Premiership Midweek!
It's that crazy time of the semester when the Premier League starts throwing in random slates of Premiership matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Today we've got Stoke v. Brum and Spurs v. Sunderland along with a full docket of Football League matches. My eyes will be on Leeds United's home match with fellow Northerners Hull City. Join me if you're enjoying a free afternoon.

I've got a marvelous stream up through P2P for the Gillette Soccer Special:

The teams for Spurs v. Sunderland at Shite Fart Lane this afternoon:
Tottenham: Gomes, Hutton, Kaboul, Gallas, Assou-Ekotto, Bentley, Huddlestone, Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Pavlyuchenko Subs: Cudicini, Jenas, Palacios, Crouch, Bassong, Kranjcar, Corluka
Sunderland: Gordon, Onuoha, Turner, Bramble, Ferdinand, Henderson, Cattermole, Riveros, Richardson, Zenden, Gyan Subs: Mignolet, Bardsley, Malbranque, Angeleri, Da Silva, Welbeck, Elmohamady
Some of the other big matches in the Championship:
Norwich v. Millwall
Ipswich v. Derby (6th v. 4th)
Portsmouth v. QPR
Kick-off time then - come on you super Whites!
Swindon and Brentford are 1-1 in the one early kickoff tonight.
Quiet start in the Stoke v. Brum according to the Merse.
First goal in the Championship tonight. PNE are 1-0 up over Barnsley from a header and it's not Sam Parkin with this one.
"Strong start" from Leeds according to Alan Smiff. Love it!
Boro are 0-1 up at Scunny through a goal from Boyd.
It is marvelous looking at our current standing in 8th with 24 points in the Championship. The job is just about half way done and it's not Thanksgiving.
That match at Shite Fart is about to start up.
Great save by Ben Foster for Brum.
Bloody hell - we've been dominating so far and have just conceded to a one in a million shot by Bostock.
0-1 Hull Bugger!
Doncaster have taken an early away lead against Burnley through James Hayter.
That goal has dropped us down to 10th on 23 points.
Bright start for Spurs especially through VDV.
The former UN secretary general retired from the UN in 2006 and has kept a pretty low profile. So imagine my surprise to see that he's surviving in the Scottish third division and that his sponsored side Annan Athletic is currently 1-0 up at home to Montrose.
Sorry about the news from the El. Early doors, surely. C'mon you Whites, c'mon you Black Cats!
The odd thing about our form this season is that we're still in contention for a playoff spot even though we've let in the highest number of goals at home alongside Hartlepool. It's our away record that's kept us in it. 15 of our 23 points on the road so far.
Afternoon, Gooner. I appreciate the kind words.
Nice to know that Kofi is enjoying his UN retirement in the Highlands.
Scott McDonald has rifled Boro 0-2 into the lead against Scunny.
Scunny have got one back against Boro.
Loved the comments by Alan Davies on the It's Up for Grabs pod this week about how every footballer is now being compared with Gareth Bale - the flavor of the month.
Hey Bob,
I am here just in time for Leeds to tie it up!
Why are they struggling at ER?
Way hay! Bradley Johnson has equalized for the good guys!
Leeds 1 Hull 1 YESSSSSSS!
That's Bradley's third goal of the season for us.
Good to have you back on the blog Bob
Coventry take the lead at the County Ground
City Ground... sorry about that
Ex Red Eagles misses a penalty for Burnley. Still 1-0 Doncaster
I didn't realize how high Derby are in the table
Grimsby have tied it up at the Abbey Stadium
Forest tie it up at the CITY Ground
There has been a goal somewhere in the Prem.... Stoke take the lead against Brum
Barnsley tie up at Preston
Hiya, Dave! Great to be back on. I just got my laptop back from the shop this morning. They had to replace the hard-drive, the memoryboard, even the bloody keyboard! The lot! And it didn't cost me anything. Back in action with it this weekend.
Great job... almost a new computer
Looks like Robert Huth scored - no doubt from a header - for Stoke while I was meeting with a student.
1-0 Stoke.
Some lad named Rooney has scored for Inverness CT. Is he related to Wayne?
Half time at ER 1-1
Probably not.... the only Rooney I know can't score his way out of a paper bag...a wet one
stalemate at Fratton Park against QPR
That works for me. I'd love to see QPR pegged back a bit. Pompey are coming on a bit lately.
I'd love to see a Norwich win against Millwall today.
Nearly half-time at Shite Fart. How is it possible that Spurs can beat Inter Milan and then struggle against the likes of Sunderland?
Norwich are more of a PROMOTION rival than Millwall
Very tight at the bottom of the Championship now with Palace leading Watford today. That's them up to 14 points, level with Bristol City and only a point behind the Blades, PNE and Hull.
I know - but I bloody hate Millwall!
You let the P word go past with no comment... I'm proud of you
Half time at Spurs
No goals
FSC are a couple of seconds ahead of my SS link
You were in Boston over the weekend? How did you get there? If you drove, why didn't you stop by??
You know my view on the "P" word.
DId you see that Drogba has Malaria!!
He's still going to be playing
I did drive, but it was overnight both directions. I buzzed by you Thursday night/early Friday morning around 4 am and hit you around 1 am on the way back Sunday night/early Monday morning. I didn't think you really wanted to see me at that hour - and on school nights!
I did see that. What a rugged sod. He played with a bloody broken arm in the WC and now with malaria!
What's on FSC?
Spurs
Fair enough with the trip!
The derby is on ESPN2 tomorrow and FSC has the Chelsea/Fulham match
Aberdeen have tied up against Cally
21 games since Stoke has scored from a throw -in
Leeds start well in the second half
We're back into the attack from the beginning of the second half according to Ian Dowie.
West Ham have scored 58 goals in European competitions. We have 71 if you include the Intertoto Cup.
Becchio hits the bar
I'll plan on coming out to your patch for the FA 3rd Round tie between Leeds and United at Old Trafford!
Hey there, Johnno. Well in with the Intertoto stats.
Welcome WHR... thank you for that comment!
West Ham have an easy draw in the Carling Cup. Not sure if anyone saw that or not.
SHUT IT DAHLGREN!!!
SHUT IT MENDITTO!!!
Crouchie come on for the second half
We're off again in North London
A goal at Portman Road... to the visitors!
Derby are on fire!
Wot - you don't want a catch at revenge?
I'd like to note that Dave won the daily Monty Python Sit on My Face Competition today, by posting the 69th comment . . . Well done, Dave.
Shame - I don't like bloody Derby. We could easily get QPR, Cardiff and Derby back up in the Premiership next season. What a waste!
LOL, Sir Trev!
Thank you!
I'd like to thank my family!!
The Gooner was amused to note recently that "Sit on My Face" was in his Top 25 on iTunes.
Hopefully, just thanking the missus, Dave. Only the missus. BTW, I've thrice had to reschedule lunch with Phil Shilton. We are on for November 18th . ..
Give Philberto my best, mate.
Yes Johnno... yes!
Forest take the lead
me too
VDV goes inches wide with a header
Is the Spurs match on FSC?
Watford have tied it up with Palace
Bentley goes down in the box... he is booked
There was contact
I told you that earlier
Yes it is on FSC
I'm going to say it
It's LEEDS TIME
I think it could have been a penalty. No booking either case
Burnley tie it up against Doncaster
Cheers, mate. We need this one!
Burnley have pegged Doncaster back.
Watford take the lead at Selhurst Park
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
Andy O'Brien sticks in our second goal as Ian Dowie is reporting.
I'm off lads. I know I don't show on here as much as I'd like, and my visits are short, but I do love this place. I'll give my best to Phil from you both. C'mon you, Whites!
LEEDS TIME, indeed!
YES!!
LEEDS TAKE THE LEAD!!
O'Brien
YES!!!!!!!!
We always love hearing from our resident Hammer. Cheers, mate!
Say it again, Dave!!!!!
The Merse is having a magical time with a mad scramble in the Stoke box for Brum.
Take care John
Birmingham go close many times and makes Merson go nuts
"Stoke now go on the attack but they are KNACKERED"
Not that knackered... TWO NIL
And it's Merse screaming again. Stoke are 2-0 up - a screamer from Ricardo Fuller.
QPR have a man sent off for a prof. foul and Pompey have a penalty
Penalty to Pompey! And QPR down to ten men! Way hay!
Penalty saved but asked to take it again!
Palace tie it up
Birmingham have a goal back! 2-1
Play Up Pompey!
1-0
Warnock won't be a happy chappy with a retake for encroachment
Birmingham have tied it up!!!
Palace are now winning again
Derby double their lead
Bob gets his wish... Millwall 0 Norwich 1
VDV scrambles in a goal for Spurs
1-0
Hull have had a man sent off!
All looking good for Leeds
Another great knock down by Crouch
Should have been a handball from VDV
Sunderland tie up!!
Gygan
Bloody Hell
Hull have tied up!! With ten men
Bradley Johnson scores an og
Aberdeen losing 1-2
Handbags at WHL
Foul on Modrich
Yellow for Cattermole
All Birmingham at Stoke
Of course, Stoke are, of course, knackered!
Goal at Stoke... to the hosts!!
Sunderland have a chance but no goal
Sunderland's goal was such a gift. Two defenders both go for a ball and both let the ball go
I have to say it again.... IT'S LEEDS TIME
I bloody knew it - an irritating student came by to ask an irritating question and we've given up an o.g. when I get back to it.
We're stuck in 9th with 24 points now. I want the winner!
Alex Bruce has a header saved off the line
What about that duo in the Leeds side
Shmeichel and Bruce
Oh - Alex Bruce has had a header cleared off the line!
The problem is that it's Kasper and Alex, not Peter and Steve.
Barnsley take the lead at Preston
Lovely - Sheffield United in the relegation zone!
Ain't like their dads.. huh?
Cambridge have drawn with Grimsby
Leeds have only drawn!!
Sorry mate!
Who has the penalty at Fratton Park?
QPR have the pen and Pompey are down to ten with a horrible decision
1-1
Ah well - it's another point for us. 26 to get for safety. We're in 9th.
Derby win at Portman Road
Millwall tie it up in the last minute of extra time
Stoke have won
Derby have won again - 2-0.
Bloody hell! Millwall have equalized in extra time!
Forest have beaten Coventry
That's the sort of result that keeps Stoke up year after year. They're now three points off relegation.
year after year? they have only stayed up one year
Does that Millwall and Norwich result change Leeds position
All over at Fratton
Looks like a bit of ruck on the pitch after the end of that Pompey v. QPR match. Do we really want Neil Warnock back up in the Prem?
NO
Yeah - it does actually. We're back up to 8th where we started the afternoon, level with Ipswich and Coventry who are in the last playoff spot. Our GD is rotten, though. Other than Palace, the worst in the league.
What has happened at the Lane... free kick at the edge of the box... yellow for Gomes
Outside the box and cover behind... good decision by the World Cup Final Man
Free kick deflected for a corner
Worst GD in the division bar Palace???
Sunderland look the more likely to score
4 minutes of stoppage time has started
United are struggling to get a side out for tomorrow
Injuries and the flu are causing havoc!
BTW... we still haven't lost in any competition so far this season!
One more chance for Spurs.. throw in cleared... that's it
Game over!
Two points dropped by Spurs. They have dropped 8 out of the last nine points!!
I am off to teach at the college
Take care everyone
Fingers crossed tomorrow for my lot

Jermaine Beckford with the goal!
Adebayor is coming on for Tevez after 93:26... time wasting Mancini????
Time almost up.. one more chance... United have possession
Nani does some dancing but refuses to shoot.
It is over
United were the best team by a good margin!
I am quite pleased with the performance but would have preferred a win
United created much more than Citeh.
Steve Mac is not pleased with City!
Everton have drawn
Everything is over
The Table is
Chelsea 28
United 24

What a great goal by Beckford with the last kick of the game. Curler into the top corner from the the left side of the box.
