Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Hey John
Your games are not that bad to have so there is a good chance. The problem is that the performances have been pants! I guess holding Citeh to two goals after that start is a good starting point!
I'm in your corner.... are you in mine???
Of course, David! Never Chelski. But I must admit I was rooting for Arsenal, what with my Uncle Richard (82 and Arsenal supporter) over for a visit. We watched the game Sunday afternoon on tape delay. Plus the Arsenal win makes for great drama this weekend.
Great post, Johnno, but I'm afraid that it's going to be another year for Hammer's fans' tears, mate. Here's why:
Avram may well be right that adding 7 points to your current 32 points would be enough for you lot to stay up. However, I only see you getting four points from those last three fixtures: three points against Blackburn, none against Sunderland and 1 from a score draw with Wigan.
Wolves have WBA at home (1 pt), Sunderland away (0 pts) and Blackburn at home (3 pts) for a finishing total of 38 pts. They're also toast.
Wigan have Villa away (1 pt), West Ham at home (1 pt) and Stoke away (1 pt) to end up with 38 pts. I think they survive on GD.
Blackpool have Spurs away (0 pts), Bolton at home (3 pts) and United away (0 pts) for 38 pts. They'll go down because I expect Spurs and United to put a few goals by them in the next two weeks.
Here's the good news, though. Being the fan of a yo-yo club is far preferable to being the fan of a run-of-the-mill Premiership club such as Everton or Fulham. What do they ever have to get them going? They never really fear relegation nor experience the thrill of promotion and league trophies.
So, come on down to the Championship, mate. The water's fine!
Hey John,
I think the Hammers have a chance . Avram needs to rephrase his statement stating that seven points is the minimum needed for survival. I think they can do it.I expect three points vs Blackburn, one at Wigan, and I think they can win at home to Sunderland on the final day of the season. Sunderland has a poor away record and are already safe, so they will have nothing to play for on the final day of the season. Their form of late has been shocking and they cannot buy a goal. I expect the Hammers to finish on 39 points( four better than under zola).I think Blackpool will draw with Bolton and lose to Spurs and Man United, finishing with 36 points.I agree with Bob that Wolves will finish with 38 points, but they will lose to WBA and draw at Sunderland. That leaves Wigan who will draw with West Ham , lose at Villa, and win at Stoke. They will finish with 39 points. In the final analysis I am picking Blackpool and Wolves to be relegated and it will come down to goal difference between Wigan and West Ham, who have almost identical goal differences. It may come down to goals scored. How exciting! If West Ham can win their final three matches then they are definitely safe. That is a realistic goal.
West Ham , Wigan, and Wolves all have a -23 goal difference , and Blackpool have a -22 goal difference. I have a feeling that the margin of victory may decide whether West Ham or Wigan stay up. The Hammers have a slight advantage as they have scored more goals than Wigan.
Ta very much for the excellent information . . . If we have Parker and Noble, 7 points is do-able. . . but I'm not going to cry if we have to swim with the mid-sized fishes next year.
After Wolves win today, not much chance for survival. What a shambles this season. Nothing but heartbreak when you are a West Ham fan.
