineup ASAP.
That 46 year old could come up for a couple of goals as well!
Two changes for the Arse now. Rosicky and Theo on and Nasri and Arshavin off.
1419: MAN UTD v WIGAN
Man Utd: Van der Sar, Rafael Da Silva, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Carrick, Park, Obertan, Macheda. Subs: Kuszczak, Rooney, Giggs, Hernandez, Scholes, O'Shea, Evans.
This better not come back and bit us SAF
Fab with a lovely shot well saved
Oh - Fab tries a curler and Gomes is equal to it. Great save!
Gomes makes a good save from Cesc. Corner to the Gunners.
Great cross by RVP... header missed the target
I'll say the obvious again - why does RVP take corners!?
Oh - Koscielny should have won it there. Free header!
Ksocielny misses an easy chance as he heads over form two yards out after a great cross from RVP.
Macheda and Obertan up front for United?!
Merson saying that the owners of LiverSox would rather see the Red Sox win the WS than LiverSox winning the league!
I agree
Of course, would Glazer like to see Tampa Bay win the Super Bowl more?
I don't see what SAF is doing... at least there are some changes that could be made if needed
Ah - that's it. VDV was booked for inciting the fans with a finger up to his lips. Seems a bit harsh.
Bassong seems to be getting ready to come on for Gallas. I hope Spurs win this.
Every time they say Squilacci's name is said , I think of Scalaci the little Italian that kept scoring in WC 90
Tony Cotte fed up with West Ham
STRUTH.. a scramble in the box... Arsenal survive!
I agree with you about VDV's booking... but I do hate the players doing that
Arsene is whinging on the touchline about everything now. It's a thriller at the end here. Could go either way.
Rosicky fouls Hutton just outside the penalty area. VDV took the free kick and Flappy punched away for Hutton to volley miles over. Wenger is livid.
I think the same thing, although I think this Squillaci is French.
Koscileny is booked for a rather stupid tackle. An easy decision for Phil Dowd.
Think he's French??? He is on Viva le Arsenal
Bale is down injured.
STRUTH!!!
SPURS HAVE TAKEN THE LEAD!!!
GOAL! Kabboul has flicked a header into the net! Spurs are in dreamland now!
Great ball in from VDV there.
Kaboul with a classic header from a great freekick!
YES!!! Kaboul puts Spurs ahead off the free kick from VDV with a great header.
Can I just point out that my favorite Gunner RVP was trying to mark Kabboul there? Nuff said.
This could be their first league win at Arsenal since the debut season of the Premier League
Roon gets a good reception when coming out for a kick about before the match
COME ON WAYNE... SCORE TODAY!
RVP in on goal but the usual magical touch from him. Why exactly does he have such a big reputation?
Steve must be throwing things and waking up the missus!!
I can't believe what I am watching
If United win and Chelski lose then United could be level on points by the end of the day.
RVP turns like a carthorse in the box now. He should be put out of his misery.
What a run by Bale . Sagna couldn't catch him, but the final pass let him down.
I will not be calling the Gooner household today. It'll take several days for things to cool down there if this result stands up.
Bale sprints down the wing but his cross doesn't find anyone
His career has exploded since he moved from Left back. I remember United wanting to buy him. I wish we did.
I don't thin Harry was a big fan of his at left back
Now it's Theo being wasteful. Rockets it over the top.
Theo blazes over. That was a decent opportunity.
TH14 smiling in the stands...aren't you upset??
FIVE added minutes... why?
FIVE MINUTES of stoppage time.
Gomes. holds on. That is how you catch a ball , Flappy.
Come on Bale... don't stay in the corner... try and score a fourth
Bale is corner flagging it now and he's gone down in a heap milking it for all it's worth. He's claiming a stamp from Denilson.
Stupid foul by Denilson
Spurs don't put the free kick into the box... I HATE THAT
Sagna fouls Bale as Spurs keep possession by the corner flag.
Bale has really given Sagna fits in the second half.
This looks like an excellent start to my anniversary as the Gunners blow a two goal halftime lead.
one minute to go
Happy Anniversary MUR... how many years?
It will #20 for Kathy and I on December 15
Gomes makes a comfortable from Rosicky. Spurs win 2-3 at the Emirates!!!
One more chance... Rosicky shoots tamely into Gomes' hand
IT IS OVER!!
I am pleased for United but I would prefer to see Arsenal be our main rivals than Chelsea
One last chance for Rosicky but he hits it straight into Gomes's stomach.
And that's it. 2-3 Spurs! A remarkable win for Spurs. Not pretty watching for Gunners fans, especially the second half. Condolences to Gooner - that can't have been fun. I'll look forward to listening to Alan Davies' "It's Up for Grabs" podcast this week.
First win at Arse since 92-93 season... Good omen.. United won the leage!
Thank You,MUR. It is our seventeenth anniversary today.
Twenty years, eh Dave? Wow!
Spurs up to fifth pending other scores. Just 4 points behind Arsenal
I hope United clobber Wigan today. That match is on FSC.
Twenty years is fantastic , MUR.
It's been a doddle... it happens when you pick the right one!!
Next up - the regular 3pm GMT matches, highlighted by LUFC's visit to Carrow Road.
The Leeds side for today's titanic match-up:
Schmeichel, Connolly, Bruce, O'Brien, McCartney, Snoddy, Kilkenny, Howson, Johnson, Becchio, Gradel. Subs: Higgs, Collins, Paynter, Sam, Hughes, Somma, McCormack.
I will be interested in that match but my attention will be on FSC.... FOR THE REAL UNITED!
I don't know, UWS. I reckon that FSC have missed out on the big one today. No one's really that interested in that United.
I can name two dedicated LOBers that might dispute that statement.
I just opened my gift and my wife opened her gift. I got a bag of Hershey's Kisses. I bought my wife a three pack of Chocolate Godiva hot cocoa.
The most important match of the day kicks off at OT.
COME ON UNITED!
United won the toss...attacking away from the Stretford End in the first half
We're off
I just saw that United v Arsenal is on Monday Dec 13!
Kick-off time!
Blackpool have taken the lead - I love them!
Blackpool take the lead against Wolves
Bugger - Derby and QPR are both 1-0 up already.
I'll look forward to that one during Finals Week.
QPR take an early lead
I'd like to see Warnock quit Loftus Road for Upton Park... and go down with them as QPR go the other way!
Wigan had a chance as there was a scramble in the United penalty area.
I'm not sure I would wish Warnock on any side.
